Like it, but disappointed
This game is something I've been waiting on for quite a while now. When I first read about it in GameInformer, I was psyched, this sounded like exactly the game I love. Man becomes monster and in doing so becomes a decent man. Plus you have guns, blood, and lots of chopping off of heads. After finally playing Dark Sector I must say I'm actually disappointed. Visually this game is probably one of the best on the 360, but story wise it is very lacking. So much of what I read about in the GameInformer article was either completely missing, or just a basic version of what was described. Considering this was one of the first games annouced for the next gen consoles, I was expecting more. I loved the gameplay, it was just too short, and not too mention you really have no idea what is going on. If you love a good hack and slash, with a little bit of 3rd person shooter, pick this game up. But if you're looking for a intricate, conspiracy laden story based game, you will be disappointed.
Great find , i heard of this game awhile back, digital etremes was working on it (same guys who worked with EPIC to make unreal tournament)
this game blew me away visually , its on par with gears of war 1, the game-play mechanics are very cool, basically you have the Glaive , its like a wicked boomerang weapon that u can use elements with,Fire Ice, Electricity etc. to slice apart your enemies(this game was actually banned in Australia due to that) not to mention you have an array of weapons that you can upgrade and place attributes on to make em better, also as the game progresses you get more ability's i.e. bullet reflect , and after touch which allows you to steer the glaive so you can decapitate disembowel your enemy's with ease, great game D3 this is definatley a very underated Gem right here, giv it a tray its only 5 bucks cant go wrong with this game , its very action oriented , im glad i had the pleasure of picking up this game.
Waooo!! this is good!!
Well I don't remember exactly when this game came out, but i just got it last friday, and was a little bit not sure if this gonna be a good one, but Im very glad i was wrong, this game is good the graphics are very decent, the story line is interesting, nothig new but not boring ether, the only issue i found is the control, sometimes get a little bit slopy, besides that this game is very entertainment, remindsme Resident Evil (the concept of the game) the zombies are kind freacky, i did'nt finish the game yet but until now i don't have any complain i Don't know why some people complain about this game, is just funny to me the fact when a game before came out all people is like a "oh i can't wait for this game" and then this people say oooh this game sucks!!! i Don't know i gues I am not very peaky or exigent, well any way this is the kind of game will keep you busy for a couple of weeks if you like played again and again, this is a good game to enjoy for a while.
a taste of gears with a twist
dark sector feels alot like gears of war. once you start playing it, you'll almost immediately get a gears of war sensation from the similar game play mechanics and abnormally similar environments. but it does have its differences too. for one, the mediocre story line has your character become infected with the mysterious virus. this virus gives you the powers of the glave. a hand held throwing weapon that cuts your foes limb from limb. it is smartly combined with fire arm combat so you don't completely rely on the glave. the powers are particularly awesome as you unlock them early in the game. the evolution engine is spectacular showing incredible graphics and animation and the game has a decent length. one of the coolest features of dark sector is the executions you may preform on wounded enemy's. when they glow red, get in close for an awesomely gruesome incapacitation. ultimately, dark sector is worth a play through for any gears or 3rd person shooter fans.
A Refreshing Third Person Shooter
Dark Sector is a sinister, morbid game in which the player controls C.I.A. agent Hayden Tenno who has been sent to a Lasria to complete his mission of killing a man who intends on infecting humanity with a virus. After something goes wrong, Hayden finds himself infected and throughout the game he struggles to rid himself of the virus and take down his target, Mezner, the madman spreading the infection. The story holds up pretty well but one play through isn't enough. After playing through the game twice I found the story more engaging for the simple fact that I knew what was going on because it was already familiar to me. Graphically, this game is absolutely gorgeous and definitely one of the prettiest games for the Xbox 360. The sounds are fantastic whether it be a shrieking soldier who just lost a limb or the clang the glaive deflecting off steel, it all sounds great. The gameplay is very reminiscent of Resident Evil 4 and anyone that was a fan of that game should check this out because it's very similar with the addition of a duck and cover system. The gunplay is also entertaining but you will definitely find yourself using the glaive since it's fun and quite addicting. Hayden constantly evolves throughout the game becoming stronger and acquiring different abilities which essentially make him more of a killing machine as the game progresses. The one flaw of this game is it's fairly short, about eight hours to complete with single player campaign. Overall, this is a great third person shooter with some cool elements that haven't been done before and it came out pretty excellent.
