Product Details:

In this 30 plus hour action RPG, players will enter Westeros, the gritty and medieval fantasy world made internationally popular by the acclaimed book and TV series. As one of two original characters with disparate motivations, both former soldiers of Robert's Rebellion, players will forge alliances and wage battles as they play a pivotal role in the ongoing war for power between the Houses of Westeros. Their journey will span numerous quests, during which they will interact with many characters and make key decisions that impact the realm.

Standing before the majesty and bitter isolation of the Wall or walking through the streets and alleys of King's Landing, players will not simply pass by locations and characters integral to the series; they will explore and interact with them, meeting and learning about the people and history that defines them and their importance. Key decisions and major events will have meaningful impact on Westeros, allowing the player to witness how the game world evolves over time based on their actions or inactions.

Moreover, Game of Thrones introduces an innovative "active slowdown tactical combat engine" in which combat mirrors the series' thoughtful approach to war and politics: fighting slows but never stops entirely, forcing the player to make quick, pressured choices before their enemy strikes again. In this way, combat mirrors the series' thoughtful approach to war and politics. In early 2012, with this epic new Game of Thrones game, fans will have a chance to not simply read or watch the story, but to take an active role in the riveting drama as it unfolds.

Martin, filled with characters and locations straight from the pages of the beloved fantasy saga - including the likenesses of stars from the cast of the hit HBO TV adaptation, Game of Thrones promises to deliver the ultimate interactive RPG experience for fans of its gritty, sophisticated medieval fantasy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Rubbish! This game was so bad I wanted to give myself a red smile. It really was terrible. If you can read this, do not buy the game! Yuck. So bad.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what I thought Although the premise of the game is not lost to me, there is too much dialogue, and not enough action.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GoT as an older styled RPG - It works. The initial reaction to most when they see this game or even hear about it is that it's a beat-em-up/hack-slash action game, and this is where the negative perception ultimately begins and ends. People expected this game to be more of a fighting game and with cultural comparisons to a time period like that of the ultra-successful Elder Scrolls franchise, it isn't that surprising that people expecting a GoT version of Skyrim were disappointed. However, I don't think that the more traditional RPG-style gameplay automatically makes this a bad game. I just doesn't meet some expectations you might have had. That said, Game of Thrones is an average RPG that non-fans of the franchise might find just as enjoyable because there's not a lot that you need to know from the books or the TV series to understand the story. Fans will be more aware of the character cameos and sometimes subtle references. The codex system gives those not quite in-the-know a little background information about cities, families, and the culture of Westeros. The combat mode is not turn-based, but in the vintage RPG style of using hit points, energy meters, and special attacks specific to different characters. Upgrading skills, abilities, and character traits is easy as long as you keep playing. Fighting hordes of enemies can be fun, but the in-depth storyline is ultimately what will keep you playing. The biggest downside to the gameplay is that it is somewhat simplistic and mostly linear. The environments look very large, but when you are in a town or a city there are many buildings, people, and doors that, if you are used to a more open-world style game, can seem sort of a disappointment that you can't interact with a great portion of them. Some townspeople will have conversations that you can eavesdrop on, but they don't really serve a purpose in the gameplay. I've heard that this game can be buggy, but I've never experienced anything other than some odd angles during cinematic cut-scenes (and there are a lot of them). Characters look a bit more cartoony than say Skyrim, and the cinematics are all styled the same. It doesn't look any prettier when they go to a cutscene. My main graphical complaint is that it is sometimes hard to figure out what you can interact with. As mentioned before, a good portion of the game environment isn't interactive, and when something is, you need to be close to it to interact. Not a huge issue (as there's only so much to do), but something that could've used more thought. The sound is pretty average, but the voice over work is excellent and they even manage to get a few cast members to do their own voices. In conclusion, fans of GoT will most likely be into this as long as they don't mind a different style of gameplay. Nowhere near Skyrim or even Oblivion in terms of depth, interactivity or graphics. However, the story is very good and I happen to enjoy the gameplay. If you're a fan of Dragon Age, you will most likely enjoy this. A good pickup used or new $20 or cheaper, 25+ hours of gameplay to help tide you over in the wait for Elder Scrolls VI.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from ehhhhh.....noooooo The story line is great, but as far as gameplay and graphics.. nooott so much. I bought the game knowing that, since its based on a series, that it would have its drawbacks. but, it did corraspond with the story and impressed me as far as analog, but i wouldnt recommend this to anyone looking for action or graphics. Long story short, its boreing and unneedingly complicated.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from HORRIBLE!!!!!!!! I bought this as soon as it was released hoping it would only be half as good as the show and was very disappointed. the combat is sloppy, slow, and frankly boring. The mix of a third person game and a turn based game was a bad choice in the making of this terrible game.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent story, sticks TIGHT to story Fantastic RPG, just like oblivion. Your choices DO affect the outcomes, the already prolonged story is backed by excellent side missions and quests. The graphics arent great, but they arent terrible, the gameplay and fighting styles are neat. If you like GoT you will like this game
