XP400 comprehensive review
I've had the head set for a couple of weeks now and I have mixed feelings, though overall a positive reaction. I was upgrading from a Turtle Beach X1, which was wired. One of the reasons I decided to get the XP400 instead of the X41 or X42 was because many people complained that the X41 and X42 had interference if they were near a wireless router. I live in a one bedroom apartment and my turtle beach would be within 2 feet of my router so that would be a big problem. I am happy to report that the XP400 has had no problems being next to my router so the claim that it has no interference is true. Instead of providing your own batteries, this head set has internal rechargeable batteries. I actually like it because you can recharge while playing. The charging cord is as long as the wired headset cords and one cool thing about the charger is that it is a USB cable, so you can charge it in any USB port. I have been charging it from my computer USB port and sometimes from my XBOX's USB port. Not to mention you can use this headset for both PS3 and XBOX 360, which I have both so its a great thing to have. One feature that I really like that I didn't think I would use is the Bluetooth feature that can connect to a phone. I don't have the greatest phone reception in my apartment so using my turtle beach to talk on the phone has completely fixed that, not to mention that I can now talk hands free! You can also talk while playing, which I've only done once but its nice. One thing it doesn't do is sync music from your phone, which other headsets do so if thats a big deal you should look at other turtle beach headsets. Also, because chat uses bluetooth, you can not talk on the phone and game chat at the same time. Once the phone call is over, it goes right back to game chat though. Some people have complained about problems pairing the head set to the turtle beach, an easy way around that is to take the charging cable and plug the headset into the XBOX and then press the pairing button, and just like that they are synced. For the bluetooth chat just make sure you press the bluetooth button on the headset and the chat button on the controller piece at the SAME time and it will automatically sync. It doesn't really explain that, but it is really easy to set up if you know you need to press the buttons at the same time. It took me about 10-15min to set everything up. The sound in the headsets are great! They have a blast limiter setting which muffles the sounds of gunfire and explosions so you can hear footsteps and small noises better. I have already seen an increase in my scores for shooting games. Another great thing is the surround sound, which allows you to hear the direction of noises. The cheaper model XP 300 is only stereo sound, which is the main difference between the XP300 and XP400 and that is a huge difference to me.The biggest con is comfort. My X1 headset was really comfortable so I thought this one would be comfortable too, it's not. The problem is that the ear pieces press against your head to try and make a good seal, but the pressure ends up hurting after awhile. Another thing is that its a bit big for my head. I'm a 115 pound girl so my head is pretty small, so if you feel like you have a small head the head set will probably be a bit big for you, still works, just a bit bulky. Overall Pros- great sound, great bluetooth feature, works near wifi, PS3 and XBOX compatible, wireless gaming, surround sound, charges while playing, and long charge cable. Cons- not very comfortable, a bit too big for my head, doesn't sync music through bluetooth, if you do not have an XBOX slim you need to buy a headset adapter cable (if you were using HDMI for your headset before, you would have already bought this), and if the internal battery dies you can't replace them. I personally like the headset and am happy with the purchase, I just wish it was more comfortable considering how much I paid for it.

Amazing with minor flaws
This is an amazing headset for any gamer. Like other people, I do believe that they are a bit over priced, but they still are very high quality. It is an extremely comfortable headset with great sound quality. Other than the price, I only have one other minor problem with them. When playing COD Black Ops, regardless if you have the Sound Limiter on, gun fire seems like its far in the distance, even from the gun that I am using. Like I said very minor for me considering the quality of the headset. My suggestion if you're interested in this headset is to trade in what you are willing to part with in order to decrease the price.

Beautiful.
You can consider this an unofficial companion piece to Trishoiishii's review since she said pretty much all that needs to be said, but I am not, in-fact a 115 female and can say they are pretty comfortable. Oh and make sure you insert the optics cable into the right port on the back of the transmitter like I didnt the first time. And if you have a TV monitor like I do and have the sound from the pc going into your TV you can plug the optical cable into the back of your TV as long as its supported and get sound from anything you have plugged into it.

Very Nice
I have the x41 Turtle beach 7.1 surround sound, which does sound better then this set, but while in game chat the x41 will echo real bad and you can not turn up the sound while chatting without the feedback. The chat cord will also go out about once a year or sooner. This set has no echo while in chat and no cord to worry about. The rechargeable batteries could be a plus, not sure if they will get to a point where they will not hold a charge later down the road. I love the no cord, but it does have the option for chat cord if you choose to use one.You can also charge this set while playing, it comes with a 2 ft recharge cord. IMO x41 is better for sound, or for someone who does not play online, but this set is not to far behind on sound, this set is much better for playing and talking to others and still be able to have the sound to your liking without the echo. Over all this set is much better for online play.

Love them
They are very comfortable. They sound great. I can hear exactly where they are coming from. Sound is very clear. Don't hear any crackling or poppin on the game sound. I wish they would have came with the cable that goes from the remote to the headset. They only give you a bluetooth. Which is fine I like it but that would be the only complaint I would have about these. I think this headset is well worth the money. They are 5.1 but I have had 7.1 surround headsets and these sound just as good if not better. I would recommend these to anyone. I was afraid at first because I read some reviews and people were saying they sound better than the XP500's and I don't know that myself but these would be hard to beat. That is my opinion but I am sure there will be people that disagree. Even turtle beach says these are the better of headsets they offer right now. Can't go wrong with turtle beach.

Love it
It is a great product, Great sound and is comfy. The top of the head band does make my head hurt after about 4 to 5 hours of game play. But the sound is very nice and you can hear the foot steps on MW3 or other MMO's. You can take phone calls while you play and still hear the game sound. Just like the person is sitting next to you while you play. You cant play music unless you connect your phone or ipod to the back of the transmitter use'n a 3.5mm cable. You get 6 different surround sound modes. You get 4 EQ modes and 4 different blast limiter presets. For the best sound to hear foot steps use treble boost and max limiter with one of the 6 surround sound modes. I had the xp500 and this one is alot better. Plus with the re-charge battery you do save alot of cash. I get about 15 to 20 of game play and you can charge and play at the same time. The only thing I dont like is the top cushion of the head band. After a while make the top of my head hurt. Plus my wife loves them she can sleep now at night while I play and not keep her awake.

Better than expected
I've tried a lot of headsets. Astro A40's, Tritton AX720, Turtlebeach X41, HPX, X1, X32, X4, X11. I couldn't wait to get my hands on the XP400's because they would have no interference!!! The A40's didn't have interference, but you still had to use cords to the mixamp which was annoying. You can read about all the features of the XP400 and they all deliver, but I was most suprised by a couple other things. **First I have a bluetooth stereo in my car and an iPhone 4S, I thought I would have to pick between car and headset, but suprisingly the iPhone lets me be paired with both, so I don't have to constantly fiddle with the settings!!! **Second the wireless dongle to the controller picks up my voice pretty well, not as good as a cable. But people I played with said I sounded about the same as with my X41 headset. **Third XP400's have much more noise cancellation than the X41's. ***Fourth when you take a call, it doesn't cut out the game sound like I thought it would, you can hear both at the same time, so its easy to keep playing. ------The only draw back I noticed was that you cant stream music from your iPhone to the headset through bluetooth. GREAT Headset though!!!!
