Halo 4 Warhead 7.1 Wireless Surround Headset GameStop Exclusive
Would expect more comfort
PROS: Sleek design, Halo 4 esthetics, detachable mic, sound quality is great, hot swapable batteries, blocks out alot of sound w/o even being on, free avatar prop, base stand looks pretty sweet, fully wireless, look great CONS: Un-freaking-comfortable, halo decals are painted off and will scratch off very easily by finger nail, base station will be a dust magnet, not available for instore pick up until NOV 8th but you can buy them now on the site? just thought that was kinda funny.............. This headset has amazing sound quality compared to me really old earforce x11 ive had for years, it comes with everything needed to set it up and go, and my wife thinks it looks pretty badass. Only two flaws i can think of after only 3 matches on reach, 1. there was a bit of over flow glue on the headset that i wanted to scratch off with my finger and some of the paint came off, and 2. THIS is a big one for me because other headsets offer the same sound quality, COMFORT the pad for your dome is a soft plastic with what seems like air is in it, sounds comfee, feels comfee to the hands, but after a few matches it starts to get sore. and ive already started to reconsider this headset just because whats the point of having an extremely nice headset if you cant wear it.
These are not 7.1 surround headphones!
BUYER BEWARE! These are marketed as 7.1 surround headphones, and are priced as such, unfortunately they are just regular stereo headphones with a decent DSP that simulates surround through stereo headphones. If you remove one of the changeable ear pads you will see that there is only 1 speaker per ear. As stereo headphones they are a fair consumer grade wireless headphone. Wireless coverage area is much less than the 33 feet claimed on the box (more like 15 feet). Sound quality is OK, but sometimes feels a little over processed. Now some of the good things about these headphones, Two batteries really are nice to have one to charge, one for use, great call! The headphone covers are very comfortable for consumer grade headphones, unless you have really big ears they will stay off of the headphones. They breathe decently and your ears won't sweat much. Another nice thing is the integrated XBOX Live voice chat, works great! If these headphones were half the price and not marketed as surround they might be a fair deal.
This is going to be the best headset for any Halo fan to buy! The specs are amazing, and if you are an Xbox fan then these are even better because of the Microsoft security chip which allows you to sync them right to your system! If you have the slimline 360 then you will just attach the optical cable to your Xbox and the wireless base, plug the base into an outlet, sync your headset to the console and you are good to go. If your Xbox is the older one, no problem, it comes with an adapter. I am one of the biggest Halo fans you could meet, I am getting both headsets, the console, and the limited edition of the game! The standard Warhead 7.1 is getting great reviews, and these run the exact same price, so no paying extra for the sexy paint job, these will be well worth the price! I just hope they don't push the date back, I've been dying for these
Best headset I have ever used-
Ok, so other then the fact, yes they look awesome and match the Halo 4 console to a " T ". These also have a ton of features to boot as well.
The EQ settings are nice and the Dolby EX and ProLogic support makes everything clear, and realistic, actually more so then any other headset I have used. Your guns, vehicles and the enviroments sound clearer and more crisp and clear with awesome bass. I noticed this right away while playing BF3 and Doom 3.
As far as comfort? Left them on my head for 4 hours and had ZERO complaints about how they felt. Come to think about it I did not notice they were there after 10 minutes! They create a great seal around your ears creating a noise free environment to focus on without blasting the volume. Basically, you hear more with less if that makes sense?
The battery packs, what an awesome deal. Two batteries and a built in charging dock. By the way, did not charge the batteries prior to use.
Even with one pack nearly dead I had no issues playing for hours. Meaning, this headset is very power efficient, a huge plus!
Also, the fact that they are Xbox 360 exclusives makes them fit the system perfectly as they are built around the workings of the Xbox platform, more care into making them more user frindly and hardware compatible.
I can not put into words how nice ( and collectible ) these really are. If you are a Halo buff then you need these, especially if you have the console on pre-order ;).
This is going to be a great headset!! I have heard great reviews from people who own the original Tritton Warheads, and the only difference between those and these is the design. Halo 4 style. I suggest this item to anyone who is willing to shell out some extra money. I especially recommend this to Halo fans, especially to those who have pre ordered the Halo 4 limited edition Xbox 360. I've heard great things about this headset, and I have already paid it off along with my Halo 4 xbox, and limited edition version of the game.
I have already pre-ordered the limited edition console and now this headset. I had the tritton warhead 7.1 but i returned it for this headset because it was halo branded. This headset is exactly the same as the tritton 7.1 but is halo branded and i have to say that this headset is amazing, the sound is sound clear and the comfort is truly the best. I have had the turtle beach xp400 and astro a40 and they do not compare. but these are really soft and padded. the astro are nice and soft but they are cloth so it can get kinda warm. I also love that they put blue LEDs so it would match the console and controllers
Hopefully, GS updates the original image. I was already in the market for a nice pair of headphones. I'm currently using Tritton AX 720 Headphones. Those are "wired" headphones that offer 7.1 surround sound as well, but at a fraction of the price that the warheads are listed as. The difference however, is that the warheads are completely wireless. I mean, no wires at all. I can't tell you how much I hate using a chat cable. Wires get in the way in hardcore gaming sessions, and with the warheads, that won't be an issue for me anymore. After I saw the Halo 4 Edition of the Warheads, I had to have them. The design is just freaking awesome! I love the halo universe, but even without loving the game, the design is just too beautiful to not admire. Xbox sync is going to revolutionize future wireless headsets.
The best headset I've used.
Found these in my Gamestop the day AFTER Halo 4 came out. I got them because I've never owned anything other than the Xbox Wireless Mic. Anyways, this headset is FANTASTIC! It makes me feel like I'm thrown right into the game. I can now tell which direction the shots are actually coming from, so now I don't have to spin around searching drastically for my enemy. The design fits perfectly over my ears and is really comfortable to wear. The only complaint I have is the rubber under the head band, some times it catches on my hair and removing it when it does is painful. In comparison to other quality headsets I've used, this blows Turtle beach out of the water. It's truly wireless interface is amazing how it syncs right to the console! The EQ settings that are made for games, movies, or music is amazing as well. 10/10 On my scale of headsets. Would buy Triton's again.
wow this headset looks amazing, and the features are so cool, but wow what a price. I dont no, I have the console pre ordered and the collectors edition of the game. $300, seems so steep, i dont think i am going to get this. Maybe if it was 200, but 300? thats nearly the same price as the halo 4 console.
As a 17 year old hardcore gamer, i find it a little bit pricey, but you get your money's worth, and then some. These have perfect audio output and the mic is sensitive enough that it doesn't have to be down your throat, while also not picking up every sound in the room. (That has happened with the last three headsets that I have bought) The feature for charging the battery is VERY useful when needing the mic or when in a chat party without stitching to a backup. This was my first time ever having a wireless mic so it took a while to figure out how to sync with my controller and Xbox. Although it can be a little bit annoying, the auto off feature does save battery life so it isn't completely bothersome. I recommend this to anybody who is a true Halo fan in search of a new mic and doesn't mind spending some money for the best.
