Darksiders II is a very good game with a lot of platform jumping, puzzlers, and a very nice leveling up system. This being said, it is designed for people who enjoy frustratingly difficult "boss" fights, something I am not a fan of. The most disappointing thing is that I really enjoyed all the elements aside from these frustrations quite a bit. A cheat code or two to bypass the torture would have been a welcome addition, but those aren't very popular among game developers these days. Such an unfortunate development for those of us who like to be challenged, but not frustrated. Also, despite being labeled as such, Darksiders II is not a RPG. Leveling a character up does not, in itself, define an RPG. Developing a character means more than gaining access to a rather small set of abilities. However, I really enjoyed the game until I got to a boss fight that frustrates me, gives me headaches, and isn't worth subjecting myself to. But for those who don't mind doing so, it's a great game, and more power to you!

When I first bought this game I was a little disappointed as I was expecting something different. However, I gave it a chance and I have had countless hours of pure entertainment, challenge, and lasting appeal.
The game begins with various puzzles to solve that are not very difficult. But, as the game progresses, the puzzles and challenges get more and more difficult.
The game has an interesting storyline, great graphics for 720P, and true lasting appeal. I can't wait to finish it at novice level to try the more challenging levels.
Beside the main quests, there are plenty of side quests to keep you busy for hours! I do have to say, however, that once or twice I had to "cheat" and view a YouTube video when I got stuck.... But I'm not a hardcore gamer either.
I highly recommend this for anyone wanting to immerse themselves in worlds of mystery, danger, and adaptive choice making. The publishers got this one right from the beginning!
Rated 10 out of 10 by PunkerRockx23 AWESOME DEATH FOR ALL!!!!
I've been told that Darksiders was a rip off of God Of War and that it wouldn't be near as good as it should be. Well I haven't played the first one to be honest I jumped into the series such like when I jumped into Mass Effect and got Mass Effect 3, Well I have to say I've never been excited or amazed by any other game. This has blown my mind away like there is so much stuff to do on here it is addictive. I just got this game like 8/15/12 and I mean I've never been so amazed and or addicted to any other game then Darksiders 2 I would give it a 10/10 for Gameplay. It has to be the best game of the year in my opinion. And it has all rights and should be Game Of The Year and also comes with DLC content for Tomb and not to mention just more content around the corner for hours and hours of gameplay. I cannot wait for the weekend and be on this game alot more. If you want to add me on Xbox Live just add MassxPunisher that is my gamertag.
Rated 10 out of 10 by gamer202 A great puzzle/action game!
darksiders 2 fixes most of its problems that it faced on draksiders 1, but does have its annouying glitchs, but it doesnt damage the overall worth of its self. fighting is fun and easy, and upgradeing on the skill tree is easy but worth while, darksiders has always been all abought over the top action, and brain twisting puzzles, and thankfully darksiders 2 delievers on all my hopes. graphics are good, but when zoomed in graphics are blurry and undetailed, but for the most part they get the job done right! music fits the mood, and sound effects crash and slash till your speakers want to die, but thats a very good thing. For the most part draksiders delievers on all my hopes, wants, and needs. the entire time i played darksiders 2, i was on the edge of my seat, and thats another thing, darksider 2 is LONG!!! (I know thats what she sayed) but still it will take many many hours to 100% beat darksiders 2!
Rated 10 out of 10 by kall JUST what i EXPECTED and MORE!!
When i finally got the game i was AMAZED by everything. The story is great the environment is huge just like the developers said I will admit at first i wasnt that interested in the game cause i didnt see any gameplay but as soon as i did i jumped on this game and man im gald that i did. the controls are very respnsive and death just looks freakin amazing!!! the loot system was an excellent addition to this simply amazing game. I love when you save and have to stop playing and death is just standing where you stoped pplaying with the armor and weapons you equiped and he explains everything like a story. i litereally have no problem recommending this game to some friends. The only complainment that i would point out is the camera can sometimes get a little too wild during combat but other than that perfect game. I can see this going for game of the year! if you dont have this game it would not be a bad idea to go out and buy it you wont be sorry there are hours of gameplay. the first dungeon took me 3 hours to finish just because i was looking around for more loot. anyways great game the best release all summer!
