Xbox 360 Controller Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Much better than expected
Good solid wired controller that doesn't require a battery pack for it to work. Good design, good feel, and guess what? It actually works! If I happend to find any fault with it I will just simply return it, but as it stands I am happy with the purchase. The combat buttons are simple to use, the triggers are tight, the ABXY buttons have the same sensitivity as the MS controllers. The precision aim feature is cool but it takes alot of practice to get used to it. The rubberized grips are a huge plus, and it is much lighter which is a given being that you don't have a big, bulky battery pack attached to the back of it. If you want a cheap replacement controller or just a second one this isn't a bad choice in MY OPINION. Oh, did I mention that the analog sticks light up? pretty cool.
NOT SO GREAT NOW
I have two of these controllers and they both have the same problem. The wire has a short or something wrong with the wire to controller connection. I will be playing and the reconnect your controller message keeps popping up. My 11 yr son has stop using it, but I like the grips on the side so I continue to use it. I emailed Madcatz on the thrid of June and told them what was happening and if they had a fix, but no respose. Overall if you can live with the wire problem get one. I wish they work correctly I really like the look and feel of the controller. As for the bottom buttons never have used them.
Good for sniping
This controller has it's up's and down's. First I will say it isn't too comfortable. The buttons on the back start to hurt your fingers they should have put rubber on them or made them bigger. After a while your fingers will be sore. The best part about this controller is it will improve your sniping alot. The back buttons can be set to replace the right stick button and left stick button. When sniping you no longer have to hold in the left stick button to hold your breath...the back extra button can be used for that...and a tip i found quite useful is hold the back left button in before you raise your sniper and you will have a nice easy quick snipe. So far my sniping has improved greatly because sometimes when I hold my breath with the left stick i would move a bit. The controller is very well built all the buttons are tight and click good, and it looks awesome! As far as having a cord I myself like not having to worry about batteries, and the cord cord is long. I would recommend this controller to any fan of call of duty.
Great for offline....
Okay as soon as I got it it looked sweet. It worked fine and everything. Then I started seeing issues. The back buttons were getting in the way and they dont really help at all. It felt nice and all and even had cool thumbsticks. But it still was pretty bad. First of all I used Kontrol Freaks which are very popular and are extensions for the thumbsticks. The mw2 controllers thumbsticks are abnormally big and cause trouble getting them on. Also they are terrible for online play. What i mean by this is that for Turtle Beaches the mic sounds horrible. Whenever you shoot with the cheap ** dollar turtle beaches it makes a farting noise. Even when i jump or something it makes a slight fart noise. It is annoying to you and your friends will notice. I DO NOT RECCOMEND GETTING THIS. Instead take your ** dollars, buy a wireless black controller, and Fallout 3 or Cod 5 only ** bucks. For a proffesionally or serious gamer this is nice to add to the colection but not fun to use in an actual game.
I have been firm on always buying first party accessories for my consoles.I know I have to pay a little more but in my experience you get what you pay for. I am a big time fps player and have always wanted a customizable hot mapping on a console controller. This takes a good step with the combat buttons. I was very surprised how responsive and accurate the analog sticks and triggers were and the buttons while flat instead of rounded are almost undetectably different than the first party controller. Mad Catz has come a long way I hope that this is sign of things to come from them. I would have like a more ergonomic placement for the combat buttons but over all it is one of the most comfortable controllers I have ever used. The digital camo is a real nice touch as is the rubberized gun grip styling on the handles. The lights from under the analog sticks are a nice touch but could use a off switch as they are very bright and can be distracting in a dark room. This is a must buy for anyone looking for a good alternative to a first party device.
Combat buttons kinda useless but otherwise great.
