Rated 4 out of 5 by from My Favorite Dynasty Warriors Game Very good game. I had 6 and 7 empires, but both can't compare to this one. If you like the Dynasty Warriors series, this is a must have.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from take over china again but not as awesome i now have this game for 3 years now. i am a big fan of the Dynasty Warriors saga and waiting for the eight game to come out. Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires is really good and i saw reviews that it wasn't all that swell. to me 5 empires is really good but i don't like how they keep on changing the scenery of the different regions. the dynasty warriors games are not for everyone but many people enjoy these tactical games with swords and stuff. if i'm a fan so should you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Fun Experience Overall This game was not looking good when I first played it. With no prior experience with Dynasty Warriors I was lost and there is absolutely NO in-game tutorial. But after enough trial and error I figured it out and I gotta say, while not perfect by any stretch of the imagination this game is actually pretty fun. Now this is the very first Dynasty Warriors game I have played so I can't compare it to any other titles, but I feel this game is fun whether you've played any of the series or not. The campaign (a Risk-esque "capture the world" map.) is a pretty interesting way to set up the massive battles that this game holds. And the battles themselves is where the strengths lie, you get to tear through hundreds of enemies to take over enemy bases and take out commanders. And while enemy AI leaves a lot to be desired I still found myself enjoying it. And the best part is you can play the entire campaign with split-screen co-op and leading an army with yours friends is EXTREMELY fun. Now the graphics are um... Decent... And the sound... Eh. The music is enjoyable enough, but the SFX are iffy and the voice acting is hilariously bad. So all in all the game is fun, but is far from a masterpiece. It's a perfect casual hack and slash game.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from STAY AWAY FROM THIS GAME!! This game sucks! I played dynasty warriors 4 and it was good. So i had enough money and decided to get this game. Worst mistake of my life! It is the same exact thing. The only difference is the whole strategy thing. That's the only good thing about this game. And even that sucks. It's completely repetitive, and when you fight, all the AI does is stand there looking dumb. You could stand in front of a group of them and they just stare. The only people that fight are the officers, and even they aren't a challenge. I can take on three of them and get away barely scratched. Your people don't do anything either. The officers aren't even smart. They can't win a battle even if they have a bigger force. The only time they win is if you waste your time and go over there. Don't even bother glancing at this game. It's not worth your time or money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic New Installment! I remember buying this when it first came out. Fantastic game. The controls are the same ol' dynasty warriors controls which is good IMO. The addition of running your own country is awesome! By adding this feature they really extended the game's re-playability! You can create your own characters. They don't have THAT many different parts to use but it's sufficient. The graphics are pretty, could have done better for a next gen console but they were still good. The music is fantastic as always. The voice dubbing sucks. The game really doesn't have a story. It's more open ended. Players mushu attacks are very well done graphically and it really adds to the atmosphere. The AI hasn't really been improved too much but they do attack more often than older dynasty warrior games. Overall it's a step up from DW4 and it really is a must get for any DW fan. If you don't like the series though don't get it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Same Old Dynasty Why make another installment when all you are doing is slapping on the number five onto an already done title? And believe me there’s no change to Dynasty Warriors 5 from four or even three for that matter. Dynasty Warriors 5 has no storyline unless you call conquering the 25 regions of China and creating an empire a storyline. The graphics are that of an Xbox game with no enhancements to it even though the game is for the Xbox 360. The controls are also simple, smash button till your fingers drop, and the occasional moving forward with the joystick. The sound has not changed and the style and essence that make a Dynasty are all but here which fans of the game will ether like or hate making them want something different. The AI is also still as dumb as a door knob leaving only the bosses with more intelligence than the entire army combined. There are a lot of enemies to button mash around but is more repetitive then Chris Tucker’s jokes. So if you’re looking for a repetitive button mashing game or just in love with the series then this is the game for you, and for more intelligent gamers this game will be a waste of time and more importantly money.
