BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend
steep learning curve doesn't hold from greatness
I've never played any of the blazblue games before but have heard many good things about the series and after finally playing this game it has earned its reputation. Blazblue continuum shift extend is a 2D fighting game that is an update to continuum shift this is the first one ive played in the series so I'm not sure what new features were added in this entry but this game is definitely filled with plenty of modes and extra content for fans and newcomers alike. The story is usually the weakest part of most fighting games but here it is actually the exception the game has a full story mode that is built as one complete story and you play each character in different parts of it which makes much more engaging to the see the events unfolding from the perspective of each character instead of seeing what it looks like if a certain character won. The characters are another enjoyable facet of the game they don't feel like cookie cutter fighting game characters they feel fresh and varied with varying personalies and you'll quickly find a favorite in the entire roster my personal favorite were hazama and taokaka. The visuals are great the characters, environments, story panels and cutscenes are all done in an anime style and it is done in such an amazing way that it couldve have been an anime at one point. the sound is also well done with the soundtrack having a nice mix of heavy metal and orchestral as well as the voice actors who do a very good job in brining these characters to life. Now for the gameplay which has got to be one of the best I've seen in a fighting game in a long time its a fighting game so the the objective is simple but its the characters are what make it so amazing as each of them fight so different from one another one fighter is all about close range fighting while another relies more on a keep away strategy there is a character that fits with anyone's play-style but it comes with a steep learning curve trying to figure which one suit you fortunately there is a training mode and mission mode that lets you learn each characters move set and strategy. In terms of modes and extras this game delivers with its story mode there is also the stanard arcade mode, thesuper hard unlimited mars mode, an interesting take on survival mode giving it a light rpg vibe, a mission mode that will you learn how to use each of the characters and a gallery were you can unlock additional color palletes for the characters, art concepts, promotional art, and even fan made art despite the learning curve it is definitely a game that no one miss out on with engaging story memorable characters great art style and fantastic gameplay its a must buy
This game is AMAZING!
As soon as I found out about this game I thought it was going to be a good fighting game and it is and I love this game its one of the best fighting games I've ever played. :D
A very difficult, but worthwhile game.
I'd often been recommended BlazBlue by friends but never tried it before this game. After playing it, I understand the hype. This game has a lot of depth... making it difficult to learn how to play well, but when you finally nail a difficult combo it's the best feeling in the world. XD Of course, if you're more of a casual gamer and would rather just enjoy the game and the (fantastic, sprawling) story, there is setting called "Stylish Mode" that basically allows you to execute combos at the press of one button. Not my thing, but if you're not into dedicating the time and energy to learning the combos... There you go. Overall, great game.

I recommend this game to many people. If you have CS, wait until the price goes down to buy it for what it adds. if you have CS2, buy it because the multiplayer and other modes make it more fun since CS2 is all portable and if you dont own a BB game then I would buy this at any price. Its graphics and sound are good and the gameplay is smooth and works well. It can last you a while with the multiplayer and the stories. I would give it a 10 but its not perfect. Also It could be a DLC for CS but its more for players who dont have a BB game yet.
Its A Good Game But...
Why pay another $40 Just For A New Character And A Little Added Story mode? They Could have just released it as a DLC Instead. The Game is good but only worth it for multiplayer.
I just got this game as a birthday gift two days ago. I have never played a BlazBlue game before, but have heard wonders of it, so I added this item to my list. Was I surprised! So many wonderful characters to choose from (my favorites are Rachel and Taokaka). They are all very fun to play with and have different styles of fighting so it doesn't get boring. Very uniquely styled characters, some with very funny personalities. But beware of the foul language! Not suited for kids! The background scenes are simply beautiful and the music is lovely~ The story mode is very fun, kind of like watching an anime, and then you fight! Another great mode is the Arcade Mode. You choose any character and fight 10 battles to win and you get to watch an ending cut scene. There are also a lot of other modes that can be very challenging, but very very fun. The gallery is also a great place to visit. There are beautiful images to look at, unlock, or purchase. There are also short movie clips you can view and a battle theater. I have not yet gotten the chance to use the XBOX LIVE modes, however. Well, to sum it all up, this game is amazing! It is so much fun to play and I think casual gamers can play this too, but maybe on a lighter level. I can't say everyone will like it, because we all have different tastes, but I think this is a great game for most people. I have already recommended it to a few friends. Well, that is it! Please buy the game if you are convinced by my review, and enjoy, it is very fun! ^.^
It's totally worth buying, even if you have CS2
It's adding Relius, changing everyone's playing style significantly. It's adding storylines for Makoto, Valkenheyn, Platinum, and Relius, which will reveal more storyline (obviously). It's definitely going to be worth 40$
One question, why can't this all be bundled into a dlc package! I'm not spending 40 bucks just for one new character and some new modes? This is just sad. I'm sorry. :( And uh one more thing.... where is Juebi?
