Product Details:

Brütal Legend marries visceral action combat with open-world freedom, set in a universe somewhere between Lord of the Rings and Spinal Tap. It's a fresh take on the action/driving genre, which is full of imitation cover bands. The vivid and wildly creative world of Brütal Legend is brought to life through a spate of chrome, leather, rocker babes, epic music, fire-breathing/stud-wearing beasts, mountains made of guitar amps, and more. Follow Eddie as he embarks on a tour of epic destruction with an axe, a guitar, and his minions as he commands the power of rock in epic band battles. It's lighter-flicking awesomeness that will melt your face clean off.

  • Action combat! Brütal Legend's core gameplay is classic action slasher, but with a twist: ranged combat comes from your demon-slaying, electricity-creating guitar. Add that 1-2 punch to a guitar solo mechanic that can summon objects, buff your teammates, or cripple your opponents, and you have a deep, gratifying core gameplay combat loop that is fun for the hardcore and accessible for the casual.
  • Streaming open world! Brütal Legend gives you the freedom to walk, drive, or fly anywhere in a fullystreaming open world whose art style is inspired by some of the most iconic and hilariously rad metal album covers ever created. Every vista in the beautiful universe of Brütal Legend looks like it was pulled from a Frank Frazetta painting.
  • Heavy metal will never die! Brütal Legend is full of cameos from Gods of Metal like Lemmy Kilmister, Rob Halford, Lita Ford, and many, many others. It has a MASSIVE metal soundtrack from every era of metal music: 1970's classic metal to 1980's hair metal to the scarier cousins of 1990's metal. And of course, Jack Black pays the ultimate homage to metal as Eddie the Roadie, continuing the theme from the work of his band, Tenacious D and his previous films like School of Rock and High Fidelity.
  • Kill em All! 4v4 "skirmish" multiplayer marries action combat with a strategic unit-control mechanic. As the leader of one of the factions in the game, the player will direct his armies in a Battle of the Bands where the trophy is survival. Brütal Legend's multiplayer is online-enabled, so you can conquer your friends online via Xbox Live or Playstation Network*.

Game Informer Rating:

Rated 8.0 out of 10 by Game Informer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Metal Experience Okay, one major thing for this game: if you don't like metal, do not get Brutal Legend. It's the only kind of music in the game. If you do like metal, then be prepared for a treat. This game is the pinnacle of gimmicked hack-and-slash open-world games, and my gosh is that a statement! Brutal Legend has everything: big threatening monsters, interesting lore, a beautiful world, Tim Schafer comedy, Jack Black comedy, and metal! The combat works, although you can die easily if you're not careful, but really that's not a bad thing. You get a fair amount of combos in the game, although it is possible to win by button mashing, but in a hack-and-slash that's not abnormal. You get a car, which is upgradable, but more importantly it spews sweet Metal tunes. The story is acceptable, with one or two good twists and turns (but one bad cliché that I'll leave for you to find), but nothing spectacular or new. The one place where the game dips is in the latter three quarters of the game where all of a sudden every story-based mission takes the form of an RTS segment. And don't get me wrong, it's not bad because it's broken or horribly out of place (okay, it's a little out of place), but it can just be pretty boring when you really get the hang of it. I really didn't feel very challenged until the last RTS, but that's because they throw a bunch of new random enemies at you. Thankfully the Metal playing all throughout the RTS segments keep me from getting too bored: while the enemy is dying, I'm normally head-banging with my troops. But no matter what, this game is a lot of fun, and it owes a lot of that fun to the actual soundtrack (a big save in a lot of the game), and if you like Metal you should most certainly get Brutal Legend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great game for metalheads Beat this game 2 times on each difficulty and i never got bored of it. It is fun and humorous and the soundtrack rocks! Only thing i dont like about this game is that you cant jump, yet you can carry giant things? Whats up with that? It makes it a little bit harder when walking around but you still get where you wanna go. The size of the playfield is ginormous. Similar to GTA4. There is never a dull moment with this game, i recommend it to all my friends. GET THIS GAME IF YOUR A METALHEAD!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ...Metal An amazing game in all aspects. even a friend of mine who didnt like metal and always thought jack black was stupid now worships both of them. definitely hits my top 5 favorite games of all time, and after buying it on release date in 2009, i still play it to this day. i wouldn't be able to explain my frustration when i learned that a sequel was planned and started but thrown out the window. for anyone who has played it there is a petition going to get a sequel made. just look up make brutal legend 2 on youtube for info on where to sign. its an incredible game with greatt kameos from lemmy, ozzy, and more. its soundtrack is untouchable by any game or movie, the game play is intense and rewarding, and the story is epic and deep. go pick it up if you haven't already.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the best metal game on earth This game is amazing I love heavy metal and now I can play a game with my favorite music which is awesome. I use to wish i had a sword or something and slay demons listening to heavy metal now i can. The voice acting in this game is amazing no one was better for the job than jack black. And luckily if one of your kids wanted to play it but you are aware of jack blacks swearing there is a setting in the options menu to take out all vulgar language. you can also disable gore so this game i would say is actually okay for any child that likes heavy metal.
