Cabela's Outdoor Adventure
For Really Young Kids
This game i bought for my son, who is 12 and he hated it, so i decided to play it and i didn't like it too, and the only reason i gave it a 3 and not a 1 or if i could a 0 is because this game it perfect for 5 to 7 year olds because it tells you the basics on how to hunt, its longest game out of most of cabelas games, OK graphics, and pretty simple, but lets say you shot a buck a million yards a way, pointing the gun extremely off, or hits the leg, the buck will fall, that's why it is great for kids, because the kid wont get sad he missed.
I had high hopes for this one right up until the moment I raised the rifle to shoot. This game has some crazy "lock on" feature that ruins the whole game for me. The graphics are decent for a hunting game, it sounds like you're walking on crunchy cereal the whole time, and the guide is way too annoying and there's basically no free roaming. And the fishing.....pulling a hook out of my foot is more fun than that. But I could honestly handle it if they didn't make you use the lock on feature, as you can't take an animal without it except for birds using the shotgun. Why can't they make a decent hunting game? Time to dig out the original Dangerous Hunts for xbox, the only one close to getting it right :(
I really like this game at first i wasnt to sure because i usally do not like hunting games but this one totally changed my opinion this game is awesome and i really like the trophy chase
A Truthful Review of a Great Game
I recently purchased this game, and was a little worried if it was worth it. I have been a fan of the Cabela's games for a long time. Lets start with the camera angle, which I think is excellent. It appears just like you would imagine if you were right there. The controls in this game are great. It's the feeling that everything feels correct. The controls are similar to any of the Cabela's outdoor adventures. The interface and HUD are very good. Everything is clear, and performing tasks such as using lures is sometimes challenging, but good. Next, is statistics. I'm not sure how statistics is used in a hunting game; but the stats of the guns and the point system on the animals appears to be accurate. This game can be challenging to even people who play this kind of game often. On hard, they eliminate certain things from your HUD to make it more challenging. For people who play this game on the easy mode, it still shows a good amount of challenge. The graphics in this game are great. The environment in this game really reflects what it is like to actually be there. I even looked up all of the guns in the game before writing this review, and all the way down to the triggers themselves is 100% accurate. The sound effects in this game are also excellent. You can hear the sticks and leaves in this game sound just like they do in real life. The sounds of the guns firing is also great, and they really reflect the hunting experience. This game has astounding variety. There are so many choices of gun/fishing rods to last you for a while. Also, the animals are very varied. There are many species of small, medium, and large game, along with birds and fish. The fishing in this game is more like a mini game, then a large part of the game itself. Every so often, you will be asked to go out and catch a fish the weighs a certain amount, which can get tedious and repetitive. Overall though, I think this is a great game and everyone who is a hunting sim fan, or just a Cabela's fan should go out and get this game. Thanks.
