nba 2k9 is a really fun and challenging game.first are the graphics the graohics are really realistic and they are very detailed it feels like your watching it on tv. next is the controls the controls are very simple but sometimes i forget what button to press to try to steal the ball but other than that there great. finally is the challenge this game can get very challenging if i play a game 10 times i might only win like 3 of those games so you might want to adjust the difficulty to something that fits you.all the games i played so far i have only lost most of them by less than 5 points. some advice is when you try to make the game winning shot make sure there barely is any time on the clock so the other team cant score. i learned that by getting a three with 5 seconds left and leading 68-67 and guess what they go down the court and score the game winning shot and leving me with 0.2 seconds. overall this is a great game if your a B-ball fan by this its great.
disregard my last review, this game is excellent!
I had to exchange my last game because it was defective. My new copy is awesome. This is the closest thing to the real game that I have ever played. The animations are impressive and the AI is challenging. You really have to move the ball and your player around to score. If not, you won't get a good shot and the computer will punish you. I can't wait to see how the "living roster" works once the season starts. This game is very fluid and the graphics and presentation are great. The association is deeper than ever and the rest is pretty fun as well. In every game, you are challenged by different superstars and role players, it's not just one player going crazy, you have to play real basketball to win. For example, if you want to get defensive rebounds, you have to box out. This game is amazing, best 2K yet. I played nba live 09 and it's a good game but this one is a step above. Basketball fans have some great games to choose from this year. This is next-gen b-ball; challenging but great. 10 out of 10.
A MUST BUY!!!
I rush up the stairs and unwrap the game. One moment later, I pop in the disc. NBA 2K9!! I've been waiting for it since February. The first thing I notice are the improved graphics. The court looks great and the fans are unbelievable. The players look real from far away and great from up close. This is the first time everyone has looked like their real-life counterpart in a game. The animations are great and there are so many moves to use. The improvements on the shot stick are great. For better or for worse, you are in complete control of your lay ups. While playing on pro, the default difficulty, I lost my first game by 10 and my second by 12. I've always considered myself excellent at basketball games and found this very challenging. You can play as celebrities in street/Blacktop mode including Ryan Sheckler. The graphics are actually better than NBA live's and we all know the gameplay is better. You HAVE to buy this game. It is the best basketball game ever made and is worth way more than $*****.
2k delivers again
Nba 2k9 is a great game. First there are the graphics which are pretty close to the actual players. Not everybody looks like themselves but close enough to recongnize them. You have nba blacktop which is like all star weekend on nba live but more of a street ball feel to it.There is the 3 point shootout, dunk contest and more on the nba blacktop. The association is also very deep it is close to the nfl head coach of basketball except u get to play. You can look at the average age of your team if u want to get older or younger. You can trade, scout, look at rumors and stats and more. You can also schedule practices.you can upload updated rosters and get the updated trades and teams.A good soundtrack.Another thing with this game is its challenge the computer u face is tough to beat sometimes you blow them out or they will blow you out but there also lots of close games. There is also the highlight reel were you can put together ur saved replays and add sounds and music or also do freeze frame to make a cool reel u can watch or upload. This game is tough with solid graphics, and lots of intresting features. This game delivers again.
best 2k game made... better gameplay than 2k11
i used to have this game and played it online all the time. i have 2k11 now and play that now mainly because its easier to find matchups online. 2k9 was so much fun. the gameplay seemed faster and smoother without as much animation in player movement. that was much more noticable on offense. the main difference i see i how you play on offense. in 2k11 its tougher to score, you have to settle for a lot more mid range jump shots. in 2k9 it was a dunk contest. all i did was dunk on people and played inside-out, kill em in the paint then when they double team kick it out for open 3's. this game is awsome for the price. 2k11 is good but 2k9 is the best so far.
It's a great game. It has all the players from the 50's to today. You can make a custom team and have larry Bird play with kobe and have Dr J play with Yoa Ming. It's very realistic and when the player's get to the free throw line they shoot the way they do in the NBA! you can have dunk contest, three point shooting contest and can play a street game. You can also play a season mode where where it is really realistic. The controls are pretty simple and easy to use. the only part I didn't like was they change the controls for the dunk contest it's so hard to dunk. The three point shooting could use a little work but it is still a great game. It also tells you how good the team is and gives you a rating of the. Like before you do the season mode it tells you there key players. I give the game a 7 and a half out of ten.
best game ever madeeeee
This game is the best basketball game ever made. You can create a rookie and draft him in to the nba and once you get drafted you can talk to reporters and you can go workout and walk around the city and drive around the city. You can drive into different states and look around the city and you have to practice with the team and you have do drills. You can do a camera view from the ballhandlers eyes to where it looks like your actually in the game. It is basically like you are in the nba. You can walk into stores and buy stuff like new clothes, shoes, or any other stuff. You can buy your own house and walk around your house and if you have a basketball hoop you can shootaround. It is basically like you are living in a video game, you can do anything. The reason I know all this stuff is, I helped create part of this game. This game will be one of the best games in video game history. Get this game this game is the best game ever.
The producers can't do much to make this game better.
I'm glad I bought NBA 2k9 over NBA Live 09. I've always bought the Live title year after year, but I decided to make the change and switch over to the 2K Sports title. For me, the reviews were what lead me to buy the game. Such good reviews must mean the game is good... and it is. The two things I wasn't 100% pleased with are the camera angle and interface. While the camera angle is good, you can only see about half the court when you're moving up court. That could be the size of my TV, but it prevents me from seeing where I'm passing the ball and who's where exactly. The view moves along as you dribble up the court, though, so in the end it all works out fine. As for the interface, it was hard to understand where to go to play your team's game in the Association mode. I now understand how to navigate the menu's though, and it's a very creative and interactive interface. This is probably the best basketball simulation there is and possibly will be. If you're trying to make the decision, don't hesitate to buy 2k9 over Live. You won't regret the decision.
Great Game, Good Challenge too
NBA 2K9 is a great game for all gamers. This game has great graphics and a variety of camera angles. When I play I use the preset camera angle, but you can adjust the angle in a ton of ways. This game also incorporates playcalling and many different common plays seen in real NBA games. For example alley oops, dunks, clutch threes, momentum etc. When a player starts making a few shots they get in rythem and don't miss very often. But when a player is controlled poorly and bad shots are taken and missed, that player gets out of rythem and usually misses until there are good decisions from the gamer. I also liked how the game had T Mobile, Sprite, and Gatorade advertising in it. The game really makes you feel like you are watching a real NBA game. The graphics are as good as they get as of now. The ratings are a liitle off for some players but they are ok. This game is really great, especially for sports and NBA fans.
Better than NBA Live, Still has flaws
Ok NBA 2k9 is much improved from last year's game. Also it's still more realistic then NBA Live 2009. The game play is a lot smoother and everything is great pretty much. Also, I love the new intros before games. The game is simply amazing, but there are a few things that really tick me off as a frequent Xbox Live player. Playing inside is way too easy in this game. Hook shots from 8 feet or so are too easy for any post player. You can easily get 40 Points with guys like Yao Ming while shooting over 80%. It's ridiculous. You can double team or anything, most of the shots still go in. It just makes it unrealistic. NBA 2k7 did a great job on this, and now it sucks again. It's really disappointing and it just ruins on line play for me. Other than that, everything else is AMAZING. Too bad this one "flaw" is horrible to me. There are a few other minor glitches, but nothing big. You can barely notice them.
