Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part One is, at first glance, a Gears of War ripoff. The chest high walls, the weapon wheel, the spells that resemble guns... it's all there and very apparent. However, that doesn't mean it is what it looks like. These features are executed so well that the atmosphere of the game blends with reality to create a vastly superior experience to any previous Harry Potter title. Harry's Dynamic Cover system is useful for evading incoming attacks from threatening Death Eaters and he one other enemy in the game. The variety of spells at his disposal keep things fresh and interesting, with a machine gun spell, a sniper rifle spell, and shield spell, and claymore mine spell, a grenade spell, and many more. These and the other things packed with Modern Warfare- I mean Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows make it intuitive, exciting, and an overall breath of fresh air in the stagnant pool of first and third person shooters that pollute our era of gaming.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is definitely a first for me. In a long line of violent and gory M-rated games, it is my one and only T-rated game. I was very hesitant on whether or not I should buy it, and in the end, being a Hardcore Harry Potter fan, I did. Let me say I was NOT disappointed. The game throws you right into the action from the moment you start, until the moment you end. The graphics are very good, better than I had expected, and shooting death eaters and snatchers was very fun. The spells work great for the way it was set up (which was kind of like a 3rd person shooter, only with spells). Also, they adapted the movie to the game really well, but I think they followed the movie more than the book, and if they followed the book, it would have made the game a bit more longer. Overall, I really enjoyed the game, and recommend it to HP fans, hardcore gamers, and casual gamers. Can't wait till part 2!

First I wanted to say that there is only one bad thing about this game. Between storyline parts of the game which are quite accurate and very enjoyable, you must complete about three minigame sequences. They aren't completely horrid, but can get boring after awhile. The transition from movie to video game was done better than any yet, and the shooter style wand combat was really cool in comparison to the previous style. The game also is the perfect level for casual gaming, not too hard but definitely a challenge at some points the first round through. Secondly, the Kinect Feature is actually quite brilliant and funny to watch, (All you see is your friends flailing their arms wildly in midair). The hand movements work pretty well with the Kinect and are sure to be a hit with the little ones. As a True Harry Potter Fan I can honestly say this game didn't suck.
Rated 1 out of 10 by NCIS Worst and most repetivie harry potter game ever.
This game is just downright terible and it is not perfect for anyone! The story is lost in all the action since spelles are now modern weapons witch is completely unrealistic! I mean when in the books or movies did the spell change from a stunning spell turn into a modern pistol and that all I'm going to talk about for gameplay because this spell dosn't need to charge and it could easily defeat any enemy and this applies with the kinect challenges. But there is an even easier way to hadle the situation...RUN! Yes if you are not fighting a or are protecting muggle borns you can just run througth the whole game cutting off two hours which was originally four houres. Sound is alright with the exception of u-no-who and graphics are terible fron level design to charaters. Even though there are collectable they aren't worth the time and dosn't increase your lasting appeals. Fan of the frachise will be severly stupified by how terible this gime was. This game receives one out of ten to one out of five stars and I change my review of part 2 the video game to five out of ten to three out of five stars for now completely seeing how much better it is than part 1.Please vote weather this review has been helpful or not.
Rated 10 out of 10 by HarryPotterFan7362 Best Game I Ever Played
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 video game is really fun. For XBox 360 you can play it on the Kinect and it is really AWSOME. I love the graphics it is super crystal clear. I'm a Huge Harry Potter FAN, I wathced part 1 of the epic finally in IMAX and it was the best movie ever, a really good experience. I cant wait for Deathly Hallows part 2 to come out, by the way it comes out Jully 15, 1011 in IMAX 3D. Back to the game, there is a really cool story mode where you can fight Death Eaters and also what was in the movie. You don't have to play it on the Kinect because there is an option were you could play it normal. Bottom line, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1 video game is really really fun and once you start playing you just don't wanna stop.
Rated 3 out of 10 by Griffen32 A EPIC FAILURE
I got this game for Christmas and was really excited to play it so I put it in and within the next 30 mins of playing I realize.. THIS GAME IS A FAILURE! There are more cons than pros. The very few pros are: Great Graphics and a bigger selection of spells... The cons: this game just can't keep momentum because when your in the middle of a battle and you need to switch spells you have to stop the game and pick a spell I don't know about you but for me a MAJOR shooter game player it kills your momentum big time! Next the quest away from the main story line are just plain pointless and the Kinect feature all I can say about it is "Stupid" all you play do is play mini-games. I would not buy this game maybe worth a rental at most

Being a harry potter fan and the last movie coming out after reading all the books. I decided to purchase games 5 6 7 and 7.5. This one is by far the best game. The graphics are really some cutting edge stuff. The sound is awesome if you have a nice theature system, it would be great to crank up the volume with this game. I did manage to beat the game in one day after about 10 hours of play invested into it. The overally story is great too and the gameplay is as well. The story is quite accurate with the movie in terms of speech and stage setting and the gameplay was best for me i think because, although this was a linear game (not a free roam the castle game) the action was great. I highly recomend this game.
Rated 4 out of 10 by Hermione It's a decent game
I LOVE Harry Potter and was VERY excited when I heard this was coming out. However, I was disappointed. It's not a terrible video game overall, but it does get very tedious very quickly. You have the story line, and to continue the story line there are three missions you must complete in order to continue with the story line (the missions can be completed in any order) The missions are basically freeing muggle-born people and fighting death-eaters, snatchers, dementors (basically, people that are on He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named side). I found these missions to be a little pointless and irrelevant (Nothing of this was mentioned in the book or movie that I remember). You only have a few spells in which you can use, some require "loading" then others, so the minimal spell use, and "loading" can get very annoying. However, played on an Xbox 360 and the graphics are amazing! It's not horrible overall, it's a good game to play when bored or you just want to play it again (Which is what I do). Out of a 5, I give this game about a 2; and summarize in three words; tedious, consistent, alright. *(I wouldn't listen to those people who say it's down-right terrible, it's a good game overall, just gets tedious quickly and stays fairly consistent with the story-line part of the movie)
Rated 5 out of 10 by MN10 could have been better
This new Harry Potter game is not nearly as good as some of the previous games. This time around it is really just fighting fighting fighting with occasional cut scenes that don't really look to good, with non flowing conversations and faces that look robotic.
Well, the game play depends on which system you are playing it on... Wii? Great. ps3? good. Xbox? Not to good with kinect, not too much movement, and controller just doesn't feel natural. PC? Also good. All together though, the game play wasn't the best it could be. The spells were annoying to switch from, causing you to have to take cover just to change a spell if you are in battle, and you will often find the new taking cover button rather annoying, for example, your character doing it automatically.
The story line is nothing like the movie, making every little part of the movie into a major fighting seen, or an annoying stealth level where if a muggle sees you you have to start over. But over all, this game can follow the story mode at times, but it doesn't urge you onward to find out what happened next.
ps. I will be making a youtube account very shortly for those who are interested, though I do not know what my account will be or an exact date, so pay attention to my newer reviews to see news on it.
