Once we all know this is kind of based on the book we would rather read it than play the game. At first i thought this was going to be an okay idea but i was proved wrong. My first problem is the batteries. They only last probably last 2 minutes. The second problem is the black oil. First you encounter it in the sewer level. The only way you can get through it is to shine your flashlight on it.Yet again we go back to the batteries. You need to survive on these really bad batteries. So how can you get through it without dying.Well i think your supposed to point the flashlight at your feet.Anyway back to the important stuff. The voice acting is okay trust me I've heard worse. The game play is like game play to cut scene and when you start the level over it acts like a tv show. But the worst of it all is you can skip to the end of the game when you are supposed to make it to the end of each level without dying. There is also a boss battle that i cant figure out.Its bad game trust me but this review might be bad as well but Im a beginner.

This is such an awesome game because you can use your imagination to help you survive the unthinkable horrors that lie form all directions of you. You must fight to survive the fissures and the zombies thats aggression is so unbearable you almost have no chance to survive at all. There is a system where you can skip to any part of the game but do that after you beat because if you just skip to the end you'll have no idea what to do or have any idea about the storyline at all and will be lost forever in a world of confusion because there is a serious twist in the game that is pretty thrilling and will make you wonder. The action in this game is off the hook because the zombies dont just come alone they travel in packs like there migrating. There is also a bird like creature that you dont see to often in the game but when you do there is a crap load of the suckers seriously they suck your blood I think there called vampires. Well, buy this game now.
Rated 7 out of 10 by thelovehatehero worth a playthrough
Except for the occasional annoying glitch and the driving sequences. The game is pretty cool the enemies are a little annoying because you can only kill them with fire which completely defeats the purpose of having a gun but the game is at least worth a play through. The music for the game is awesome it adds an erie felling to the game. The cons of this game are driving, gun doesn't kill, and glitches which believe me there are a few. The pros of the game you get to drive pretty much anything when you're roaming central park. Not to mention the fact that you get to be a pyro, make sticky bombs, flame throwers. Blow up cars and do a bunch of other cool things. The game is fairly realistic except for when you get a car or something thrown at you by an enemy and you walk away with only a scratch. The main character sustains damage and you have to treat his wounds which is cool and all but having to do it every minute gets a little bit annoying.
Rated 10 out of 10 by zachsco Not like everybody said
Everybody said this game wasnt as good as the rumors. Like the controls are hard to get used to and that is true but that dosnt mean this game sucks because I imagine if halo had sucky controls everybody woould still be playing it. Anyway the challenge of this game is great it take a couple tries at a sequence before you can beat it. The graphics are asome the buildings in New York, and the city itself is unbelivable. The length of the game I dont know because I just got the game today and Ive played it for a 2 hours and im at the start of chapter 3. The storyline is one of the best storylines i have ever played. The controls might be hard at first but easy to get used to. The interface is easy and the inventory interface is asome. Lastly the sound and the music is weird but pretty cool. So anybody that wants to listen to the game sucks and it has really bad controls beleive that but for me one of thecoolest games ever and really gonna have a good replay value, and recommend it to anyone that has an xbox 360 or any other console.

DONT Lisen to all the noobs the game is amazing the controls are good every thing is good only seen 1 problem on the buidling the camera got messed up BUT THATS IT SO FAR, THIS GAME IS ..(AMAZING) Very nice Grapics, the controls are ok there not like RE original games, Note:alot better than RE, there more like RE4 with first person, I highly think any1 should buy this very nice game. So far the missions are good, the story makes sence, I like how you can mix weapons and the cars have decent controls, very nice game just buy it im sure all survival horror people will like this game theres alot of action and it will pull you into the game, very realistic the cars you can look trough. Very nice envirorment , one thing that got my attention is how like on RE games u need keys and stuff to open doors on alone in the dark U just can burn the door down or shoot it open, again its an awesome game I think survival horror fans should pick it up.

I've been looking forward to this game for years. I remember playing "Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare" years ago on my PS1 and it scaring me to death. That old touch just isn't to be found this time around. Graphics aren't terrible, but at the same time, they aren't very good. Sound, the music was great when you get to hear it. Most of what you're listening to, at least to where I played, is the sounds of the fire that was hyped up to be so realistic. And I really hope you like the fire in this game, because it is the only way to kill enemies. Driving segments feel worse than an NES racing game, and combat is a total mess. Controlling the your character feels like piloting a WWII era tank, and is where the only source of challenge comes in. This game is not at all frightening or tense. Rent this game before you buy, even if you're a huge "Alone in the Dark" fan. Now excuse me while I go play the PS1 AITD from 9 years ago.

Before i saw any of the reviews on this game, i played the demo. I thought it was great so naturally i went and bought it. After about 2 hours of playing, i thought that i would check to see how the rating was, because i thought more people would have liked it like i do. i was surprised to see the ratings like 3/10 and 5/10. i think that this game deserves at least a 7.5-8. Its true, there are more than a few glitches (mostly in the driving sections) and underdone gun shooting graphics (it is 100% accurate and very non-realistic), but other than that this is a great game. I would suggest this game to anyone who likes a good horror/action game, even if it has some glitches. Also, i have to put it out there, i love how you break open doors with fire extinguishers. And this game has one of the best fire graphics i have seen. If you dont like this game, its because nobody likes you and you want something to relate to at its expense.

Ok, I have now completed this game twice, hoping that I would get something better out of it the second time around. Yep, I am completely right, this game blows. I had such high hopes for this game after playing the PC version. Lets start with the story line....Sucks from the very beginning. It is somewhat strange to follow, goes off on it's own tangents, never to make any type of sense. The graphics, however, are top notch. I am lucky enough to be able to play it in High-Def and it does out-shine other newly released games. The controls are the worst I have seen in a lot of games. I often found myself stuck running around in a circle as I try to right the camera. Didnt they see this when they tested this game? What were they looking at? Other reviewers got it right, the driving controls are the worse ever, sometimes simply trying to walk was a chore. The only saving grace about this game is the free T-shirt that came with it!

Alone in the Dark seems to be a very interesting game. It holds high in the visual department, has an interesting storyline, a physics engine that is second to none, and an intricate weapons layout similar to resident evil; ability to combine items and weapons to suit your purpose. However, the gameplay seems very sequenced and not very controllable as a player; it is as though you go through a check point and something happens but you barely escape, but not because of your doing but because thats how the game is supposed play out. I am not a big fan of scripted games where the computer has control over the player, but the player has freedom to play however he/she would like. This game also has a movie feel and look to it. You actually are able to skip through some chapters of the game; the creators did this so that players don't get bogged down which I find interesting. Not totally sure bout this one yet but it'll sell.
Rated 3 out of 10 by Hoodwinx LOUSY CONTROLS
Okay, so you can do great things like make molotov cocktails, and use fire extinguishers as flame throwers... but that is after your done being mad at the controls. Like when you go to hit an opponent but instead throw the weapon away and you get pounded. Then when you do want to hit him you are spinning around with RS. It's too much. I did jump a lot in this game so if you like getting spooked it's okay. The story line is kinda cheesy. I would say this game is okay, but certainly not what it was hyped up to be. Graphics were pretty fun but sometimes it was hard to find the evil roots. I did like at the end the puzzles although they too were not real clear. Too many cutscenes! Every time you die, you have to watch the entire cutscene again. You can't just toggle through it. Have to say if they do it again, I'll be a sucker again. It was a good attempt so maybe next time it will be better.
