An abducted soul. A lifetime of sins. A journey to the depths of despair. Based on the immensely influential classic poem, Dante's Inferno takes you on an epic quest of vengeance and redemption through the Nine Circles of Hell. You are Dante, a veteran of the Crusades who must chase his beloved Beatrice and try to free her soul from Lucifer's grasp. As your pursuit takes you deeper into the pits of Hell, you must battle ever more fierce and hideous monsters - while also facing your own sins, a dark family past, and your unforgivable war crimes.

EA's Dante's Inferno will take gamers to the western world's most definitive view of the afterlife as created in the 13th century by the Italian poet Dante Alighieri in part one of his epic classic, "The Divine Comedy." The game is shipping in 2010 for the PLAYSTATION 3, Xbox 360 and the PSP. EA's Dante's Inferno tells an adapted story that focuses on delivering a blockbuster 3rd person action game experience while bringing Alighieri's depiction of Hell to the medium. Players assume the role of Dante, who descends into Hell after returning home to find his beloved Beatrice murdered, with Lucifer seducing her soul into the underworld. Dante sets out on a rescue mission to save Beatrice, but he soon realizes he is also in Hell to face his own demons and ultimately to redeem himself.

Players will take Dante through nine unique circles of Hell as mapped out and described by Alighieri: limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery. Each circle will showcase its own distinct look, with demons, monsters, damned and geography that are crafted straight from the poem's vivid descriptions.

To take down the demons of Hell, Dante is outfitted with two primary weapons: the Scythe he takes from Death and the Holy Cross given to him by Beatrice, which has spiritual powers that will help Dante collect souls and spells from the creatures he defeats on his journey. The game also features a deep upgrade system so gamers can customize their abilities to their specific gameplay style, something they'll need as Dante comes face to face with Hell's fiercest beasts and bosses. If successful, Dante will be able to tame certain beasts, exacting their will and turning Hell's punishments back on itself.

Built on the same technology as the award-winning Dead Space, Dante's Inferno will deliver a fast, fluid and responsive combat experience running at 60 frames per second, a must-have for the action adventure genre. The game is being built by Visceral Games, with the same attention to polish the studio has become known for with Dead Space.

  • An Epic Adaptation of a Classic - Based on part one of Dante Alighieri's classic poem "The Divine Comedy," Dante's Inferno is a 3rd person action adventure game that takes Dante on an epic journey through Hell as he seeks to rescue the soul of his beloved Beatrice.
  • The Nine Circles of Hell - Just like the poem, players will descend through Dante's unique nine circles of Hell: limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery. Each circle features distinct environments, enemies and story elements befitting the sins committed by their inhabitants.
  • Control the Beasts of Hell - Dante's Inferno features large scale beasts and bosses, some of which Dante will be able to fully tame, utilizing them to throw back Hell's wrath to its minions.
  • Fast, Addictive, Responsive Combat - Dante fights through the nine circles armed with Death's Scythe and Beatrice's Holy Cross, with magic powers and a deep, customizable upgrade system helping the player take full advantage of a fast and fluid gameplay experience that will never run at lower than 60 frames per second.
  • Bring Hell With You Wherever You Go - Dante's Inferno gives PSP owners the same level of fast, responsive gameplay through all nine detailed and unique circles of hell the team is aiming to achieve on the consoles.
  • Visceral Games Stamp of Approval - From the award-winning studio that created the criticallyacclaimed Dead Space, Dante's Inferno will receive the same relentless focus on quality and polish Visceral Games has become known for.
  • Be Righteous or Unholy - choose to punish or absolve the damned, affecting your character's abilities throughout the game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Adicting This is the perfect game for the beginner/casual player I just inherit an xbox360 from a friend from the Fire House, and this game came with it, I'm little by little getting used to the controller, but as far as the game goes its fun ,fast paced and engaging. I am really enjoying playing it .I'm not a big gamer just a regular guy, things have really changed since the original Nintendo days, but all I have to say is wow the graphics are cool. Good game for the beginner entry level player.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great game, but seemed short This was an impulse buy for me and ended up being rather fantastic. The character's reaction time is great, and the graphics are good. It's brutal, bloody, a bit stomach turning, and everything a game about the 7 levels of heII should be. My only complaint is that the game seemed short. I blazed through it pretty quickly, and while you can make the difficulty harder, the game itself isn't one I can play over and over. Wish it would have been longer or had a sequel.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A Fine Hack and Slash Experience First I need to say that I've never been a big fan of pure action games. I enjoy a nice balance between plot and action with some depth in customization and such. Dante's Inferno makes for a fine action game, the hack and slash experience doesn't let up from beginning to end. The enemies and bosses are outlandish, creative, and slightly frustrating and repetitive after a while. The bits of story that is is provided through the paint style cutscenes fail to fill in downtime between combat sequences. Although I am an English major and have had a great time studying Dante's Divine Comedy that serves as a loose basis for this title, I can't say that I enjoyed the game as much as the literature. In short, if you enjoy endless hack and slash action without much downtime or plot moments, this game may be for you. Sadly enough, it's not the one for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than God of War When I first saw this game I thought it was going to be just a regular swords and knives kind of game but I was so wrong. This game is amazing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Plenty of Action !!! This game I feel is compared to God of War way too much,it's called a God Of War copy cat and I disagree completly. I love God Of War but believe in giving credit when it's due. This game is based on The Divine Comedy a book that was written almost a thousand years ago and it's anything but ''Comedy''. It's based on a man named Dante being led into the nine circles of The Inferno by a deity named Virgil. The game starts out big and never lets up. I loved the Virgil commentarys on his view points on every circle of the inferno. The graphics are top notch, every circle is incredibly detailed. The sounds are also top notch from the incredible voice acting,Lucifer was creepy and taunted you throughout every circle. The Story I felt was really poor more like a Greece setting of so many people traveling to Hades to get their loved ones and in the end I felt that the ending was such a letdown. The boss battles were great and they were tough. Cleopatria was huge. I was dissapointed to see in the later half of the game the same eneimies over and over like the Gluttons,Heretics, and naked women Demons in circles like Violence,Fraud, and Treasushery. They should have made big and scary monsters for those circles. The mechanics are iffy at times forcing you to die until you get the jumping from one gap to the next just right. The Circle of Fraud was nothing more then a dumb challenge area, and it was tedious, and boring. I didn't understand the whole Evil playthrough at all why is Dante evil for punishing the people there, its not look he is killing innocent people. They are there for a reason. These problems can be overlooked for such a good game. This game is NOT FOR KIDS. It has nudity, strong adult content, and creatures that would give nightmares to a kid for weeks. I feel that this game was rated average way too many times. This game is not average its incredible, but not perfect so a 9/10 I feel is really good. If you like hack and slash games like God of War,Darksiders,Devil May Cry then you will enjoy this game. For 10-20$ it is worth every penny.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Similar to God of War If you're a fan of the God of War series, you're gonna love this game. The gameplay is very similar to the God of War series for the Playstation.
