after reading review after review about this game where people would bash it for saying it was too hard for them, i ended up buying it anyways because i found a great deal for it online. at first I agreed with the reviewers who claimed this game was too hard, but after I really got into it and picked up on the fast paced battle system, boy do they not know what they are missing out on! this game is one of a kind! the battle system is unique, fast paced and it is not made for casual gamers who enjoy button mashing with fighting games. there is no easy mode. normal mode is the default and even that mode is pretty hard compared to normal in most other fighting games. if you are willing to pick this up and really get into it, then by all means do so! it's a beautiful game with plenty of characters to keep you busy, costumes, unlockables and one of the best battle systems i've seen yet. i've become quite spoiled after playing this game! i expect this out of all of my fighting games now!

Dead Or Alive 4 is an intense fighting game that is to be played on the edge of your seat. Simple controls and a intricate reversal system make this game as exciting as intresting. Everymove still has being blocked. Rounds generally last 30 seconds and are lightning quick. Various Characters with different fighting styles give players a diverse oppurtunity for selection. Each of the 16 default characters have a storyline which involves other characters of the DOA Tournament. The characters generally speak in Japanese but have great subtitles and it a fighting game so dialouge is the least important. Each character has their own unique set of moves, properly displayed on the Command list. Dead Or Alive 4 also includes a survival mode sparring mode and a team batte mode which allows the two teams to pick 7 characters each and fight on and on until either player lose all their fighters. This game includes many good features and intresting fighting style. (All battles are hand-to-hand combat)

This game is easily my favorite fighting game. There is a variety of characters with different styles to choose from. The controls are great and only take a little while to master, and if you're having trouble with that, you can go into sparring which is a quick and easy way to learn combos and how to play the game. The thing I love about this game that some other fighting games don't have is the interactive environment. You can knock your enemy off a cliff, down a set of stairs, or into an electric fence. Whatever floats your boat. Another good thing in this game is that you can use counter-attacks. When your opponent has starts pulling off some huge combo on you, you don't just stand there and take it. You can reverse it and end up taking a nice chunk of health from your opponent. Also, if you get bored of story mode, you can head over to time attack, survival, or DOA Online where you can take your skills worldwide. This game is top-notch and I would reccomend it to anyone who enjoys fighting games.

Funny when I hear other people on xbox live talking about oh, this game is to hard, or oh this game is stupid I can't do any combos because it's not like Soul Caliber. This game is nothing like Soul Caliber and there is nothing sensitive about the special moves or the controls it's just the way the game is made, once you learn how to actually do the combos and not complain that you can't do them then maybe you'll start to like it. Also, for the AI Countering you, its because you're probably using middle punches and middle kicks and thats only 2 counter button possibilities so of course it's going to be hard not to get countered. Also, learning counters in this game is what makes this game different from other games because it's the first in it's series to use counters instead of block and hit fighting games, so learn counters in exercise and maybe use the D-Pad on the xbox 360 instead of using the joystick because usually it's more precise for completing special moves.

Dead or Alive 4 is maybe the best one in the series. The graphics for it coming out at the 360's launch are pretty damn amazing. Now for someone like me who has played every game in the series it still keeps the things that you'd remember but adds some newer things in there too.Namely one big add is for the halo fans:A spartan. But the characters from the series are all there even with some new faces like eliot and kokoro. One thing that newcomers may not like is the difficulty. In Dead or Alive 3 and Dead or Alive Ultimate button mashing was okay because there was an easy mode...In Dead or Alive 4 if you are new and do not know to the characters prepare to have your butt handed to you...a lot!The artificial fighters seem to have been conjured from the depths of hell for one purpose:to wipe the floor with your face and they pull it off, easily.even I had trouble with the final boss since her combos and grabs take down 1/3 to 1/2 of your health in one go.However I still recommend this game to anyone who loves a great challenge, beautiful ladies, and the lovers of fighting games everywhere!

I am a veteran when it comes to the Dead or Alive series, in other words, I've been playing them since day one. This game to me is the best fighting game I've played in a long time. This game is actually my favorite overall game for the 360 and it remains to this day. Where everything is awesome, including memorable characters, balanced controls, and great music. The only issue with this game that keeps it from being the best, is the difficulty. If this is your first entry in the DOA series, you're done for. Tecmo took the extremely hard difficulty from Ninja Gaiden and transfered it to DOA4. The artificial intelligence was most likely created by Satan himself, so if your just starting, you may end up never wanting to play this game ever again. Overall its still an awesome game, but if you're a beginner, start with Dead or Alive Ultimate or Dead or Alive 3, before you play DOA4.

This game is undoubtly the most skill based and all-out action fighter ever. From the freedom to create combos, to the new crazy move list added to the characters. They even changed the reaction time needed to pull off a reverse. This time around you need skill and not just pressing it repeatedly and getting away with it everytime. The physics engine to this game is still one of the best i've seen for fighting games even to today's standards. If you hit a street stand then your characters body contorts to the table like real life. Most of the moves now are far more brutal and have all kinds of ways to capitalize if you know what your doing. Even if your a long time player you will find a whole bunch of new things to learn and adapt to and also has a few awesome unlockables other then clothing(including a guess appearance). The only problem in this game is the last boss fight and the online on many occation. The game has pretty bad lag online alot of the time if more then 3 ppl are playing on one tournamentand the final boss is overly difficult and crazy cheap sometimes but can be over come if you learn it's techniques.
Rated 3 out of 10 by FabianOctober ALWAYS ATTACK!
the only strategy that works is ATTACK AT ALL TIMES IN A STRAIT LINE! no side stepping like in virtua fighter. no concern for range or counters like in street fighter. the whole game is about who can put together a never ending string of attacks first. if you even miss 1 attack the AI will then go on the offense and win. most fighting games are like playing chess. this one is like playing music. just keep playing and try not to hit a bum note! meaning dont miss an attack. if th Ai is attacking blocking is futile. often the ai will blast thru your block. the grab button is almost pointless. if you are not in perfect range it wont work. if your TOO close the grab wont work. ya IF YOUR TOO CLOSE the grab wont work. this game is interesrting if you r a hardcore fighting game fan. if not skip this. the graphics are really good.

I loved Dead or Alive from the beginning back when they were only arcade games and I love how the new Dead or Alive 4 brings together all the aspects that were great such as countering and throws and extravagant moves in the ninjutsu style as well as character design and then add new characters and depth to fighting in a height a speed system that's newer to the fighting genre. It's a game with deep difficulty and its definitely not a pick up and play game for players that aren't used to the fighting genre. It's a little too hard for that, but an overall AMAZING game that's worth buying over other fighting games any day of the week. Dead or Alive focuses on in depth hand to hand combat and the use of different martial arts styles in its fighting and this makes it unique.
Rated 9 out of 10 by ScOtTyZ An Intense Series for Hardcore Fighting Fans!
I've played the Dead or Alive series since Dead or Alive 3, and I gotta say... this game lives up to the rest of the franchise!
The graphics are amazing, and it goes well with the style of the game. The animations flow so well, making the gameplay top-notch! The variations of fighting style keep the game much more interesting, along with the characters that were introduced in this game. The only thing that I didn't like was the AI countering and the lowest difficulty being super hard. It's still an enjoyable game, and it makes me come back for more. Very smart system they got built in to it. My body wasn't ready for that.
Overall, it's an amazing fighting game that can beat any hands-down, and I'd recommend it for any hardcore fighting fans that love a challenge!
