Rated 1 out of 10 by NrGHerculean This Mic Aint Butta
this mic is so freakin bad! once i turned it on and started talking in a group i thought it was off/mute. but oh i was wrong, it was clearly on. obviously, i didn't know i had to yell to my neighbors house for the people on the mic to hear me. the design i have to say is sick! like it looks cool. how everything works it cool. but me yelling to my friends and they say im like whispering in the mic thats just turrible. i bought this mic about 20 minutes ago. and i plan on returning it in about 30 minutes. just because the drive is about 20 minutes itself. this mic is not worth the trouble. save your self the money, drive, and the effort for this boo boo mic. all my friends say "good stuff butta" if something is good...... this mic aint butta!
Rated 1 out of 10 by Sanctous Buy a regular mic
This mic was terrible. I had a regular headset for close to a year and it eventually just decided to stop working. I then went to a nearby store and found these for $17 and thought it was quite nice and it looked like a decent headset. I took it home and when i plugged them in, i found that i had to speak quite loudly in order for someone to hear me like i was listening. Its been less than two weeks and suddenly they just started crackling and i couldnt hear any of the people in my party. I had been told that they break easily but i didnt realize that this is what they mean. My recommendation, spend a few more bucks to buy the normal headset if you're strapped for cash, and if you are not, then buy a good headset from turtlebeach or triton.
Rated 1 out of 10 by MitchTheGuy Not worth the hassle to try.
I just picked up a pair of these from my local store to replace my beloved headset that has died on me today. I saw a few reviews figuring it wouldn't be the best but I figured I would give them a shot. Giving it my small test run to see if its up to par with my last pair I went into a party with a friend. The hearing is decent, slightly more muffled then I'm use to, but the volume at which I have to speak is ridiculous. I practically have to speak in a yelling manner for the microphone to pick up my voice. If I placed it directly next to my mouth like most pairs it can pick up my voice at any volume I speak in, but its not close enough in its designed position to hear me. I would rather go with any other brand of microphones then these.
Rated 9 out of 10 by BNL78STEEL Best Value Mic! Free upgrade from normal Xbox set!
Best value mic there is, hands down! A cat ate through the wire of the normal $20 Xbox headset that I had previously, so I went on down to the Gamestop but they were sold out of those. Found the only $20 and got it. Then my roommate reams me out saying Afterglow is cheaper than even Mad Catz. But, instead I was extremely pleased. Basically for the same money you get every feature upgraded. 1.Mute button/volume control is super convenient on your ear 2.Obvious light for mute 3.Comfortable ear piece that actually cancels out sound 3.Study plug that won't constantly unplug 4.Sleek design with glow 5.Comfortable grasp of head instead of constant pinch 6.Perfect level for talking voice(doesn't pick up mumbles)

Because I had to buy 2 sets of headphones, I took the cheap way out & bought these. They look pretty cool and knew my boys would love them. Christmas morning they were THRILLED that the received them but HIGHLY disappointed as soon as they hooked them up. BOTH sets were in-op. They could hear just fine, but the person they were playing couldn't hear them at all - mic didn't work. Day after Christmas - we took them back & exchanged them for Turtle Beach. Their happy gamers once again. Was most impressed with the service at GS. When we brought them back WITHOUT the packages the girl asked no questions and exchanged them hassle free!!!

when i got a afterglow to replace my broken wired mic before this i got the afterglow plugged in and all the cliche's required i found out that it had horrific quality speakers and the "glow" was nothing but a little almost non-existent 1-millimeter baby-blue ring that is nothing compared to the box picture as well as when i talked over Xbox everyone sounds like there talking through radio/scuba equipment as well as a annoying echo that happens even when i talk quiet and when the mic was at least 6 inches away from my mouth causing me to use Skype on a laptop because everything i said echoed back to me even if i was quiet
Rated 3 out of 10 by Effigylord Doesn't Work with Afterglow Controller
I found this headset at Target about a week after I picked up an Afterglow controller. The headset doesn't even fit the controller, you need a wireless one (or one with slots for the two side tabs). For a short time I had to wrap the wire around the ear piece for the mic to work. You do have to speak rather loud but the earpiece is loud itself so you can clearly hear others. The lights aren't half as bright as depicted in the photo but it's rather cool nonetheless. I found it at the same price as an official Microsoft headset but in all honesty I think I would rather have one of those instead.
