Rated 8 out of 10 by MemphisPooreman A good solid family friendly racing game.
The Good: The graphics are very nice. Your avatar can drive the cars, which my son who is 7 thinks is cool. It has a lot of content to unlock. My son had issues with driving and tool a week to get used to over the Wii. The audio is also nice. My son likes racing games. He really likes to play this one with friends. The game-play is very child friendly. They get to fight as they race with power up tools. They can do FREESTLE tricks when jumping.
The Bad: Sometimes the Kinect interface is hard for young hands that have problems slowly moving. This game has problems dropping the players from game-play if they bounce around a lot like kids do. Getting two registered users to play might be impossible, we have yet to get game to do it. So, be happy with one know player and one guest. Your game cars lack a lot customizing. My son would like some simple options to make it more his style.
Conclusion: The game is perfect young kid gamers into racing. My son is 7 and loves playing it with friends/family. It is also a fun party style game. Its worth the money if your little one likes cars or racing.
Rated 9 out of 10 by MacB Simple Fun
The first thing you need to know is that this isn't a serious racing game. It is more of an arcade style, bump, grind, crash and go racer. The controls are entirely kinect driven. Your hands, arms and body drive the car and perform stunts and they are very accurate.
There is no eye-candy, so don't expect cutting edge graphics. The sound is well done and fitting of the game. As for the gameplay, it can only be described as pure fun. The controls are easy to use and very simple. Just steer with your hands and extend your arms for a boost! Even stunts are pretty simple to figure out, just by jumping around in front of the kinect!
This game is good for casual gamers and kids. Simple controls and fun gameplay make this a must have for anyone with a kinect.
Rated 9 out of 10 by Stuugs3 Better than I thought . . .
I waited to get this game because of the O.K. reviews. Decided to get this game for the family. It is much better than I thought. Have to say I got Sonic Free Riders first and this game is a little better (easier to control and easier to play). Even my wife (who doesn't usually play games) is really enjoying jumping in every once-in-awhile. My 3 1/2 year old tries it :) Heard there will be a free download in January to add more to it (DLC)? Try it, you will probably like it!

I have no understanding of why anyone would like this game. It is not possible to handle the cars. This is because the kinect is so new. I hope Microsoft and the makers of video games learn how to create racing games for the connect that are fun and are actually playable. CONGRATS TO MICROSOFT ON THE KINECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rated 0 out of 10 why??
This game looked epic at e3 a while back and i can't wait for it. The only downside, correct me if i'm wrong, i want to use the controller. The whole "kinect" thing seems awesome and all but why for this game?

Finally XBOX owners get the fun and goofy antics that Nintendo owners have been getting for years!!! I just wish I could sit down and play this. After a while standing really starts to hurt my feet.

I like kinect joy ride because of how it functions with the KINECT! i love how i get to spin and do tricks!I have problems steering the invisible wheel though! I definitely like it!

Great Game One of my favorites for Kinect. It's like Crash tag team racing and Mod Nation Racers had a child with Mario Kart. :D Although it did Lag a little. Especially the Steering. I would make a SUPER HARD turn to the right and he'd turn left instead and hit the wall. sometimes it would turn while im going straight. but bottom line, you would have to have your arms in the perfect postion to turn and steer right. i just wish i could sit down and play. plus they should have added a brake and a reverse. as well as a MUCH WIDER variety of cars and more customizing features for your car including stuff like stickers and vynils, performance upgrades and more car models and styles and colors. They also could've added more levels or so or more game modes. Well, other than that stuff I personally Love the game. I would consider getting it if i were you. I hope they come out with a second one and so on. though kinect needs alot of improvements and so do the games. but i cant wait for forza 4. if you have floppy arms like me it might be harder to steer. But just make sure you have enough space for your arms and for the game mode "trick race" (which wasn't that good to me due to not picking up the positions i did). But if you want a good racing game GET THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tell friends about it. It's good for the Family to play. <3 the moves you can do in a race. but the weapons could have been improved. P.S to kinect and microsoft studios, I dont mean to sound like a lazy bum, but i know there are a lot of people like me who would prefer to sit and play certain games that dont necessarily only require standing up such as this one (for every mode except "trick race") but how about you have the kinect sensor read your body while you're sitting? :)
