Rated 9 out of 10 by Ravious RDA campaign is the best
Avatar wouldn't have been my usual pick in a store so when I opened up my xbox kinect I was a llitle disappointed to see this in there with terminator salvation ( I mean I like the Gears of war kinda game, so I expected this to be a watered down kids version of an FPS). Man, I am still playing this game today. Sure the avatar side is a little sucky, but who wants to play as an overgrown blue monkey anyway? From torching plants to launching RPGs in viper wolves and Na'vi's faces this game delievers. As an RDA soldier you can ride in bugees, futuristic speed boats, the A.M.P, and ATV grinder. The more stuff you kill you get better upgrades for weapons like shotguns, machine guns, grenade launchers and nail guns. Plus the armor gets even cooler, from a vietnam sleevless style to gears of war heavy armor your character looks cool. You also get awesome special abilities like an airstrike and a repulsor to get those close up guys away from you. This game rocks. If you see it, buy it. Totally worth it.
Rated 7 out of 10 by Likes good shooters...... good but not great...
OK so I watched the movie a few days ago and was eager to play the game so I rented it. Now this game had serious potential, but ubisoft failed in a few ways. First the controls, they were so clunky and are still hard to use and there is no zoom or even aim in this game? Story mode offers a bit of challenge and length but graphics also could have been better, the developers spent so much time with detail of the surrounding than they did with characters and guns. This game follows the idea of the movie but not the same character or anything. I'm surprised with the amount of game ubisoft makes, how bad the graphics were with this game. If someone like Infinity Ward put this together it would be amazing! now online is ok but some maps have advantages for the na'vi and some maps for the RDA. but really it all comes down to who has more teammates together because even if you 4 vs 5 you would get recked in a matter of seconds...
Rated 8 out of 10 by jason1234 2 games in one.
This game is 2 games in one, which is good because that means there are two pretty long campaigns, but bad because neither one of them are very good. The campaign with the rda(humans) is better as far as gameplay goes, but the navi campaign is better as far as story and graphics go(the graphics are generally the same for the most part but the textures for the navi are more realistic than the textures for the humans). The multyplayer is descent which is a plus,And there are alot of weapons, but the good ones are just upgraded versions of the worse ones. The graphics are pretty good, but what really stands out is the environment. It as absolutely stunning. But the gameplay is mediocre no matter which campaign you do.In the end this isnt a bad game at all,but its not a great one.If you can get past the mediocre gameplay then what you have is hours and hours of enjoyment due to the long campaigns and ok online multyplayer.
Rated 8 out of 10 by Battlefield boy 55 Pretty good, but a few flaws
This game is really fun when you play as an Avatar. However, its not so great playing as a human or playing online. The first and biggest flaw is that when your using these huge assault rifles that the humans have, you can't focus in with the aimer! And if you have a giant gun that looks like a sniper rifle you can't zoom in! I don't know what the creaters were thinking by not doing that. Second, you can't use any form of hand to hand combat when a creature or person gets near you. No knife or beatdown or anything or pistol whip of that nature. Now, the multiplayer has a lot of potential. It would be great if more people played it. The avatars are great to play with because they have bows and swords. Plus, the creatures are really cool and fun to use. So I would recommend this game but when the part of the game comes where you choose the side you want, pick the avatar.
Rated 6 out of 10 by crsport24 This is what/how I feel about the Game and Movie Avatar
I(personally) think that that the Movie is Very good and the Game looks like it is also pretty interesting as well so I think(being a person that currently does not own this certain Game at all) that the game would be pretty good and real interesting to play as well.So in all I think that this game is very interesting and it really(because of how the Game looks) draws/ me to really want to play/buy the/this game for my Xbox 360.And I would really be pushed to tell my friends/family to go out and buy this Avatar Game for my/their Xbox 360.And if they(my friends) don't actually have/own an Xbox 360 at all I would also try to get them to go ahead and go out and also buy one of those as well.Because(like I have found out since I've owned my Xbox 360) it has some Great Games on/for it and theres only Greater/Better games that are/will come out for that system in the future as well.
