History Channel: Civil War
REALLY REAL EXPERIENCE real cival war guns union soldiers fighting confederate soldiers tis is good :
This game is amazing!
I have always been looking for a shooter that's not in the modern or WWII era and when I saw Civil War I was convinced to buy this game. First this game gives you the choice of being the union or the confederacy and fight in the most famous battles during the civil war. This game gives you realistic weapons from the civil war era. but (here comes the bad news) when you use a musket you have to reload like they really did back then which is why I use the colt pistol or springfield rifle for some shots but most of the time I just charge the enemy with a knife. This game is really easy on easy I'm talking you can get hit by a gatling gun and stand there for two minutes and still be alive, but if you play on hard you can only take a couple shots. Compare it to veteran on call of duty 4 or legendary in halo3. All in all this game is great. if you're looking for a good shooter this is the one you need to get. Plus it's only ** bucks and it's at least as good as call of duty 4.
What a suprise!
i HAVE ALWAYS been a fan of the civil war and i have always been finally waiting for a game for console that has to do with the civil war. Now that i have it for 360, i am soooooooo happy. It was so cool , the graphics are good and the contols are great. Not only that the weapons, uniforms, and battle tatics are all so real! They also have a ps2 version for anyone who wants to buy this game with only a ps2. If you have a 360 though and are actually interested in the civil war than this is a great game and its really cheap! On easy, the game is well not just easy, REALLY EASY! my advice would be play on normal or hard if your up to it. Also the story has a bunch of cool facts too. Also i am a huge fan of shooter game so believe me when you are reading this review. BUY IT!
Civil war brought to life
I thought the game was awesome. First of all, people are used to the civil war being some black and white pictures in a history book, but this game brings it to life. One would assume that the weapons suck, but actually they are pretty good. The game is rather easy, especially if you are a shooting game marksmen, but it was worth it. The game had some of the most important battles from the civil war, but it could've had more. Overall, i'd say that if you are a shooter fan, and want to try something new, then buy this, and give it a try. Some people look at it, and refuse to buy a history channel game. But trust me, except where it tells you about the battles (before and after each mission) you would never know who made it. So if u want a good shooter, try this one.
A decent historical game...
Ok first off I know people feel like this is like Call of Duty, but just so you know its made by Activision which also makes Call of Duty. Overall the game wasnt bad, it was a decent shooter with a historical aspect added. I understand that 1 shot weapons can be a little annoying at times, but that was what the bulk of the soldiers had during the Civil War. I really enjoyed the battles and seeing them through the soldiers eyes. Even though the graphics werent all that great the game is playable and you know what your shooting. The sound really helps the atmosphere with cannons balls exploding everywhere and the "Rebel Yell" in the background. All in all this isnt a game for everyone and more for people who want a decent Civil War game that focuses more on the historical aspects then the gaming aspect.
The Civil War made for everyone
With a great epic score, lasting firefights with well placed set peaces set here and there, and good graphics and realistic civil war gameplay, what more could you ask for? This game is one of few historical games that succeeds at its full potential. Although the enemy AI may not be all that great and smart, that doesn't stop this game from being superb. Every weapon sounds the way it should and if you are playing this game on a surround sound speaker system, you will be blown away at its astonishing sound quality. The educational cut scenes are also a great part of this game as well. The narrator of this keeps even the most impatient person persieved. I recommend this game too anyone looking for a fun and very enjoyable warfare experience!
First of all, i know there are a few people out there who refuse to buy it just because the game is from the history channel. However, dont be fooled, if your a history buff, own an xbox 360 and enjoy first person shootersm this game is just for you. The game comes with a great narritive that clearly explains many important battles of the civil war. Also, the gameplay itself is vert entertatining with historically accurate weapons and locations. The shooting is generic FPS status and the graphics are pretty good as well. Though there is no multiplayer, the missions are diverse and entertatining enough to provide a good amount of replay value too. In my opinion i definetly reccomend buying this game and if you dont enjoy it, just return it (especcially with the very cheap price tag that comes along with it.)
Fun Civil War Game!
The emphasis in Civil War seems to be historical accuracy, which is done admirably thanks to The History Channel's participation. There are a total of 12 missions, divided evenly between Union and Confederate armies, all taken from the most historic battles of the war including Gettysburg, Bull Run and Antietam. The missions are offered in traditional linear style, but players can jump back and forth between each of the warring factors since Union levels are not restricted by Confederate accomplishments and vice-versa. If gamers like the Civil War then this is a fun game to play, otherwise avoid this game.
This is alright. The graphics are horrible for xbox 360, and forget about the xbox live part of the game. That's the only reason I bought this game for 360. I was hoping I could play team deathmatch as a union soldier, or something like that. Heck no, the only thing that ties this game to live is a leaderboard. Nothing else. The campaign is fairly easy at first, but as you go deeper into the war it gets really hard. I finally quit playing it after a while, since it got to a point where all of my fellow soldiers helping me died, ( I did my best keep them alive, but it's really hard to do while keeping yourself alive) , and I was alone against a line of enemy soldiers shooting at me, with no cover to use. It was very aggrivating. So, whatever you do, don't buy this game for xbox live! If you think you can beat it go ahead. I just couldn't get past that one part. You might be able too, but just remember KEEP YOUR TEAMMATES ALIVE AT ALL COSTS! That's where I always fail. I try and try, but they always end up dying. Hopefully you will do better than I can. If you buy the game.
Not fun at all...
Okay, I don't know if this is just me, but I personally feel like this game was a waste of fifteen dollars to me. I know it's kind of educational with the Civil War and stuff and how it happened, but the game is just boring. And the achievements are not exciting to get. I like achievements that are challenging to get or that it doesn't tell you exactly what to do and you have to figure it out on your own (or just look it up online). The graphics and sound aren't bad, but there is absolutely no lasting appeal and the gameplay COMPLETELY sucks. I bought this game thinking "Ooohhh, Civil War, that sounds cool." But I played the first mission and said "Lets go back to Modern Warfare 2." If you're buying it for the information on the Civil War, then please, be my guest. But if you're buying it because you want a cheap, cool game, don't waste your money and your time.
