You are a cast-away in Rapture, an underwater Utopia torn apart by civil war. No encounter ever plays out the same, and no two gamers will play the game the same way.

You are the only survivor in a North Atlantic plane crash, floating in the icy water as the fuselage sinks beneath you. Your only hope is a lighthouse in the distance, inside of which sits a submersible capsule. You climb in and you begin your decent into Rapture, a city hidden beneath the sea. Originally constructed as an idealistic society for a hand picked group of scientists, elite individuals, and industrialists, the idealism is no more. Now the city is littered with corpses, wildly powerful guardians roam the corridors as little girls loot the dead, and biologically mutated citizens ambush you at every turn. Now you're trapped, caught in the middle of a genetic war that will challenge both your capacity to survive and your moral allegiance to your own humanity.

Biologically mod your body with plasmids: genetic augmentations that empower you with dozens of fantastic abilities. Send Electrobolts storming from your fingertips, unleash a swarm of hornets hatched from the veins of your arms, strategically turn enemies against one another with irritants.
Take control of your world by hacking devices and systems: reprogram enemy security bots into personal bodyguards, modify vending machines to change prices, and transform machine gun security turrets into powerless pieces of metal.
Upgrade your weapons at Fire-For-Effect stations located through Rapture. Craft variants of ammo and plasmids by picking up materials in the city to modify them at U-Invent kiosks.
Turn everything into a weapon: the environment, your body, fire and water, and even your worst enemies. BioShock's free form combat options allow gameplay scenarios to be approached with a variety of weapons, active and passive plasmids, environmental objects utilization, exploitation of political alliances, or a combination of techniques. Find your style but know when to adapt.

This game has one of the best storyline to a videogame ever. also with the ability to swap a choose powers and upgrades it has an RPG element to it also. not mentioning the atmosphere of the game. in the underwater city of rapture and game makes it feel real. i would let any of my friends borrow this game and i already have.

Let me say this, this game is simply perfect. I don't think there is any game like it at all, it came out a while ago, I don't know the year, but yeah. Adventure, FPS, and action fans would love this game. BioShock 2 was disappointing to me, actually, I still haven't beat it, but hey, maybe one day. I LOVED this game a lot, and I'm still playing it. BioShock 2's online is fun, though, hit me up on there Xbox gamertag is A Grumpy Kitty. I can't wait for BioShock Infinite, too, looking simply more than amazing.

Bioshock is an adventure/horror FPS that fits all sorts of elements into one game. It is a spiritual successor to System Shock, and a spiritual predeccesor to the upcoming sequal Bioshock Infinite. This game deserves to be highly praised for it's brilliant storytelling, and artistic concept about a failed underwater utopia that has gone wrong. Gameplay was amazing, and the controls were great. Graphics are top notch,especially with the effects on water. I had a rewarding emotional experience during my time of playing this game. It was even confirmed, that it had gotten a spot at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C. What more could I say. If you don't believe me, google it or even better, give it a chance. For me, it fits my top 5 of favorite videogames, but then again, thats my opinion. If your looking for a mulitplayer or a hardcore shooter, then this wouldn't be your kind of game, but if you want a game with a compelling story with an interesting narrative, then here it is. Be sure to check out Bioshock Infinite, after you have beaten this game.

Bioshock, to put it simply, is one of the best games I have ever had the pleasure of playing. The amazing score and the beautiful underwater backdrop with the 1960's feel to it just tops off the whole thing. In my own personal opinion, this game (released in 2007), has much better graphics than much of the games that are being released today. The stunning contrast in the darkness and the vibrance of the lighting add to the overall "temperature" of the game. The weapons are simple and the upgrades are inginuitive. The story line is ripe with morals and metaphors and life meanings. It's a great in-depth story-teller. If you listen to the true underlying meaning, you can see how the game is meant to be seen. Overall, the game is great, the controls are easy, the game is challenging and fun. It makes you think and pulls you into the story. This game should be remembered throughout the ages.

I adore this game so much. From the beautiful 50's, futuristic, underwater scenery to the fantastic choice of music to the great game play, this is probably one of the best games out there. If you are even just contemplating on getting it, seriously, it's ten bucks, get it. It is worth every penny and more so seriously, even if you are not a FSP gamer (I'm not) you will love it.
