Great RPG for those dedicated to the genre
I have to be totally honest, Oblivion was my first trip into RPGs. I had always been a shooter/action gamer, however, this game has be completely turned where I now look for RPGs before others. Bethesda has a true concept of open world freedom and I loved the sheer time it took to wander around exploring. While there were some shortcomings in the detail of secondary objects, I feel as if they used the graphics engine and console to its fullest ability. The music and gameplay allowed for me to easily become part of the game and loose track of time playing it (easy to say since I had over 100 hours on one character). The replay value is incredibly high because of the sheer number of variations your character can take and evolve into throughout the story. Additionally, this version of the game came with all the DLC with it, so it was a HUGE bargain when I purchased it. I cannot express how great it truly was because words escape, but I can say it turned me into a hardcore RPG player from then on. You have to be dedicated, in my opinion, because it can be time consuming, but the more you play, the more enjoyment you get from it.
An Epic Tale for all!
By far this is one of the best RPGs I've ever played! Granted there is a set story about you trying to stop your world from being destroyed, but you have a world to explore none the less. At start you get to choose how your character looks, race, male or female, what they major in like magic, warrior or thief. Nevertheless the customization is close to limitless. This game has alot of replay value due to the fact you never make the same character twice and can join different guilds. My favorite guild was the assassins guild with where if you do well enough you get the choice to become a vampire. Its an open world RPG so there are many towns and people each with thier own personalities. If you want an RPG that allows you to explore the world and the creatures that inhabit it. Now as great of a game this is, it isnt for everyone. Alot of people might find it boring and drawn out, but to those RPG fans this is a great game for you. Id recommend this game to any and all who love a fantasy story and open world RPG.
Doesn't deserve game of the year
so, I went out and bought Oblivion a couple days ago. I thought to myself that if it was the game of the year and an RPG, my favorite game type, it must be great. Boy was I wrong. I found the only good things in this game to be the sound and the graphics. The graphics were really great. Another good thing thing was how big the game actually was. The map is huge and you can walk to every city in the game. The expansions also add a bunch of different things to do. Now the cons of this game. First off, there are way to many glitches. You can look them up online and find a variety of them. Another con is that the fighting in this game is way to simple. You just press RT twice and boom, the enemy is dead. The storyline is this game is also repetitive and boring. The same goes for the different guilds spread out in the game. The only reason I continued to play this game after 1 hours was due to the achievements. Overall, if you aren't an achievement freak, this game isn't worth the ** bucks.
Simply the best...
This is the game that changed my video game life forever. I hadn't played an RPG since Chrono Trigger back in 1996 before I picked up this game, and it blew me away. This game has it all, from beautiful graphics and scenerey that still look good 4 years later, to excellent gameplay and immersive quests that truly make you feel like you're part of what's going on. The played this game all the way through 4 times in a row before I even remotely started to get bored with it, and every time I started over I would find things I had missed the previous time. Some Morrowind fans complain that the game "holds your hand" too much, but personally I didn't mind that at all, as the main reason I couldn't get into Morrowind was the absense of quest markers on the maps. Also, the 1st-person perspective is a welcome change from the glut of 3rd-person camera nightmares out there (Sacred 2 comes to mind). All in all, if you are an RPG fan or even just a casual game fan, you can't go wrong here. I could have paid $120 for this game and still felt satisfied.
Best game ive ever played
Oblivion is awesome. It's so addicting, i just can't stop playing it. ive had it for about 3 months now and ive almost completed all of the quests in oblivion and the two expansions knights of the nine and shivering isles. i also have all of my skills at 100 which took a LONG time. Its a really cool game beacause you can play the game how you want to. you can do all the quests, make your own character, join a bunch of factions and just do what you want. there are numerous weapons and armor, but the best is madness that you can get in the shivering isles expansion. you can also fight in the arena and earn gold and fame and become the grand champion. there are a bunch of gliches, but some of them are good and you can unlimited gold and items if you want. you can also enchant your own items and make your own spells. it is no doubt the best game ive played, and i would definatly recommend this game to anyone who likes a video game that never really ends and is really fun.
Greatest RPG EVERRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!
oblivion is by far an outstanding game, it gives you so much freedom to either do quest missions or side mission when ever you want, or you can roam around the vast land of cyrodil. It's awesome because there's no midevil game that was done as well as this. There's actually no game that was done as well as this. What game can you have realistic battle with swords and battle axes. There's so much strategy and customizable features in this game. Overall it's a great game and the reaplay value is incredible. I got my xbox 3 years ago and it was the first game i got and i trade in games alot and i still have that game and never plan on getting rid of it.
Amazing, Awesome, spectacular, and did I mention awesome
This game is great. Plus the GOTY edition is a great price. Trust me, i payed full price for every download and loved every single one. This game has a good variety of weapons, spells, armor, and more. The game has some of the best graphics. There is some time were you'll be riding your horse or just running and the game will take a second to load it up but thats it; 1 second max. The overall frame rate is great. The game has plenty to do besides the main quest you got side quests, factions/guilds, random exploring and more. Plus not every cave or fort is linked to a quest. I can only think of 3 things i didn't like about the game. 1. Loading every time you go into a city or a building. 2. A million useless, pointless, annoying items. 3.That some spells will never be cast due to how much magic it takes not even an all out mage can do some of them. Well that's it I recommend this game to anyone. I'm afraid to pick it up again because I don't want to get addicted.
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is a highly immersive, and addicting RPG that allows you to simply do what you want! You could start with the main storyline, which isn't even where a majority of the fun lies, or you could choose from a variety of side-quests that have their own unique story-line. While the graphics are not as up to date as many of the titles on the Xbox 360, they are two years old and still hold their own. The soundtrack is very mellow and calm, but is more heavy during battle when it has to. Character customization plays a major role in how the game is played. Whether you want to use a stealthy and agile character or an all out brawler who uses brute strength to take out their enemies. Oblivion can be taken lightly as a casual RPG, or be taken heavily, for those twelve hour gaming sessions, it doesn't matter. There are countless activities to be done in this massive game. This game comes highly recommended from me for those who enjoy western RPG's.
