View Back of Box You aren't a soldier. You are a weapon. A paramilitary force infiltrates a multi billion dollar aerospace compound taking hostages, but issuing no demands. The government responds by sending in its best special operations teams, only to have them obliterated. Live footage of the massacre is cut short by an unexpected wave of destruction that leaves military leaders stunned and in disbelief.

With U.S. Special Forces in over their heads, the Commander in Chief turns to his final option: you. You've been trained to handle the inexplicable, armed with experimental high tech weaponry, and given full executive authority to end the crisis by any means necessary.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Going to play through it again... I purchased this game when it first came out, and loved it. Back then it was rare to find a FPS in the horror genre, and what I originally loved about the game was its gore and sense of suspense mixed with the slow-motion feature. (NOTE: If you hit the enemy just right with the shotgun, they'll explode into liquid slop.) Lately I haven't seen any games floating around that would be worth the cash, so I decided to buy this game (after trading it in years ago), and I'm really looking forward to playing it again. Its nothing like COD, meaning you'll probably play the campaign all the way through once and move onto to another game. However, if you enjoyed it the first time, a little while down the road you'll feel like taking another crack at it. The graphics are decent for when it was made, and the sound is awesome. Also, if jumpy, creepy little ghost-type girls weird you out - you might find this disturbing at the least. It scared the heck out of me a few times, but then I sort of got used to it. Also, the storyline is GREAT. One of the BEST i've seen in a FPS.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An aged game with a okay atmosphere. Like the title says an aged game graphic and gameplay wise the graphics were average for it's time due to this being a 2006 port of an 2005 game. Also, the gameplay has slo-motion effects often which isn't ground breaking, but it does help take out most enemies. The AI tend to be pretty smart which makes the game a little longer a bonus if you like the game that is. The sound and atmosphere were the real highlights of the game which made for some nice "jump scares", however this is not a horror game it is a fps with some pyschological horror elements added to the game from time to time. Which is going to turn many people off if that is why they want this game. Overall an average game that could of been better, but could of been worst too.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Overrated. Underdeveloped. FEAR is one of those games that tries to balance horror with action. And it doesn't do it well. It's far too difficult in certain sections to really immerse you in it for when it wants to scare you. Later in the game I found myself just rushing through levels because of all the backtracking I had to do. And the comic relief character was just terrible. Plus characters would get stuck in walls resulting in the Exterminator achievement becoming unobtainable. But I will say that it runs far better on the 360 than it did on the PS3.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Game!!! This game is awesome! If you love a good story line and first person shooters this game is definitely for you. The soundtrack is amazing. Graphics are a little out of date but considering how long ago it was released $10 is definitely a steal for this game. I have no bad comments on this game.
