Product Details:

METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE takes the renowned METAL GEAR franchise into exciting new territory by focusing on delivering an all-new action experience unlike anything that has come before.. Combining world-class development teams at Kojima Productions and PlatinumGames, MGR REVENGEANCE brings two of the world's most respected teams together with a common goal of providing players with a fresh synergetic experience that combines the best elements of pure action and epic storytelling, all within the expansive MG universe. The game introduces Raiden as the central character; a child soldier transformed into a half-man, half-machine cyborg ninja, equipped with a high-frequency katana blade and a soul fueled by revenge.

In the near future, cyborg technology has become commonplace throughout society. Three years have passed since the collapse of the Patriots system that had been secretly controlling the global power balance from the shadows. However, peace remains elusive. The dissemination of cybernetic technology has triggered instability and conflict as those who control the trade gain increasing power. Furthermore, large Private Military Companies', or PMC's, that had been supported and controlled by the Patriots have collapsed, spawning countless rogue entities with origins to larger criminal organizations. These renegade PMCs employing cyborg technology have become increasingly more disruptive shifting policy and power at will. As a member of the peace-keeping PMC Maverick Security', Raiden lives by the mantra of protecting and saving lives. But as the world plunges further into asymmetric warfare, the only path that leads him forward is rooted in resolving his past, and carving through anything that stands in his way.

Key Features:

  • The latest METAL GEAR console experience featuring an all-new style of frenetic action gameplay and central character, Raiden, a cyborg ninja who uses his High Frequency katana blade to cut through any thing that stands in his vengeful path!
  • New game design, the birth of a new type of MG experience: Combining development powerhouses Kojima Productions and PlatinumGames together, MGR REVENGEANCE will offer a fast & fluid game style centered on katana-based combat within the METAL GEAR universe.
  • Advanced technology: Produced by a hybrid team of renowned developers, the in-game technology promises to push the boundaries of graphics, style and lightning-speed action gameplay.
  • ZanDatsu' cut mechanic: Within the game world, players will be able to take advantage of what has been created - "an all-encompassing cutting plane in real time". Cut anything, anytime, anywhere.
  • Epic story in the vein of what MG is known and loved for: The game takes place after the events of METAL GEAR SOLID 4 where the world has fallen into chaos with cyborg crimes & terrorism running rampant in society. Delves into the continuing story of Raiden, a child-soldier turned cyborg ninja who's origins are connected to both METAL GEAR SOLID 2 and METAL GEAR SOLID 4.

Game Informer Rating:

Rated 7.75 out of 10 by Game Informer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Fun, But Sometimes Challenging, Experience This game is fun, but the gameplay could be tricky in some spots. The block/parry system took me a while to get a handle on because there is no block button, but rather you swing towards an enemy as they are about to attack you and you parry. I love the action of the game and the music is awesome and gets more dramatic the better you are doing. Some of the boss fights got really frustrating, but that's probably because I'm not that very good. If you're a Metal Gear fan than I recommend picking this up. If you're an action/hack & slash fan and are familiar with Platinum Games you won't regret picking this up. While it wouldn't hurt to have played the MGS series and get some backstory on Raiden, you can probably still enjoy the game without it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from NG rip off This game is nothing but a Ninja Gaiden rip off. That said it is a good game. It has a slower pace than Ninja Gaiden and a very short story that they try to cover with HUGE cutscences and tons of talking(skip with Y button) but it is a fun game.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but short. The gameplay while I find it was a little tricky at points. The blocking/parrying system worked for the most part. Raiden himself had good character progression. The game had a good story going and it was nice having the ability of choosing how you want to play. However the game is literally only 7 missions long. If you want something to sit down and beat I recommend it. If you are looking for a story that you can delve into over the course of 10+ hours I would recommend going with MGS4.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great game. When i first looked into Rising i had different intentions on it thinking it wasn't going to be too great, but i was wrong. Metal Gear Rising takes place a few years after MGS4 with Raiden from MGS2 taking the main lead. Metal Gear Rising's game play is very fun you could spend your time sneaking through some parts of the levels or go crazy and hack and slash the crud out of an enemy in free blade mode where you can cut up certain parts of an object or body and overall the controls are great except blocking an attack can be tricky at first and i thought Platinum Games could have done a bit better with it, but i had gotten use to it over time and one more problem with the game is that it could take you 5 to 6 hours to beat and if you skip the cut scenes that makes a 3 to 4 hour game. Another amazing part about Metal Gear Rising is it's music which take rock and electronic to make epic music for the boss fights and overall game. My take on this game is that it's a very enjoyable action game that deserves to be played.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing Great game for those who keep hating. Full with fast paced action and there's not a moment where you feel bored. After I put down the controller my hands were shaking with all the adrenaline from the boss battles. Only thing I hated was those funky camera angles. Lost a couple battles because I couldn't parry in that direction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing I personally love this game. Sure, its got its downfalls, but just about any game does. Let me just say that this game is absolutely bada**, the soundtrack is completely amazing, and the gameplay is decently smooth. Parrying/blocking attacks can be interesting to get used to, and can get obnoxious if you love getting the achievements or just want to play on the hardest difficulty (along with the camera. Personally, I didn't notice on the normal difficulties, but playing on revengeance mode the camera can be your worst enemy). Its also quite short, but I honestly can say its worth every penny. If you like bada** hack-and-slash games that still have a very good story, defiantly get this game. It's worth it. I've been playing it for a month now and I'm still obsessed with it.
