Xbox 360 Media Remote
Go for it.
Got this remote at a yard sale. I haven't used it that much yet, but I have some impressions based on when I have used it. What are my thoughts on this remote? It's a solid remote, if you ask me. It can allow for navigating the dashboard or entertainment apps (Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Instant Video, etc.) with one hand, and I also think it's great for people that are unfamiliar with using a normal controller, as most people probably have some experience with a TV remote in their lives before. There's also a Windows Media Center button, so you can instantly display that, if you have that set up. (I don't, yet). I also assume that you can sync the remote to your TV, as there are buttons for volume, channel, and input, but I haven't gotten it connected yet. (I'll find a way). I do have one problem with this remote though, and that's, if there is ANYTHING blocking the line of sight between the remote and your console, it won't read the signal (AKA not register your command). Other than that, I feel that this is a pretty good remote.
This is designed to be a DVD player remote, for use with the XBOX 360. It works well but, it has to point directly at the system power button, in order to work at all. Also the A, B, X, and Y buttons don't work on this remote but, it WAS used...

this remote is awesome works great and make a big difference while watching tv. it's annoying to be using your controller while watching a move.
I just bought this remote yesterday and it worked instantly. I put the AA batteries in and right away it worked. Now i can sit back, relax and watch Netflix and movies without having to worry about reconnecting my controller. It doesn't need to be connected or anything. The down side is that it does have to be pointed directly at the console, but if you have your system right smacked in front of you, whats there to complain about. I love it!!
Its a good remote and i really enjoy the design. The only problem with the remote is that you always have to have it pointed directly at the console for it to work.
