Naval Assault: Killing Tide
It is what is is......
This game is pretty much what you see is what you get. You are the captain of a U.S. sub during WWII. The sub nor the enemy ships look like any nation from WWII. Enemies almost look like Coast Guard ships. There are a few negative points to the game. * You control a sub and no other ship or plane. * The sub is really slow so if you are spotted and attacked it is not easy to get away. But if you sit still andkill your engines they eventually lose you and go away. Not realistic but your best chance for survival. Once they lose you and their alert status goes away you can leave the battle zone. * There are only 3 levels of depth in the sub: on top of the water, periscope depth, and deep. You can't adjust your depth other than to one of the 3 levels. Down deep you can't fire accurate torpedoes and at periscope depth they spot you quickly. You have to fire, go deep, and sit until they stop looking for you. Overall the game is fun. You control the sub and sink ships and you also go topside and use the deck guns to shoot down fighter and bomber planes. Sinking ships gives you stars and with enough stars you can upgrade to a better sub. There are a handful of battle locations and each has about 5 missions per to complete. So the length of the game isn't that great but with this game would get too repetitive if it was much longer. I would recommend someone who is into games like this to buy it used or rent it. It's probably not worth full price new. This is the first time I have played a game like this and I enjoy it, but it's not for everyone.
Good if you like this style of game!
First let me say, I take any game review with a grain of salt. Like alot of things, what works for one person, does not work for the next! Your favorite color, is not my favorite color, etc. etc. Therefore, I do not like to give a review as much as my experience of the game! I had to post up on this game because I feel it did not get the descent review it needs. First, this game is not for everyone!!! It is a hunt-kill-hide submarine game. Nothing more, nothing less!!! You can make it as easy, or as hard as you like by chooseing your targets, and skill level. If you are looking for extreme pull your hair out excitement, move elsewhere. If you are a fan of the PC Silent Hunter series, you may find this satisfying. No where near the strategy level of Silent Hunter's, but all the fun of jumping right into a mission and sinking targets, and staying alive. This to me is a nice addition to the long slow pace of PC sub sims. It is very close to the sub sim in "Battle Stations Midway". Graphics and sounds are OK. Not the best! I wish you could turn off your crew's annoying comments, and have more depth contol, but oh well!! No sub game is complete without pressure hull collapse! As already said, if you are a sub fan, pick up a copy. Heck, it's only 17 bucks and some change now as I write this. If not, rent a copy first. Don't bash it because it's not your style of gameplay. Again, hunt-kill-hide, hunt-kill-hide! Hope this helps!
Not that great...
I got this game cause I thought i would end up really good, but i didn't like it. All you can use is U-boats, i was hoping for a battleship or something at some point in the game. The story line is good, but gameplay isnt all that exciting. This game is worth $10-15, but not 20.
Remember Silent Service?
Seems like any fans of the old game "Silent Service" should enjoy this one. Many WWII flight sims involved fast paced action and quick decision making. The WWII submarine sims would involve more tactical assaults and stealth. If you enjoy WWII combat sims and fancy yourself a skilled tactician, this one could be for you.
Could be better, couldve been alot worse
If 505 had made the submarines customizable with Various deck guns, engine upgrades, color patterns, decals, etc. the game would have been abit more appealing.
its a fairly round game, takes patience to play, I'd recommend it as a cooldown game after playing heavy action games.
505 games ! Never ever again
This company showed their true color with Il2 Birds of Prey . They don't support their games and they don't support the consumers who spend their hard earned cash on their products. They will leave you high and dry and never fix the game if something is wrong with it ! They really messed over the developers in BOP and I feel sorry for any Dev team out there that has to work with such a horrible publisher. Its a real shame, because they could of had a Huge fan base for the future of their games but, instead they lost 10's of thousands of future fans do to their horrible treatmeant of their gaming community. I have no hopes for this game, simply because it is a 505 game, don't waste your money.
Ya i dont think this game is going to be all that great it looks as if it wants to be like battlestations but it wont
A real let down
i love ww2 games . especially when they involve sub's and all. but this was a dissapointment. worse then the history channels pacific. i borrowed it from a friend who said it was target practise to him and i played for little over 3 hors and got mad. the story line was ok. the grafics were nothing to jump about and the game just was lacking true potential. id say keep your money and invest elsewere. this games a dud. sorry designers. needs more work
If this game was less than 15$ i'd buy it
This game isn't all that good it was overpriced when i bought it at 49.99$. It is very hard to upgrade and is not always clear what to do. The controls are also annoying but on the art side major props the graphics are good and the sound is as well if this game was really cheap I would buy it but for over 15$ not worth it.
Exactly like Midway/Pacific
To me, this game looks like an exact copy of Battlestations midway and pacific... dont get me wrong, the games were okay but they are the exact same thing which is what kept me originally from buying Pacific because again, its an exact copy, just different units... So personally I think its a waste of time paying attention to this game.
