Rated 8 out of 10 by BaconBoyGaming Not Great, But Better Than Most Sonic Games
This is an okay game, and a stellar one by Sega's standards. I think this is better then all of Sega's other games.
Rated 6 out of 10 by Blader7144 fun at first, boring after you beat the game
This game is perfect for sonic fans or kid gamers from 6-8.The gameplay is good, your running in these places, jumping, smashing robots, and using aliens that have special powers that can do only one thing.the aliens are called wisps and there are 8 of them. The graphics are very good and its very fun at first, but boring when you beat it.I'll say the vey fun parts are in the ''asteriod rollercoaster''These levels are amazing how you ride on an rollercoaster and smash rocks!I'll give this game 6/10.

Great game, a lot better than recent sonic games. It felt good to play a good sonic game again......
Rated 1 out of 10 by Gameplayer99 An overrated, mediocre, and unoriginal platformer
As said in my title. This game is being portrayed as a PEFECT game. Such is not the case. Unless you are a Sonic fan, your hard-earned money is better spent on a different game. The Wii has plenty of better choices. Now onto the review.
What keeps this game from deserving 10 points you might ask? Let's see. The game itself was not as fun as the fans portray it to be. This game suffers in many areas. For starters, although you might not like to accept it, this game is not very original. It makes a lot of references to games like Super Mario Galaxy for example. Even one of the developers acknowledged that they designed it similair to Mario games in order to appeal to Mario fans. Making the game unoriginal. Don't believe me? Check the link.
(I can't post links on this review, so type "Sonic Colors aims to please Mario fans" in the Yahoo search engine to find the developer's interview.)
Now onto the actual flaws of the game. Although it is a step in the right direction for many, is that still saying much? Starting with the controls, the controls often feel very unprecise and Sonic's jumps are very "floaty" making the 2D platforming sections of the game feel more tedious than fun. Many levels of the game also contain a surprising number of bottomless pits, making most of the deaths feel extremely cheap. Even in the 3D sections, you often find yourself dying for unkown reasons because of how fast Sonic is running. Then comes the repetitiveness of it all. Many times you will find a large number of enemies in front of you, and all you have to do throughout is mash on a button to attack them. The bosses especially suffer from repetitive gameplay. Then comes the traditional Sonic formula that holds almost every Sonic game back from being a truly engaging experience. More often than not, you hold the d-pad in one direction throughout most of the levels. This becomes apparent in levels like "Starlight Carnival" where you are entertained by the nice eye-candy rather than the gameplay itself.
I could go into more detail, but overall additional flaws include, little replay value, the game is short, filled with cheap deaths, confusing level design, horrible multiplayer, unprecise controls at times, frustrating 2D platforming, repetitive gameplay/boss fights, and overall lacks the polished experience of other platformers.
