Far Cry 2
BEST STORY LINE EVER
It takes place in war torn Africa where "The Jackal", a weapons dealer, ignites conflict between two organizations. This storyline is great, one of the greatest I have ever played. Sure the map editor is great, but you will realize the story is more compelling than it. If you are looking for a beast multiplayer game then save your money. This game's multiplayer is decent. You should get this game if you love realistic single player experiences.
Not Your Average Shooter
Far Cry 2 is a shooter that gives you freedom of choice and free gameplay. You can tackle missions in all of the ways that you want, and this is what makes this shooter so unique. The game gives you a large open world that you can explore. It is very original and I doubt that anyone has ever played a game quite like this. This game is very lengthy, at about twenty or so hours. There are collectibles throughout this big game, but I didn't pay much attention to them. Oh, one more thing. This game is extremely realistic. You have to dig bullets out of your body, enemies lose track of you when you hide behind bushes, and fire fight will go on as long as they have to. A big complaint that I have, is that the game gets really repetitive due to lack of enemy variety and weapons. That is why I moved this game down on the scale. Also, enemies aren't very smart, for you can shoot them and they won't even react. Far Cry 2 is also light on story. Overall, this is a game for patient players.
Realistics at its best!
The most realistic shooter game i have played or seen. From your gun jamming for lots of use, to swimming across ponds/rivers, to rain falling out of no where, then stopping, to night to day time frame. This game delivers and offers a lot! The ability to upgrade guns, ammo, brings options for weapons. Driving from place to place offers transportation in faster methods, than just walking! The option to play missions for the good side or bad side, whoever you say is good or bad. Free roam ability to change missions at any time. Not to mention the multiplayer feature. This game is a must for 1st person shooter gamers, Can be slow at times, traveling to places but the story or missions will keep your attention. I highly recommend this game to anyone who likes shooters and doesn't want to beat the game in 24 hrs! This game has more than 40+ hrs of gameplay. I actually have over 40 hrs of gameplay involved and still haven't beaten the game. Farcry 3 is coming out soon and expect all the good thing from this title in the next.
far cry 2
ok first of this game is WAY to unrated i mean people who are to use to mw2 shouldnt but this cause theyre use to easy stuff you got to adapt to this game the map editor is magnificent i mean its brilliant but everyday i hear people slander me for playing this but if you wanna try this game out then dont buy it rent it first cause not everybody likes all games, but the story is great and people talk about mw "jaw dropping moments" this is much better but they have falts like every game but people didnt take it like when it happends on mw, they keep on saying its the best but back to the point the jungle environment is the most realistic i've seen as well as the desert and savannas the gunplay is great but it does take alot to kill most people say but its called a "headshot" the sniping is great you can get IEDs the silent weapons arent good though the pistols you can actually make a good use with them (unlike mw2) just every thing about the editor is great the single player has a few flaws but i love it
Im surprised at how many people didnt like this game. I agree that the storyline could have been a bit deeper, but its still a great game. Just enjoy the ride people! This is supposed to be an extremely realistic game, and thats what it is. Although if there is a far cry 3, you should have the option of fast traveling. I guess its just 1 of those things where you either like it or u dont. The weapons that you pick up off of the militia jam WAY too much, like so much that its unrealistic. The variety of weapons is great though, not MW2 great, but great nonetheless. One of ubisofts greatest mistakes is that they failed to take advantage of the various "situations" in Africa. Ya, ok, they put the militia in the game, not enough tho. There are no political viewpoints in the game and no type of visible military powers in Africa (U.S., African countrys, etc.). That would have been interesting... And if you enjoyed the first game, that doesnt mean much here. The two are completely different. Great game, in my opinion...
This game will probably be one of my most favorite games for a long time. I never played the first farcry so i didn't know how the gameplay would be. Surprisingly i liked it much more than halo3 and cod4. The games story line is fun cause you kinda control it. The things that suck about the game is the malaria effect and how people shoot at you for no reason. The guns is the game so very realistic. It even sounds better than cod4 weapons. But the thing that sucks is you have to find diamonds to get weapons, and you also have to complete missions for the dealer to get newer weapons. The graphics are amazing, especially the fire effects that really impressed me. Map editor is just awesome, i already made 3 maps, and you can pretty much landscape your map the way you want it. Overall this game just rocks. I recommend for people who like long pacing games and who don't get mad at losing a lot. Because this game can get very hard a times. In my opinion my favorite game so far this year.