Rated 10 out of 10 by BlazeRyder RDA or Na'vi
This is the best gun game that I have played so far. I have to agree with some people, about the gameplay. It is kind of repeating and boring. The graphics are amazing!!!! At night it is like you’re in the movie when everything glows. I mean everything…… the plants, the animals, and the water when you go for a midnight swim.. The same thing with the sound. It sounds like your right there in the game and/or the movie. When you’re in Grave's Bog it sounds like you’re in the rainforest with all of the sounds. And when you’re in a Na'vi Village you can hear the villagers talk. In the beginning of the game you get to choose your side: RDA or the NA'VI. I would choose the RDA because you can drive the Amp suit, gator, buggy, and the gunships except the Samson. You also get to have a gun's. So far I have played 107 hours. Once you pick up that remote you can't put it down!!!
Rated 10 out of 10 by Squeaky Lynn Good game.
At first when I read the reviews I was a little scared I have bought a bad game. But I like it a lot. I guess people gave it such a low rating because they were thinking it was gonna be like the movie. Yes it some what follows the movie lay out but not really only at major events do they follow the movie. Its an rpg that gives your exp for every kill and mission you complete. Every time you lvl you unlock a better weapon. I honestly do recommend either renting this game or buying it. I did expect more of the graphics due to the movie but it was still every nice. Its a good game all in all. I am still yet to find out what is is to be a human. I have only played the avatar point of view. And its a lot of jumping and climbing. I found out it has online and and it has capture the flag, team, deathmatch, hold down the base, and other stuff like that. Just try the game it is fun.
Rated 9 out of 10 by Battlefield boy 55 Multiplayer
As I said before this game is really fun playing as an AVATAR and online, but not many people have the game so there are not many people playing online. Ask for this game for Christmas and start playing online i promise you won't regret it, unless you play as a human. Like i said in my last article, the only good thing about the humans are there giant assault rifles which you can't even zoom in with. If you play the story remember, betraying the humans and joining the Na'vi is a lot more fun than staying human. Plus, when your and AVATAR you'll get to fly Ikran, or banshees. I really recommend playing online if you get this game because it would be so much more fun if more people played this game online. There are many different online modes, some more fun than others, but really fun all around.
Rated 10 out of 10 by Pengu97 The Critics are Wrong!
I am very suprised at the reviews that this game recived from critics. They said that the game was mediocore. I'm telling you this is a great game. Believe me. I havn't finished one half of the game, and it is amazing. Story line: You are a new recruit for the RDA. After a few missions you get to choose wether to join the Na'Vi, or stay as an RDA agent. Each story has good length. It's taken me 8 hour to almost get half way through the Na'Vi story mode. Length: As I just said, the game is long, so I won't write another paragraph about that. I'll just say, it's long. Controls: Controls are very simple. The reason I gave controls a 9/10 is that occasionally the Banshee controls (the dragon things the Na'Vi ride) get screwed up. Mostly they're fine. The other stuff is really easy to ride, especially the Dire horse. Graphics: One word: AMAZING! They are indepth and, if you have a TV that has a 3-D setting, you can play in 3-D. Challenge: The game has nice challenge to it. What help is that you can revive youself, so it's not impossible. If there was an Online catagory, this would get a 10/10. It's fun and there are 5 different game modes in multiple places. I recommend this game to all.
Rated 9 out of 10 by Bart223 It Is AWESOME!!
I saw the movie and wanted to get stuff from it. So when I saw the game I thought AWESOME millions of times. The graphics rock! The story line is crystal clear!Controls are the same as a shooter (wich I personally love ). The only thing that disturbs me is the length. Its pretty short. It only took me three days for me to complete it. And beetween school, its surprising. The charecters are really good. They look pretty similiar to the movie wich is really suprising ( if youve seen the movie you know what I mean ). What I like in the game is you choose sides beetween the humans and Navi Tribe. I like that because I wanted to excperience the story beetween both sides. You get to choose many weapons from both sides. I recomend this game to anyone who likes the movie or likes shooters.
