MLB Front Office Manager
You Really Have To Love Baseball
Let me start out by saying that this game is not bad by any means. The reason for the two one rankings is that gameplay and graphics are virtually non-existent. Any gamer that is looking for a simple fun and relaxing sports game should definitely look elsewhere, like what's recommended below. To enjoy this game you have to be willing to invest long periods of time in it. This game requires a lot of strategy and judgement rather than pure skill and luck. If you really are a hardcore fan and really want a chance to lead a franchise, go ahead and spend $5 for a chance to live your dream, sort of.
This Game is AMAZING!!!!!!
This is the greatest coaching game that i have ever played. It is even better than NFL Head Coach 09, in my opinion. I have read a million and a half complaints about this game and that is honestly what held me back from getting this game, but i was shocked at how awesome it really is. The graphics are the best, but they dont have to be. The challenge of the game is very good, it is hard to get guys to sign with your team and it is very hard to win and win often. I love building a team for many years to come. I use the Cardinals and Pujols is absolutely tearing it up in the game. There are a few bad spots in the game. The interface could be a little easier to use and it would be helpful to have a few more sortable areas. This game has everything any GM could ask for from signing guys to the draft to waivers. This game is absolutely amazing and i would recommend it to any hardcore, stats driven baseball fan.
It IS what it is...
For people who are giving this bad reviews, they obviously didn't understand what this game is. This is NOT a game where you play the games. It's a FRONT OFFICE MANAGER. You are the GM. You control all aspects of the roster, at all levels, MLB, and MiLB. In depth contract negotiations, a hard trading system, 40 man rosters, September call-ups, Japan bidding, waivers, and the Rule 5 Draft are all included. This is not for people who want to play the actual game. This game is for people who love to build and shape a roster, and who in past games simmed through the season because they wanted to get back to free agents and making trades. This game is great if you like that. For people who are more into managing and creating the perfect roster, this game has very few flaws. The soundtrack gets annoying after about 5 minutes, and the menus are a little tough to get used to, but, besides that, its everything it said it would be. The graphics are nothing special, but, thats not what the game is about.
Good for GM's, NOT players
This game is great... if you like to be the real GM. Your not the GM and the Players like in most MLB games. You are just the GM. This includes Trades, Free Agents, Draft, Japan Bidding etc. However the games are pretty much simulated, and you have no control. It is your job to put good players on the field, and they will succeed. I had a team with what I thought would be similar to a Fantasy team in like an ESPN league but they weren't so good. However I gave this a 9 because once you get the hang of what you have to do its awesome. Yes I'm a person that simulates into the Playoffs so this was a good game for me.
So much fun, i cant stop playing this game, it feels like im an actual general manger running an organization. Love how you have all the responsibilities of an actual gm.
not as good as i expected
when i first heard about this game i was so excited. i couldn't wait to get it and i got it the day it came out. when i first started playing i was wondering why the rosters weren't updated. CC and AJ were still free agents. The next thing is you cant play at all. The CPU does everything for you. the only think you can do is choose options such as hit, bunt, pitch, walk etc. and its not a fair game, i had a well put together lineup and pitching rotation and my final season record was like 52-112. I was so shocked. Also, you have to be very familiar with baseball. If you have only little knowledge of baseball this will be very difficult. And there are a couple of glitches. I offered a contract to Johnny Damon and I gave him a $2 mil bonus if he was an all star. He declined the offer because he wanted an all star bonus of $2 mil. Makes no sense... So overall I give this game 3/10. NOT RECOMMENDED TO BASEBALL FANS !
Not that interesting........
This game is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO boring!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are into all the stuff behind the games than this woulkd be perfect for you but on the other hand it is not all that fun. All you do during the season is tell them what to do you mainly just watch the CPUs. I think you should be able to manage the game AND play the games for real. You should be able to make your own characters and play the games for real. You are really just managing the injuries and getting people on your team. If you like all the boring stuff about baseball then it would be perfect but to NORMAL people (no offence to people who love the game) it shouldn't be the way it is. They should combine the games but then again that would take their profits down because it would cost more to make the games and they wouldn't make as much $$$$$$$. Bottom line is that this game isn't the best choice if you want more player interaction.
IT isnt that great, i have it
Let me start if by saying in this game you don't get to play as a baseball team, the computer plays for you, all you do is just say bat, pitch, swing, bunt, etc. i should have saved my money for 2k9 better. the game starts of by having free agents like cc sabathia and aj Burnett. of course i was the yankees and i didn't get to sign Burnett because he supposedly signed with blue jays for an extension and mark signed with Cleveland because i was outbid. its a very difficult game to understand all you need to know is that you dont do anything as you watch the game only watch the cpu do everything for you. your in charge of just bringing players into the game. horrible decsion by 2k sports to have a game like this. i was hyped to have it because i like playing GM mode but not like this. i enjoy playing the game as well and this just lets you watch. this game is what gms literally do during games .... NOTHING!
Good game for GM type people
This game is not for those who like to actually play the games. If that is something you want to do, stick with the Show or 2k9. This game is for those who love the GM aspect of the game except going even more indepth with rule 5 drafts, enhanced scouting, Japanese posting, arbitration to your players, Type A/B players, etc. This is an excellent game if you really and truly want to do all of the different aspects of the GM's job. It's also great to have an even more in-depth AI that doesn't give you the players you want for spare parts and a more in-depth player morale. Just don't buy it if a big part of the gaming experience for you is actually playing the games and being in control of the players because it won't live up to expectations.
You have to know what your doing
MLB Front Office Manager is exactly what the title says. You play only as the GM not as the team. If you know a lot about baseball then this is a good game. There are features such as the draft, waiver deals, free agent signing and much more. You get the chose to either manage the game, where you just say to swing, or to just sim the whole season. The graphics of the game is not really good. All of the players basically look the same when you are managing the game. If you dont know much about baseball this game will be very confusing. It does not help you with how all the salery caps works or the trades. The game expects you to know what to do. This game is not like any other baseball game out there. You cannot play the game, only watch. It is a good game for any baseball fan who likes building a roster, instead of actually playing.