Wow, that's pretty much what I'm left saying after I picked up and played this game the other day. To start things off, this game's 4 years in development REALLY shows of with the graphics. Every detail down to the branches falling off the trees when you shoot them, to seeing an animation every time you enter a vehicle. The gameplay is also superb. The games map is 20 Square miles ( A LOT OF SPACE) for you to do whatever you want. You're supposed to be completing missions for different people throughout the game. This giant area lets you approach missions any way you want. Sneak in, or jump right into the action, your choice. The controls are also spot on. They couldn't be easier. Just pull the L to aim, R trigger to fire. The storyline is not "over the top" story, but it's pretty darn good anyways. The A.I. is also pretty good for this game. The A.I is pretty much unscripted and is pretty unpredictable from what i've experienced. Please do yourself a favor and BUY THIS GAME.
Let me first start off by saying, this game is the most realistic first person shooter game I have ever played. And it is very well made. From the weapons jamming, to having your buddy help you out in the middle of a gunfight, to start a wildfire with a molotov, this game always keeps you busy. The one thing that annoys me a lot is you are constantly driving from one place to another. What would have made this game better, is if you could fast travel whenever you wanted, wherever you wanted. (Take Fallout as an example). But overall, if you are looking for a good game that is affordable, has great graphics, gameplay, and even great online, this is the game to buy. By the way, you can even create your own maps using the custom map editor. And you can download maps other people have made too. Think of it as Halo's "Forge Mode", except you start completely from scratch. So this is definitely a game to buy!
A fun and unusual FPS that some don't understand
Far Cry 2 isn't for everyone.... read some of the user reviews here and you'll soon understand that.... This is not a game that holds your hand or pats you on the back, it's difficult, gritty, realistic in many ways, (your guns will jam, a hit or two with a jeep-mounted .50 Cal will end your day in a hurry.) and can be an absolute blast. I'll try my best to paint a scenario that will kind of tell you if this might be your type of game.
You are on your way to an assassination mission in the city at night when you see a guard-post blocking the road. Since you have your sniper rifle and good underbrush camo you turn off the lights on your jeep, pull off the road, and sneak to a good vantage point. You use your binoculars to see what you're up against.... 4 guards with assault rifles, a mounted .50 cal turret and a parked jeep. Your first shot takes out one soldier and you hit a second before the soldiers figure out where the shot came from. Instead of shooting long range they jump in the jeep and run you down while firing with the .50 cal. You throw a molotov cocktail in the brush and hope the rapidly spreading fire will be a deterrent. It works and you are able to sneak by the roadblock in the darkness.... until a second jeep that had been alerted by a flare that you hadn't seen fired pulls next to you and hits you with several .50 cal rounds. You are extremely dead.
In Farcry 2 you take missions from various factions and you then make your way to your location on one of 2 HUGE maps based somewhere in Central Africa I believe. Half the fun is treking accross the varied terrain which looks BEAUTIFUL... from the rocky waterfalls to the grasslands with grazing wildlife and the rivers running through thick jungles this game is definitely eye candy. Guns go bad and will jam up if you don't keep finding new good ones. Fires spread and can cause massive infernos. There isn't a huge variety of missions but because of the varied terrain and weapons (and the fact that you can approach your missions from any angle of the map and whatever time of day you wish) the same situation will play out differently if played several times. Enemy AI is good and the gunplay itself is very smooth...just don't take very many bullets. If you get hurt badly you actually have a kind-of "self surgery" button that rips out bullets or tapes up wounds but it doesn't freeze time; you'll have to find a quite place to do it or you'll get finished off.
You get from this game what you put into it.... a thoughtful strategic approach will get satisfying results while running-and-gunning doesn't work as well as it would in Halo. Some people don't like the open-ended structure but I found it very liberating. It really isn't a "sandbox" game like Fallout or Skyrim and you don't go around fixing everyone's problems but wandering around the world will garner you hidden suitcases with diamonds (the in-game currency) and breathtaking views of the scenic landscape. For the roughly $10 pricetag (Jan2012) it's worth the risk if the above information sounds somewhat interesting and you're looking for a solidly-built FPS.
Fantastic game, and so much better than the last far cry. Judging by the Call of Duty World at War Beta, Far Cry 2 is the better choice if you are looking for a good FPS due to what seems to be highly extensive playability. It is non-linear, meaning there are different ways to accomplish things, and certain tactics like flanking are important while hardly any tactic at all is possible in Call of Duty. It's a different type of game, so rent before you buy in-case its not your type of game. I'd compare it to HALO, but without aliens and science fiction aspects. It also has aspets of Grand theft auto with different cars and even a hang glider that are drivable and flyable. There is no prone possition which is a drawback to the game, and co-op mode could have added a lot, but other than that, I have yet to be dissapointed by Far Cry 2. I say its comparable to Goldeneye in its innovation and multi/single player playability. It will keep you entertained for months to come