Fun but not perfect
The gameplay is really fun, and at times is actually pretty challenging. The graphics are superb, as is the music. This game is in the dark style of the Condemned series, the locations are often similar to those in Metro 2033, and the music at times is similar to that of Resident Evil 5, all of which are great! The AI is okay, and actually knows when to hide and when to shoot, though is almost impossible to sneak up on them until later in the game. You can snipe enemies with your handgun with poisonous bullets, which is cool. The major problems with this game are the under-explained story (it was pretty loose, characters weren't introduced properly and their relationships/histories are a mystery), the short and vague ending, and the lack of replay value. This game's story is pretty much the bare minimum, the ending is quick and is a let down, and unless you REALLY liked the game, you probably aren't going to play it over again. It really left me wishing it's story had been fleshed out more and longing for a sequel. Overall it is a very fun and interesting ride while it lasts.
ok let me start off by saying wow! i was amazed when i brought this game home to play. i bought this game to pass the time until i bought dead space and i ended up liking it just as much. for 6.99 you couldnt buy a better game. the challenge was really good and you get to use amazing weapons. the galive is awesome, it has so many features that will help you defeat numerous enemies. the graphics were freaking amazing. the story line was good but, it doesnt give you a lot of background before the setting of the story wich was a little disapointing but it didnt ruin how much i love this game. you basically are betrayed by the government in the game and its up to you and the galive to fix things. the length of the game is great it has about 10 hours of gameplay. and will leave you waning more after the game is over. as much as i would love a sequel i feel it would ruin the franchise of the game and make it money hungry. so if you want a long lasting game that is amazing graphicswise , storywise and lengthwise then go to buy this game.
This A really cool game!!!
Hey if you are looking for that game you always put off to get til the last minute?? Well then don't wait any longer on this one!!!!!! DarkSector is a really cool game I bought it a year ago and am still amazed about how good this game play's and feels i'm no stranger when it come's to gaming and with DarkSector your in for a ride.First off you play as Hayden a man gets droped in Mother Russia and has to uncover a grim secret hidden buy the government that he's fighting for, at the same time he has to succumb to an organic weapon that is sweeping the contry of Russia and when that happens is when Hayden get hard core he's given the BLADE!!! yeah it takes awhile to learn how to just get everything right but when youo do this game begins to shine.I promise you this try this game you shouldn't be dispointed if you are well tuff play it anyway........you know you want to........;)
Decent grfx but alot of issues
For 3 dollars that i paid for preowned, i'd say it's jst about what it's worth. Finished it in 4 days, which is longer then some games i finished in 2 days. Very linear game where you really can't get off course and get lost. Grfx r very good. but the environment is very non interactive. It's like looking at bunch of nice pictures. Anything that will interact is basically lit up, so you can tell what you need to hit. The game is kind of like the old Krull 2D game in the arcade meets Resident Evil meets military style game. Storyline is mildly interesting. The character gets upgrades and different guns, but you can only carry 1 gun at a time with all the upgrade packages you pick up throughout the game becoming mostly unused. The neatest part of the game is the slow-mo effect you can do with the Glaive (Krull like weapon) and guide it in mid air to the target. The glaive is not much of a weapon, and you only really need to use it at certain parts in the game as required. The boss monster is moderately difficult to kill, but if you figure it out, it's easier then it seems. It's better then the worst games i've played so far, Wanted and 007 Quantum of Solace, becuz it has some originality and grfx was better. I got some entertainment out of it, and for the price of a burger and cheaper then a movie at a theatre, it was worth playing.
This game has some interesting aspects to it. Such as your main weapon (the Glaive) and taking the point of view of someone who is not only fighting infected, but also becoming one and the upgrades and cool powers you receive throughout the game. However, the story isn't overly original, and there are definitely mechanics taken from other games (such as the cover mechanic). But this doesn't mean it's just another rip off. There's enough here to keep you interested for a while. And there's been several times I've wanted to do other things but at every checkpoint something draws me right back in. And if your into gore and sickening crunching and slicing noises, this game won't disappoint. But if online is your interest, then this game isn't for you.
