First this DLC is not as great in my opinion compared the shadow broker DLC, but it is equally as fun. One mistake I made with this along with almost everyone who gets this is that the first time I played it I was only halfway through the playthrough. WAIT TILL THE LAST MISSION! This will be much more satisfying if you wait to play it as the last mission since it connects ME2 and ME3. Achievements are very fun to try to get too. Good luck on Insanity by the way! HAHAHAHa

There are a few video games that can really give motion pictures and books a run for their money and Mass Effect happens to be one of them. It is easily my favorite game in this console generation and I cannot wait for Mass Effect 3 later this year. In the meantime the developer, Bioware, has provided its audience a steady stream of downloadable content since the game’s 2010 release. Arrival, however, is the last piece of gaming heaven until later this year.
The mission comes over the communication system as Admiral Hackett, a recurring character in the universe, needs a personal favor from Commander Shepard. A friend of his has been kidnapped by an alien race while she was researching a Reaper artifact behind their lines. The Reapers, for those that don’t know, are an ancient advanced machine race, which cyclically destroys all life in the universe.
Without spoiling anything, it connects the current game with that of Mass Effect 3 but if you were looking for any earth shattering revelations, you’re going to fall short. The new character and mission are rather boring. It results in easy constant combat from point to point that culminates into a final confrontation.
While it’s not bad, it’s not good. The Lair of the Shadow Broker set the downloadable content so high that I was really expecting more out of this last piece for months. There are no vehicle missions, you’re by yourself, and there is only one decision I can think of that would impact the next game.
I’m not going to lie in the fact that I would love a true expansion to the Mass Effect franchise vis-à-vis Dragon Age’s Awakening but I’ll take all of the Commander Shepard I can get. Is it worth the 7 bucks? I think so. Would it hurt to wait until it inevitably goes on sale before Mass Effect 3? Not at all. I wouldn’t even say that Arrival is required reading. It is only an hour, two max, and doesn’t really add much to the overall story. But if you’re looking for the “director’s cut” of Mass Effect you’ll have to pick it up.

This DLC ends off Mass Effect 2 with a warning, The Reapers are coming. This DLC is about 2-4 hours long (depending on skill and difficulty) and is great for storyline and combat, ecsepacialy because you fight by yourself in this mission. This DLC is worth buying if your a fan of Mass Effect 2 and it bridges the gap between the ending of Mass Effect 2 and the beginning of Mass Effect 3

The Arrival DLC is a great way to tie off Mass Effect 2 that leads into the final ME3 story. This DLC offers new challenges and hours of game time plus 3 more achievments. However, the game offers something that you rarely get to do in the game...fighting solo. This game is a great buy and any Mass Effect fan will enjoy this add-on