I have had my controller for a little over a week and I must say I'm impressed. I initially had no intentions of getting this controller in the first place, I had asked my girlfriend to pick me up a wired controller (since wired controllers are optimal for first-person shooters.) She had gotten to Gamestop and saw that and figured since I play COD, Halo etc, she decided that she would get that. When I first saw it I was hesitant because I have not had good luck at all with any madcatz products in the past, but this controller has done nothing but good things for me so far. I'm not too sure about the Combat Button placement, its kinda out of the way and can sometimes make you make simple errors in a clutch situation. But the quick triggers and precision aim is a most definite plus for certain game-types and weapon classes. It works great with Halo REACH: and with COD, along with most other first person shooters. and IT DOES work with a Turtle Beach Headset, I have one and I use it with this controller everyday so don't believe that slander against it. All in all its a solid buy.
Good but could be better....
Overall I think the idea of this controller is there.. just lacks some in the design. Like some of the other reviews, the combat buttons are small and in an awkward spot. However, after playing with this controller for awhile I seemed to get used to it. I think, with some time put in on it, you can get used to it and maybe even fall in love with this controller. The triggers are a nice change from the standard controller. Also, the RB and LB buttons are larger than normal, but I have no trouble "cooking" a grenade with them. The thumbsticks are a bit slick but not terrible like some reviews are making it out to be. The grips on the side are very nice and comfortable. This controller is wired... which coming from using wireless kind of sucks but you won't have to search for batteries all the time. The glow of the thumbsticks gives it a cool visual effect. So all in all, I am glad with my purchase and I would give this a shot if you are looking for something new.
Great controller for all games, not just black ops
This controller is great. I will admit it took me a few days to get used to it's feel but now I'll never go back to using a regular controller. The extra springy triggers allow for faster Semi-automatic shooting. Anyone who says this controller is "Cheap" or "Poorly made" is sadly mistaken, it's a great, solid controller and I look forward to using it for a very long time. The ONE and ONLY downside to this controller is the D-pad. Sometimes it will press Up, or down when you meant to press Left or right. I would recommend this to any xbox player, It's great for all games, not just black ops.
A Must Have For Any Hardcore MW2 Gamer
Many people have been giving this controller a bad rap but i strongly disagree. Yes it has a few downfalls but over all its a great controller for any gamer. For starters the two extra buttons on the back of the controller are great for quick on the fly reactions. The buttons can be set to be used in plac of the x, y, a, b, right stick, and left stick. These come in handy espically if you set it buttons for knife or reload. (Since you are already near the back buttons because you will be shooting with the right trigger.) Also the skin o the controller is made to feel like a gun which is very cool. Another big plus the design of the gun is extreamly incredible. The controller comes in either black or white camoflague and when the controller gets turned on the lights under the analog sticks glow in the modern warfare green. Finally the gn is very responsive. I even think that the response time is quicker with this wired controller then a typical wireless controller. However there a few downfalls. First of all its a wired controller so if you are used to playing wireless its going to be a HUGE change for you. Also when you are using either the left or right trigger your fingers will ocassionally get a small pinch within the buttons. Overall I think the controller is a must have for any hardcore MW2 gamer or collector despite its few flaws.
It's great for solo, but multiplayer...
It's perfect for slol campaign. And even online when your by youself, but not so much for multiplayer with friends. Whenever you shoot and have your mike plugged into it, it makes this, sorry if this is immature but, farting noise.Of corse I have a Turtle Beach X1. And that is consideribly old now saying that they have a X31 now. Now before you go saying " Well if you hated it that much why giveit good ratings?" it's because IO mostly only played singleplayer or online by myself. Also, because it's a great addtion to the Modern Warfare fans. It's capable of playing with other Call of Duty's, even though it has the same proble. It can also be played with any game, though still makes that noise for some reason. And I like how it plays, feels, and looks. The anolog sticks light up a nice Modern Wrafare green, and the material it's made of has a nice feeling to it. But that's just me. ANd if you have smaller hands then you might have a bit of trouble useing the combat buttons on the back of the controller. And I actully got a blister useing the combat button! Since I used that instead of clicking down on the left anolog to sprint.
