Rated 9 out of 10 by cataclysm117 Great game, but where's the sequel !!!
Despite what some would say, I thought that def jam icon was a pretty good game. Most people would say that this game sucked because it wasn't as good as ny or you can't use weapons anymore and stuff like that, but I thought that the game was well made and delivered. It certainly met my expectations I mean what more could you ask in a game that lets you fight other rappers with your favorite rappers. Not to mention the graphics are fantastic, or was for its time but overall it's still a beautiful looking game, and has a good soundtrack. All in all I would recommend this game to anyone who likes rap and fighting games, I mean if you like hip hop and fighting games then this game should be right up your alley, like you should definitely pick up this game when you get the chance to. So yeah people I liked def jam icon, sure it wasn't as good as ny but it still delivered and I'm still waiting on that sequel which we will hopefully be getting in the new systems.
Rated 8 out of 10 by Lightjack90 Not what Expected but Still a Very Good Game!!
I bought this game a few days ago and I was hyped about it. This game is a very good game there is no doubt about it but it did let me down at first. I felt that they should have included some of the features in Fight for NY but other than that this is a good game. The graphics are good, the gameplay is great and its a fun yet challenging game. All i have to say about it is that, if you are a Fight for NY fan, this game might not be what you expected at first but it is still a game worth getting. You might be dissapointed at first but once you get full on into the game play the past wont really matter. I like the way the character creation looks now because its a more realistic way of making the character and the characters thanks to the new graphics look much more realistic. The venues are more interactive than before and that is also a positive feature of the game. This game is a game i would recommend, its not what expected but its still a very good game.

pick this game while you can. Def jam icon has a great storyline, great game play, and its fun beatin' up the rap that you hate on the game. Like me I do not like Pall Wall. Still I say that this is better than the last two. They just ne to start using people from the label. They needed kanya. But still overall its a great game. Like I said buy while you can. The game also has a few of our favorite actors like anthony anderson, thedude cracks me up. I like how the places basicly come alive. The gas pumps exploding, The speakers sending sound waves, light bursting in the club, even the car that tailwhips you in the hood. makes fighting easier. The music is the greatest part of the game. The only thing I don't get is if fat joe has a song in the game and he ain't in it. he was in the last one. All I have to say is to buy the game. you will love it.

If the demo is reflective of the actual gameplay, they really messed this one up. Rediculously slow movement and response. One of those games where you hit a button and wait for your guy to do some slow laboured punch. I'm trying to think of a game that resembles it but it's been so long since I've seen a fighting game with such poor controls I'm having trouble remembering any. I don't remember how the Shaq-fu controls were but I'm thinking you have to go about that far back or pick some really obscure game from a developer who's never made a fighting game before. Surprising since FN3 was fine. It' s just a demo but it looks to be very unifinished and I doubt they could have fixed it up that much before the release date. The background graphics could use a lot of work too. They may have improved them for the actual game.
Rated 10 out of 10 by YUMS I LOVED IT!
The story mode is amazing, the story-line is even better. The story-mode is different with the choices you make, as u are a record label CEO or a&r or whatever if u take a hot unknown talent alot of people are after you and the game becomes more interesting theres more to do and u can upgrade ur user made character a lot, but on the other hand if ur a flop the story mode is a bit shorter and u wont be able to do much with ur character. Then of course once the story mode is beat its pretty much like tekken or any other game u just pick people and fight or u can redo the story mode and make different decisions and see how it plays out. ALL IN ALL THE GAME WAS AMAZING i loved the sound track ive had this game for almost a year i think and i still find myself playing it just about everyday. GO OUT AND GET IT!

I was greatly upset when I started to play this game. It did not live up to its expectations. I've played, beat, and was a big fan of the Def Jam series. Although like most 360 games it does not play good. The storyline was impressive and good. You become a music producer. Sign and produce hip hop artists. Full money management of record sales. That is very original and fun in a fight game for sure that gets a 10. The Music for the game and the graphics I have no complaints. Gameplay is challenging, then turns out to be long and boring. The age category it aims for gets in-patience, frustrated, and angry easily. Dj Ny was great. Comparing to that game, which most gamers who have played the previous games will do. It blows, it's the game you do not want. It will upset you in many ways.
Rated 2 out of 10 by Fabo31 Huge let down
The first time I played Def Jam Vendetta I thought it was one of the funnest fighting games ever. Then Fight for New York came out and completely took the cake with the story line, fighting and fighter accessories. In my opinion during that era no other fighting game matched up or had the lasting appeal like Fight 4 NY. So I highly anticipated Def Jam ICON and got the chance to play at a friends house and never wanted to play it again. The gameplay and concept of the game is way different which used to be look flashy and fight. All Fight for NY need was a sequal, more characters (females) character features, tattoos and ext. I meen why change too much of what sells. Point is Def Jam ICON is corny they should of kept it more original and I wouldnt get this game if it was free.

Rated 8 out of 10 by Alex from B-Town Very Intersesting Game
Def Jam: Icon is a very intersesting game. I just bought it because it was on sale. I had know idea what type of game it was. I just bought it. It turned out to be the best $edit i've spent in a while. The graphics are amazing!!! The rappers look exactly the same in real life. The game itself is a very fun game. It keeps you on the edge of your seets the whole time. All of the special moves you can do and everything just makes it even more fun. The online play is ok. The only bad thing about this game is the camera views. In some missions in this game they just plain awful camera views. If you learn to work around them you will have a ton of fun playing this game. I'm hoping there will be a Def Jam: Icon 2. I would definitely reccomend this game.
Rated 9 out of 10 by Mello Da King of Hearts The game which Def Jam artists are not in?!
This is fun and everything, but why put it as def jam because most of the fighters are not on the record label. Other then that I see myself have trouble being a dj and at the sametime a fighter. Now the storyline is great and so is some of the songs. The game lacks some of the things that Fight for NY had. But what really is addictive is the graphics and animation of this game. trhe selection of characters should be greater due to the artist that are actually on the label such as Jay-z,Nas,Kanye West and someone like a singer like NE-YO. The game is fun online as well by going against various different custom characters. So I would say grab it while it still doesn't have a sequel yet so u can experince the good to the best.
