Once upon a time there was a company called SSI "Strategic Simulations INC" They made a collection of games called the 5 Star General Collection. These games were the Father of all Strategy games. There was Star General before any other space simulation. Fantasy General before any other Fantasy game. And their WWII strategy games are still the standard by which all turn based strategy games are judged.
You can find Panzer General and Allied General for the PS1 I am fortunate enough to have a 320 gig PS3 the Drake Bundle system that still plays my General games.
This game uses Prestige just as Allied General. It just needs to be bigger. It needs to be worldwide with longer campaigns. Some of us still love turn based strategy and will spend hundreds of hours playing great games.
The replay value here comes from having extra cash each new play through to purchase more units with.
It's too short, but buy this game and pray for an Xpac and sequel. Panzer General lives my friends,

This is a great game and is pretty shocking it has no reviews.
Well this is the second turn based shooter iv played this and xcom enemy unknown. Well this is a ton better.
There's a bunch of units to unlock and use like rifle men, bazooka men, tanks, planes, machine gunners, you can also change your guns and add skills to your soldiers.
Graphics aren't really good at all but they don't need to be.
The story is long and worth playing.

To put my full review would be about the same length as the Bible, so here's the GIST:
1. The actual strategy part is fun
2. Having some of the soldiers be named after real WWII soldiers (Audie Murphy, Daniel Inouye, etc.) is cool
3. Guns having effective ranges and shooting beyond that increases the chance of missing/reducing damage
4. It's often a tough choice of what units to send on missions
1. Fatal Friendly Fire incidents happen WAY too often
2. Enemy AI is superhuman, shooting MG42s sideways
3. Stealth isn't even an option available to you is "stealth" missions; you have to go in guns blazing
4. Having only some of the soldiers be named after real WWII soldiers and others having randomly generated names is distracting, and thus immersion-breaking
5. The shooting layout is laid out in such a way
that if you're shooting beyond the gun's range (range/what that bullet will hit is indicated by a red dot), you don't know what you will hit, whether it be a tree or post or one of your troops (leading to #1)
6. It's a often a tough choice who to send on missions, because some of the missions effectively require certain units (There'll be tanks, so I could send a bazooka or a tank destroyer, but there'll also be bunkers, meaning I'll need guys with HE grenades to take them out, we have to escort somebody, so one less space, I need a medic, an engineer, etc.)
7. Mission descriptions are HORRIBLY inaccurate. One mission told me there would be 15 regular troops. The tally at the end read 30 regular troops, a virtually invincible bunker, and 7 tanks.
8. Especially late game, it's too hard. I had to restart one mission a couple times. On the easiest difficulty.
9. The text is hard to read. The is more of a personal problem, as I play on an old SD TV, but it deserves mentioning.
10. The game doesn't tell you several key things. Such as, I had to Google how to destroy bunkers (you use HE grenades).
11. The "Patton's Skills" seem to have no effect, especially when I put like 5 points into increasing my ability to earn more prestige points and actually noticed a decrease.
12. The radius inside which you see units needs to be widened so you can see enemy units sooner and plan ahead on how to deal with them like THE ACTUAL MILITARY DOES, even back then they did it.
13. Damage-to-shots-per-turn ratio needs to be addressed. Logically, the more damage a unit does, the less attacks that unit gets per turn, right? Then how come the bazooka unit gets 1 shot that frequently misses and when it does hit takes out 99% of the tank's health, and the tank they're trying to destroy gets 9 shots of the machine gun that rarely misses and takes out half your health in one shot? Anyone noticing a problem there?
Basically, I would strongly recommend renting it and playing the first few missions. I would also strongly recommend that, after you complete those first missions, maybe playing them again a few times, and after that, you've experienced the part of this game; it goes downhill at an exponential rate after that. It probably sounds like I'm dumping on the game; that's because I am. I posed the positive aspects of the game too. The few, very few good aspects.

Maxium Games may be small but this game is incredible! I won it in a giveaway. My dads playing it :P
