Know what you are talking about before you speak.
People who are going to comment on something should know what they are talking about before doing so. Almost none of the posts on here have any correct information in them and it's really annoying. Everyone who says this is a USB cable is wrong. This is a cable ONLY for the proprietary Kinect Port on the back of the new Xbox 360 Slim OR the extra attachment to allow you to use the Kinect with your original Xbox 360. This will work with both systems fine. If you are using a newer 360 this will run an extra 15 feet from the Kinect to your console. If you are using the original Xbox 360 this adds 15 feet from the Kinect to the adapter which then runs into your system and an extra power outlet. This is also NOT made by Microsoft but is approved by them. Which means it has been tested to not damage your hardware. PDP is a company that manufactures most of the GameStop branded hardware you see at their stores.

KWOOD IS WRONG.. False Info
it is not a USB.. the Kinect has a specific plug that only fits into the designated port on the back of the New XBOX(orange to orange like a PC).. This is an extension cable for the Kinect to the New XBOX ONLY,, thats all... there is a defferent cable for the old 360.. the cable for the old 360 converts the Kinect plug to a USB,, that connector has a power plug attached and it is in the box when u purchase the Kinect by itself.. This extension cable advertised is perfect for anyone that has a TV far away from their console(like a projector or movie room).. i do believe it is over priced,, it should be around $20.. but when u think about it, if u have a Kinect ur not purchasing any controllers, battery packs or charging kits.. if u get the PS3 Move ur looking at $80-$90 just to get a controller and a navigation stick,, that goes for the Wii also,, let alone getting more accessories for another person to play.. although $50 is a hefty price and should be lowered,, its a small price to pay for the Kinect experience..

Really Misunderstood
This is a cord that takes the port that connects the Kinect to the NEW Xbox 360 and makes it into a USB that can connect to the old Xbox 360. And if you would have read the description of the item you would have seen that it is officially licensed by Microsoft. So if anyone was questioning this product i think it is over priced, but it is really useful for the people who want the Kinect but do not own the NEW Xbox 360.

Read before you write...
This is NOT a Microsoft product. It is being issued by a third party, PDS. From the looks of it, it is simply a USB extension cable that has been conformed to the styling of the Kinect device. Overpriced? Probably. A plot by the Evil Overlords at Microsoft? Definitely not.

BULL!!!!
I think that is a little over priced so I would rather just buy a new xbox.

What Does This Even Do?!
I have to guess that it extends the Kinect wire so that it can more easily connect to your power outlet (Kinect will connect to a power outlet, unless you own the new xbox 360.) I beleive that is quite helpful, but a bit overpriced.

Nice...
This is just sad. Proprietary cable connectors so they can gauge us on price. Almost surprising this is the same company that just released a much nicer console without a price increase. Maybe one day Microsoft will learn what they lose in nickle and diming your customer base you make up in loyalty and willingness to spend more on because you know they are looking out for you... Or more probable, they won't.
