Fun hack and slash
The game play feels very similar to God of War and with the different weapon combinations it never really gets old. It is a pretty good action adventure game with decent level design. The story didn't really hold me but it was still fun to play.
Bloody Good Fun.
This game is for ADULT gamers; seriously, do not let your child play or watch this game. Ron Pearlman lends his voice as Conan the Barbarian and does a fantastic job. A Hack & Slash God of War clone using the Conan license, the game is a few hours of mindless fun. The graphics look good, the story is interesting, and the game is fun...for a while. It rehashes itself too early and too often and loses some of its appeal. Conan slices limbs off with glee and there's more blood flying around in this game than in a Saw movie. The game is pretty simple, but some of the boss battles are hard as heck. The game is now only $5 and for that price you can't go wrong. It's not a Red Dead Redemption caliber game, but for $5 it doesn't need to be. It's a fun escape and is worth picking up to play around with for a weekend. But like I said in the beginning of this review - keep it away from the eyes, and out of the hands, of children.
Fun God of War Clone
This was a really good game. If you liked God of War, this is a game you'll really enjoy. It's a shame it didn't sell better because it's a lot of fun. The combat is very polished, the bosses are clever and the story is fairly engaging. Plus, you get to be Conan, who is a hero worthy of a game like this. I'd definitely recommend picking this up if you want a fun game to blow through for a few days. For a used copy it's like $2.70 right now, so you can't go wrong. Highly recommended.
great but tricky
This game is off the charts, but it is extremely challenging, maybe to challenging for a game like this. I was playing the first level of the game and I could still not get passed the really tough guards with the heavy shields. Then the guards start attacking you constantly when you can only kill one at a time. Anyways the graphics are pretty good to show a 2008 game. The sound was pretty good but could of been improved though. Interface was okay but that could of been improved to. The length of the game is great, but this game does have similarities to god of war. When you get health in this game, you have to break open boxes to get health, and the health is green and red orbs. And conan has to rescue a couple of caged prisinors and one of them looked like kratos from god of war. Anyways I would reccommend this game to a friend or family member. Just notice that this game is not easy and you will not zip right thorough it. This is why i like this game alot.
Conan the King.
Don't listen to the haters. Sure, it's a God of War clone, but c'mon - it's CONAN. Conan is just a seriously bad dude, and for a mere $10 you're going to grin, laugh, and have a good time. No it's not perfect, but to me the best measure of a game is 'do I enjoy playing this game?' and Conan scores a resounding "yes" in answer. Controls are very simple and picking up the game is easy. Attacks are fun, but where Conan really shines in its combat is the special parry attacks which are gruesome and satisfying. There's something quite enjoyable about watching Conan leap into the air and slice a bad guy in half or watching him punch into an enemies stomach and pull out its intestines. The game is very adult in its themes and, although you can turn the gore off, it isn't one you should allow your children to play or even watch. Conan rescues bare breasted maidens and chops limbs off without missing a beat. The voice acting is superb - veteran character actor/voice actor Ron Pearlman voices the Cimmerian as if he were born to play the role. For the most part the game is pretty faithful to the original Ron E. Howard Conan stories except for his use of magic. Conan very much hates anything to do with magic, so for a fan of Conan such as I it's a bit odd. The soundtrack and sound effects are top-notch, and the graphics are very good when you consider that the game is three years old. Conan has been around for many years, from stories to movies, comics, and now video games. While I certainly don't agree with his politics, even President Barack Obama is a Conan fan. I really recommend that you pick up and read some of Howard's Conan stories, even if the game isn't your cup of tea. Conan is brutal, easily playable, and very enjoyable. For the $10 price tag at Gamestop it is worth every penny you pay for it and every minute you play it. If you love the God of War games you'll love Conan - it's as enjoyable, and in my opinion has a much cooler character than Kratos. He's merely a Conan clone anyway.
Attention all citizens do not get! I don't think this game would be able to satisfy the needs of people who want a long meaningful game. The graphics are awesome but it is too short. It has a similarity to God of War but it is nowhere near the same. It has a good storyline but at times it leaves those who play it in the dark. Besides from the violence there is a great deal of nonsense that goes on with the game. There are no real challenges in the game. I beat it on king mode difficulty and beat it in about 6 hours total and died 3 times. It is most easy on easy but even on the hardest difficulty I was still able to kick butt. I've had this game since Monday and I have already beaten it twice. It is too small a storyline. If you want to get this game, rent it. Don't pay the high price for it.
I feel the graphics could have been better, besides that a fun game with a god of war feel to it.
fun for a while
after playing and finishing the game i can't seem to play it again to get missed achievements. conan is good for a little while missions should keep you entertained. I really liked the combos and finishers, but there is a lack of weapon choice you can either have shield+sword, dual sword, or a big sword and its like this throughout the entire game. all in all good to pick up for the little entertainment that it offers
A Solid Game For This Genre
I've tried playing sword games before and did'nt get into them. This game grabbed me early and stayed interesting. The bad guys are not too difficult until you get a group of them. The BOSSES, of course are tougher but only a couple of them require any real thought. Lots of moves to learn and Matster. There are lots of different weapons and many weapon combinations. The best moves come when you block a hit effectively. There is magic, 4 different spells which come in handy from time to time. The graphics are good not great, not much of a sound track, but the story is good, the controls are easy and very responsive. Reload times are way too long and the pause menus are glitchy. The gameplay, however, is not glitchy. Overall I really enjoyed the game and I would recommend it to others.
This game rule's
I downloaded the demo and I must say I'm am very pleased with what I played, The graphics are awesome, especially on my 47 inch 1080p LCD I mean the art direction is amazing also worth mentioning is that Ron Perlman is the voice of Conan and from what I gathered from the demo his voice fits perfect for the role, The control's are great the combat is ferocious and very very bloody! I'm also a bit annoyed with people saying this game is a GOW rip off (You people think Krato's started the hack n slash Genre) but it's a 100% pure action hack n slash game that is just ruthless in every department, if you haven't already download the demo and you won't be disappointed and one more thing Conan's wrath is far more gruesome and entertaining then Krato's will ever be.