Rated 9 out of 10 by mangbang66 A Major Improvement Over Darksiders
I was hesitant about this game before buying it because the first Darksiders didn't have the replay value I was hoping for. This game, however, changes all of that. There are more areas to explore, weapons to obtain, and hidden bosses that the first game didn't have so you can go back and play it again if you overlooked them. The combat is fluid, the variety of moves is great and you just feel like a badass. The story is awesome like I expected and the art style makes everything look great. So far, I'm about 18 hours in and I don't think it's gonna end very soon. It briefly summarizes the events of the first game, so it's not necessary to play the first one, but the characters, story and gameplay of the first are worth looking into. Darksiders 2 definitely worth my time and money and I'm sure many who try it will agree.

I pre-ordered Darksiders II and got it when it first came out. The differing puzzles were kind of hard to figure out but when i did figure it out, i would tell myself: "Sneaky sneaky, Vigil!" Some of the quests are time-consuming though. the Dead Council quest took forever to complete especially with the Judicator's Tomb. But Vigil did make sure that you were well rewarded.
Death's combo's are downright brutal and the bosses have a differing fight rather than just hack/slash/shoot them to death and if you didn't do it right, you'd be hurting.
For not playing Darksiders 1, I felt like I actually had a clue on what was going on and on the loading screens, rather than waiting for the game to load, it would tell a sort of tale on what happened in the main plot-line which made the load time seem a whole-lot shorter.
Rated 9 out of 10 by Kegley Darksiders in a whole new way.
This sequel is what I think the first game should have been. There is a complete loot system with multiple types of weapons, different pieces of armor, and varying levels of rarity as you progress through the game. The combat is a lot faster compared to the first, and is a lot more fun. You can buy new moves to create bigger combos and which weapon type you use creates different moves as well. The game this time around using an RPG focused leveling system for your character, with each level you gain a skill point you can use to gain either new combat abilities or new summoning abilities, which adds more depth to the combat system as you play through the game. The game's world is much larger than the first, and a complete playthrough should take around 25 hours of solid fun. There is also a New Game+ mode where you keep all of your skills and levels then start over again, that mode along with a soon to be released "Arena" mode offer a lot of gameplay choices even after you have beaten the game. Darksiders II for me is the RPG I wished the first one would be, but Death's storyline and character have taken this franchise to a whole new level. Must own game, you won't be disappointed.
Rated 7 out of 10 by Kiaquaii Pretty good!
The fighting is smooth (my only complaint being the fact that you don't always know when he takes damage because its not always apparent enough), and its got pretty good graphics! Personally, I think the 'puzzles' get a little... repetitive? however. I also tend to over think them, lol. I usually don't mind games that take their time, because I love story! But I personally think this game may be slightly too slow. To be completely honest, I got this game around Christmas time and still probably not even half way through because its a little bit... boring? and repetitive for my taste. I also just can't seem to get into the story. Don't get me wrong though, it is a pretty good game so far and I will finish it eventually. I would defiantly recommend this to someone.
Rated 0 out of 10 by NarcoticSqurl Vigil made everything about the first game better!
I've heard a lot of complaints about how Darksiders was a rip off of Metroid, Zelda, God of War, etc. To be honest, I even used the God of War and Zelda combo to describe the gameplay to my wife. The fact is though, that Vigil were already in the middle of production when God of War came out. They did a lot of things in the first one that made it a great game, and brought back screaming memories of a lot of really great old-school games. In all the promotions I've seen for Darksiders II, I can only say that I've not been this excited for a video game in years. Since at least N64. (I'm 21 and have been playing video games since I was 6, starting with the NES).
The loot system, skill trees, customizable armor and weapon combos, and the immense system of weapons and armor is an amazing addition. Not to mention the vast size difference in the world from I to II is a welcome difference. But my biggest reason for being so excited for this game, is Death. Ever since I can remember I've had a fascination with the personification of Death. Death, Grim Reaper, Azrael the Angel of Death, and the image of the Skull in general. I'm excited for this game, and the chance to play this personification. I honestly almost can't wait.
