good game over all but...
I saw this game and bought it as my wife and I used to play the series cause it's a great hack and slash co-op game, but to my wife's disappointment the story mode is only single player leaving my wife to complain about how she don't want to play that charater or without me. Don't get me wrong everything else about the game is good, but the fact that the co-op is only limited to the choose your destiny portion. If you want that great co-op game that the game was known for pass this one up.

this game is freaking amazing.
I'll put it like this Dynasty Warriors 7 is the best game of the series so far. when it comes to the graphics they are crisp and clean cut and the story line is freakin amazing. Each character has so much detail about them and you get to know more about their background. like for example, Xiahou Dun's character is way cooler than before and when you are playing the story mode for Wei you get to see what Xiahou Dun looked like before he lost his eye, and so much more. Lu Bu, is of course still the most hardcore character in the whole game and he has some really cool new armor. All in all anybody who has been a fan of the Dynasty warriors since its birth will love this game and for any newcomers. I welcome you into one of the most amazing historically correct action packed video games ever made. Enjoy my fellow Dynasty fans. Much Love.

The best Dynasty Warriors yet.
I've always enjoyed the Dynasty Warriors series as just a sit back and chill kind of button mashing gaming for when you just want to beat the living daylights out of hundreds of helpless enemies... and Dynasty Warriors 7 still provides that, along with some surprising additions. For starters, there is an entirely new playable faction to join Shu, Wu, and Wei called Jin.
For those who don't know the history/novel, Koei didn't just pull Jin out of their butts, Dynasty Warriors is in fact (extremely) loosely based on a fantastic historical novel call Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Anyways, the inclusion of this new faction also means new characters (and their are a lot of them, in all the factions) including some of my favorites from the novel (and game series of the same name), Zhuge Dan and Deng Ai, which I was pretty excited about.
Anywho, besides the new characters, Dynasty Warriors 7 adds a more in-depth set of story modes (which I enjoyed), multiple musous for each character, and the ability to equip more than one weapon and switch between them in battle. Overall, it's a huge step in the right direction for the series... But it IS still a Dynasty Warriors game, so don't expect it to be revolutionary. Still, a great game for chilling with a few friends on a lazy afternoon... Or when you're aggravated and feel like taking out your frustrations on a horde of ancient Chinese warriors.

Dynasty warriors?
This game is unlike any DW game ever made, instead of playing as a character through the campaign, you play as the Kingdom itself, this way they have you play all the characters of the faction in key moments that they made a difference. They give SO much more story than usual, since you play as the kingdom rather than a specific player they are able to make the story for each kingdom very long, this way you dont feel like your just playing the same story when you play as Zhang Fei and Guan Yu, however, there is an option to play a game-mode called conquest which is a different campaign all in itself, this is where you get to choose which character you want to play, each kingdom starts with 2 characters and you must play through the conquest mode to unlock different characters, this is pretty much a revision of the traditional dynasty warriors that we play. The campaigns are more directed than free roam, instead of just playing any character and running around the whole map killing every last enemy, you instead are given a specific task that your character would have to do in that situation. If you disliked DW6 like em then this is worth a try, they made the game more realistic, but they kept the artstyle, instead of the typical characters we all know and love from 2-5 we have the characters from 6. Besides the artstyle the only thing I dislike about this game is that the players names are pronounced differently, probably the correct way, but still im used to pronouncing cao cao as "cow cow" instead of "Sow Sow" other than that theres very minor things that you have to deal with, an example of something to expect is repetetive audio from regular leutenants after you defeat them, but thats typical for DW.

A Step Back From the Usual Formula
Dynasty Warriors is beautiful in the sense that it realizes the potential and momentum the series should have already had. With 62 playable characters, each with unique weapons and those said weapons boasting several different upgrades and "Seals", the game is more content packed than ever before. The combat is still redundant in a way, but much more refined and compact. And with 62 different styles of play, there is more than enough possibilities to appease several different playthroughs. The game is not without fault though, and though I will not delve into those, be assured they are minor and bearable. All in all, DW 7 is a great game, and should not be dismissed as another rehash of any sort.

still not the same
4 was the best of the dynasty warriors. 5 was also really good then 6 came out...... huge let down. 7 was ok better then 6 but its just not the game i use to be able to play for hours at a time. the campain in this game though the best it has been. i was shocked when i found myself sucked into it. it gave more of a stroy then the others. the old story modes were really fun and you could play with friends. but this story mode let you know more about the ppl you were playing as. if your a fan of dynasty warriors then get it.

REFRESHING
Dynasty Warriors had started finally becoming Japan's Madden series where every year it just became a rehash adding maybe 1 or 2 new characters to ever roster, but NOT Dynasty Warriors 7. This game is innovative with fluent battle mechanics where attacks are marvelously chained reminiscent of games like Ninja Gaiden and no longer particularly having to pause for extended periods for your enemy to get up. With Dynasty Warriors 6, series became stale, but this game reinvigorated my entire perception. Luckily the game focuses LESS on saving your teammates, going across the map to kill each and every officer, and playing through 5-7 scenarios with the exact same character only to have to do it again with a different character fighting through the exact same maps. Dynasty Warriors 7 on the other hand switches out the characters in each battle that you use based on relevance of the battle, still separating the factions ofcourse but in this way you play story mode by Kingdom rather by character and this makes the gameplay go a WHOLE lot faster. The battle system I'd have to say has the most appeal, fluently chaining attacks on the fly, but they ALSO added the fact that you can change the weapon your character is using so that you can adjust their fighting style from fast and elegant with twin blades, to slow yet immensely powerful like with the Club or Pike. No more leveling up, All skill points now, which make grinding less of a hassle, and as for grinding, the battles are primarily story based and pushes the plot forward and I haven't found any time where I found myself needing to level grind to beat the mission like a pro. I highly recommend the game for ALL gamers, not just Dynasty Warriors or Koei fans, this game will make fans out of you. And I haven't even gotten in Conquest mode, with possibly the extra room of combining character story archs into Kingdoms in story mode, they had alot of extra room and pretty much combined what would be Dynasty Warriors 7- Empires directly INTO the game allowing for a whole new type of gameplay, reminiscent in previous titles. Between the rpg element, of skill points and buying weapons and switching them out, or even finding weapons. this game is all around great, voice acting though, still needs a little work, Yuan Shao, Zhang Fei primarily being far too high pitched than I would have imagined them to be. Should just stick with a tone reminiscent of the live action show based off the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novels and they'd be just fine, but that's my opinion.
