Resident Evil Archives
it is a great game, and the bosses are great.
This is the best resident evil I have ever played, and it is a great survival horror game, because it is challenging and the bosses are fun to kill.my favorite is the lisa trevor because you fight her more than once, and the way she dies.
Believe me, this game is one of the most EPIC games you will ever, ever, EVER play in your entire lifetime. Well, other than MW2. Anyways, this game can be spine numbingly terrifying if you play it in a dark room without the lights on, and when your house makes random noises. If your into the Resident Evil franchise this is a MUST for all players. After all, it was the first. This game takes you through the Spencer Mansion, somewhere near Raccoon City, AKA Umbrella HQ. At first the game is a bit hard, of course, since you can start with Chris who has a knife, or Jill who has a handgun AND a knife. There are lots of twists, puzzles and zombies. Lots and lots of em. Not as many as L4D but still a lot of em. If your one of the people that started playing RE:4 then you have to play this one. Yea its got crappy camera angles. Oh well. Still a better game than RE:4 was in my opinion. That one changed the whole way of playing it, yes, its fun, but this one, this is the better one. Resident Evil 2 is completely the best one though.
Brains will be eaten...
Let's face it. Everybody loves seeing a game they used to play all the time remade and amped up. I was a big time Resident Evil fan. I played that game back when the PS1 was popular and despite the graphics back then, I still almost crapped my pants seeing those blocky zombies trying to kill me. There is one small clarification I would like to make. For people who are thinking this is going to be similar to something like RE5 and RE4, expect something twice as hard. RE5 is where the game veered away from survival horror (what RE1 is) to a horror shooter; RE4 was middle ground for the two. RE1 is known for it's difficulty and ability to make you fear for your characters life, like a proper horror survival game should. Now for this remake, the controls can be a little difficult sometimes, and the camera angles will probably frustrate some people, but don't let that discourage you. The graphics are way better than they were on the ps1, the sound and music is improved as well. Expect the same old story line and the same old classic characters remastered! This is a must get for fans of the original RE, and I still recommend it to people who liked RE5 and RE4. Just expect something much much harder, but hey, That's what makes a game fun right?
Plenty of new additions
First i want to start out by saying that this is a remake of the very first Resident Evil, that alone should be enough for you to want to experience it! This is by far the best Resident Evil of the old days. Before 4 changed the way the game played, this was the best and scariest one. Seeing the old mansion redone in gorgeous graphics that still shine today is awesome! Do not believe the reviews that say there isnt enough new content. There are SEVERAL new areas and enemies in this installment! New mechanics such as self defense weapons should you be grabbed by a zombie and need to escape fast. Corpse burning to keep the zombies from coming back even stronger(which leaves you keeping an eye out for gasoline) it's not a pain either, it just adds that extra element of cool. Hands down this is the best looking Resident Evil on the old consoles, Veterans and newbies alike OWE it to themselves to play this! In fact i just ordered my second copy! Time took it's toll on my first one. get this and Zero turn off the lights and relive the original nightmare! Now if only we could get a remake of RE 2!!!
The only other Resident Evil games I have ever played are Servivor, and RE3 both for the Sony Playstation. I loved Servivor, its one of my favorite games, but In RE3 I just could not get use to the controlls where you press side to side to rotate your charitor and up to move in the directon you are facing, and it was kind of hard to aim. I was really disapointed to dicover that Resident Evil Archive has the same controlls as RE3, and it seems a little harder to aim. Also after playing this for a while its hard to play another game because the controlls are so different that other games you kind of have to reajust. The zombies in this are harder to kill than in the two other RE games I have played, which encourages you to run around them, which is a little difficult with the controlls. But the story line is killer, and urges me to play through my frustrations, and I think the grafics are great to for a wii game, the lightning is really cool. I'm not sure if I wold recomend this game, If you liked the old playstation games then try it at least.
Onnce you get passed the controls it is a really great game, you have to find missing parts of the puzzle, hidden parts of the manson, and kill many things in your way. I personly loved it, you don't have nearly enough ammo in the entire game to kill everything, meaning things just might have to go by you. However it is rather difficult to kill anything, untill you get a shotgun. in the begining with jill you have to find a noise, be very careful, and just don't try to kill it, you are only wasting shots that you will need very sorely and wish you didn't waste. I particulrly loved the backup weapons, such as the daggers you find aroun the manson. someone attacks you and you stab them in the eye, then kick them to the ground. Many things you pick up in the game hide things on the objects, though this game is not easy to play, and the controls aren't easy to master it is a great game all and all.
EPIC to this very day!
This is one of, if not THE best Resident Evil games out there! Most kids these days won't go and play a PS1 title because (sadly) graphics mean everything to this generation! That being said these are still amazing and the best way to experience the game that started it all!! This is easily the scariest in the series, you won't be running through the halls i can tell you that much! You will be taking corners very slowly and listening intently for the sound of shuffling zombie feet and groans as a indication that danger is ahead. The game challenges you to maintain your inventory ( not like the new ones where it's just a chore! ) You have to conserve ammo and health items. The puzzles are amazing, the combat is intense, and i personally think the controls are not as bad as everyone always made them out to be! The game just had a lot more atmosphere and creepiness to it. It seems like the series has forgotten what made it great in the first place and turned into another brain dead shooter, hence the zombies leaving the series! If you are like me and you are absolutely SICK of RE copying gears of war and CoD and prefer the time when companies COPIED RE instead.... then you are in for a treat my friend! True survival horror at it's FINEST!
DO NOT BUY!
This Game is extremly hard and long if you like re 4 or re 5 you definitly wont like this. The whole game is different every single time you enter a room the camera changes also theres NO MERCANTS! I bought this 2 days ago and i hate it you need ribbons to save (theres only like 9 in the game). you have to find guns and ammo ect. because you dont know were they are (the color cirlces around things). you die in like 3 hits from a zombie and all the rooms are locked dont waste you time buy re 4 or the umbrella cron. or the darkside cron. later this year. I am a big re fan ever since i got re4 ive played just about every one since then and this is the worst one. So unless you've played this game before lost it Nom and can't find it and if you have a wii then go spend your *** on this but for me im gunna sell this and prob get wii sports resort or save up for the metroid prime trilogy.
its probly the best resident evil game ever made the graphics are sweetness and the game itself is pretty hard all in all its a cool game for a hardcore gamer.
Classic RE reborn
First i'd like to say if you have only played the 4/5 versions in this series, dont' play this game. This is not the "let me shoot the hell out of every zombie i see and pick up everything i can" kind of game. These games (the originals) are about thinking first shooting second. With that out of the way, I loved the new things in this verson (i never played the gamecube one) so for me it was satisfying in all new ways, but it brought me back to a time where survival horror was about surviving and not shooting everything that walks. I love the Resident Evil series (except the failed attempts at multi-player aka outbreak files) Too bad RE 2 hasn't had this kind of remake yet. Other thank that, it feels like the gamecube kind of feel to it (graphics wise). In other words those who played the originals will love this those who only playe the RE4/5 won't.
