Not the version I was expecting
With the release of Cybertron for ps3 and 360. I was a bit excited to see that the Wii was getting a version of the game also. After around 10 mins of playing I was utterly disgusted with myself. Why do I keep buying transformer games thinking that they will be any good? The control is very weird. You are basically only shooting stuff on screen like the old arcade shooters "area 51' or 'Jurassic park". I understand that making a transformers game for wii is difficult, but I would like to control the character. The game even dictates when you can be robot or machine. A transformers game without the ability to transform. If I was Hasbro I would be ticked off and want my game to be produced by someone else. On a good note the game looked decent and had good background music. Very good voice over work. Control of the cursor to shoot is very tricky but the interface to switch between weapons is very fast. You could snipe someone and pull out your blaster to shoot someone that popped up in front of you with a flick of a joystick. In closing the game sounds and looks just like the movie that was released last year, but also like the movie you cannot control the transformers. If you are a die hard transformers fan you should rent for a night, but do not buy this game.
This IS A Good Game
Hey, guys. I just wrote a review on this game a few days ago about how it looked. Well, just a few days ago I bought the game and just beat it on both factions and I must say for a rail shooter it IS a good game. I know some might disagree but if you look over, meaning if you just ignore the rail shooter part you will have fun with this game. AAlthough I hope the Transformers Prime game that is going to come out in teh near future for the Nintendo consoles won't be on a rail shooter. And yes, for those of you who don't know that a Prime game is coming out. It has been confirmed I can't wait to do a Review on the game itself. Till then fellow gamers. -John
Not What I Expected, But Still Great.
I am a huge transformers fan, so I was so excited when I first heard about this game. My mom got it reserved for me, and the day I got it, I looked at the box. It was "Cybertron Adventures" instead of what I thought it was, "War for Cybertron", so I knew it wouldn't be the same as the PS3 and 360 version. Then, I looked on the back to see if there was character customization (which was the thing I was most looking forward to), and it said nothing about it. It is only on the PS3 and 360 version. So then I played the game. It was wicked, you had 4 crazy powerful weapons to mow the enemies down, the graphics were the best I've seen on any Transformers game, the sound effects were great, the music was decent, there was a campaign for the Autobots and the Decepticons, co-op, and three difficulty levels; Easy, Normal, and Hardcore. You could even level up to unlock concept art in the gallery and have a Challenge mode where you replay the levels and unlock acheivments. But here's the catch; you can't move where you want, you cant transform at will (which is pretty stupid, since it is called "Transformers"), you can't do side missions, and you can't free roam;everything that made the first game great. I was pretty disappointed, but I'm not gonna lie, this game is awesome, especially the Autobots' finale; that last level was sick!!!!! dariusjr98 out! d=D
Eh... not really worth the $50.
Well. I paid full price for this game, and I don't know if I should have. The price is the same for all the Transformers games, and I think the others are much better. The trailers are misleading, because you donor create your own character. You do not even choose your character, it is chosen for you on each level. Challenge: Not all too challenging, all you do is shoot enemies with the same four weapons over and over again. However, it snags an 8 because of the final boss battle, which is very difficult. Controls: Quite difficult to get used to. Unless in car mode, you do not even move around. The Nunchuk is to switch weapons when on foot. Also, you cannot switch between car and humanoid modes at will. Graphics & Animation: Great graphics for the Wii. Animation is very smooth. You can also switch weapons during cutscenes, which I find very cool. Interface: Not much to say here. Very good interface. Length: Comparable to Sonic and the Dark Knight. Only shorter. Much shorter than I expected. You can, though, play as Autobots and Decepticons, which lengthens it a little. Sound: A 10 for great sound. The battle sounds real, and the music is very cool. Storyline: If you pay attention during the cutscenes, you will see how great this storyline is. All in all, the line "Become the ultimate weapon" is misleading. More like "Stop the ultimate weapon".
Not. The. Same.
This is NOT War For Cybertron. Lets say that right off the bat.
Once you get over the fact that Adventures is NOT the same as the 360 version, the game is ok. Ok at best, I mean. Compared to War for Cybertron, Cybertron Adventures is a stripped down, watered down, mindless piece of of a Wii game. The story is fine, the graphics and sound are pretty cool, but when it comes down to it, the game is a rail shooting wannabe Xbox game.
Don't waste your money on this game. If you are truly a die hard Transformers fan, then you will like it. But if you are a die hard fan, go out, buy an Xbox, and buy the REAL version of Adventures.
worth the money
This is a 3rd person shooter that is on rails. It is a fun game with simple controls. It has two decent length campains. Each campain has a challenge mode with four challenges for every level. Each level has one easy challenge, one almost easy challenge, one hard, and one slightly harder. It also has a rank for you. Everytime you complete a level you recieve points and those points increase your level. With each level you get artwork unlocked. This is a good game if you can get over the fact you only control your characters weapon and if he is taking cover. This is lack of controling movment is really the only downside.
To repetitive and Boring
When I first saw the trailer for this game I couldn't wait for it to come out! I only had a Wii at the time so I rented it for that system and it sucks!!!!!!!!!!! You can't even move your character, you can only shoot. It's like two hours of game play where you stand in one spot and shoot at people. Don't buy this game on wii. If your gonna get it, get it for Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 because it's great on those systems. But don't get this game because it's to repetitive and get's boring after 30 minutes.
best game ever
its the most awsomest game ever i got the wii for my birthday and also this game and well it was awsome . well what sucks about it is that u cans transform whenever u want but if u like a game thats a shotter this game will be perfect and whats awsome is that u can be the autobots and the decepticons its really awsome cause u can be optimus prime, ironhide, bumblbee, rachet, sideswipe, megatron, soundwave.starscream, skywarp, thunderkracher and lots more so if your a transformers fan u will have to buy this game for the wii
First off, I am a HUGE fan of the Transformers '80s series. I hadn't heard much about this game at first, but all I know is that it was supposed to be great. So I bought it the day it came out. Bad mistake. What is a Transformers game without the freedom to transform? A light shooter with characters similar to those of the Transformers series. The graphics were OK and the sound was great, but if you're a hardcore Transformers fan, you WILL be disappointed. But it is a great light shooter.
