Resident Evil Archives gives Wii gamers the opportunity to play classic Resident Evil games they may have missed at a great value price. Experience the beginning of the Resident Evil saga with the remake of the game that started the survival horror genre, Resident Evil. The Raccoon City Police Department doesn't know what happened to the Special Tactics and Rescue Service (S.T.A.R.S.) team it sent out to investigate the Arklay Mountain area, where a number of people have recently gone missing. The unit's helicopter seems to have crashed in the woods, and it hasn't received any contact from the squad since. The department decides to dispatch another S.T.A.R.S. unit, the Alpha team, to check things out... but something goes terribly wrong. You take control of S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team members Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine (both recently seen in the smash hit, Resident Evil 5). Your mission is to investigate the ominous mansion at the core of the horrific disaster and uncover the secrets behind a radical, genetic research facility. With unspeakable horrors lurking around every corner, the ultimate test will be to make it out alive! Relive the thrills and terror that defined the genre of Survival Horror and launched a franchise that has sold over 40 million games worldwide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EPIC to this very day! This is one of, if not THE best Resident Evil games out there! Most kids these days won't go and play a PS1 title because (sadly) graphics mean everything to this generation! That being said these are still amazing and the best way to experience the game that started it all!! This is easily the scariest in the series, you won't be running through the halls i can tell you that much! You will be taking corners very slowly and listening intently for the sound of shuffling zombie feet and groans as a indication that danger is ahead. The game challenges you to maintain your inventory ( not like the new ones where it's just a chore! ) You have to conserve ammo and health items. The puzzles are amazing, the combat is intense, and i personally think the controls are not as bad as everyone always made them out to be! The game just had a lot more atmosphere and creepiness to it. It seems like the series has forgotten what made it great in the first place and turned into another brain dead shooter, hence the zombies leaving the series! If you are like me and you are absolutely SICK of RE copying gears of war and CoD and prefer the time when companies COPIED RE instead.... then you are in for a treat my friend! True survival horror at it's FINEST!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Different From the Original That's not a bad thing, it actually is good. Most of this game is different from the original with added/removed rooms, changed puzzles, etc. The Mansion for the most part is still as you remember it, but Memorizing the original won't get you through this due to many changes. This is MUCH better than the original and graphics are better than most games of this generation. The controls themselves to age too well but it just takes some getting used to. Whatever you do, don't play the original and expect to beat this in the same amount of time during your first playthrough, the game has enough changes to make it seem like it's own game rather than being just a remake.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plenty of new additions First i want to start out by saying that this is a remake of the very first Resident Evil, that alone should be enough for you to want to experience it! This is by far the best Resident Evil of the old days. Before 4 changed the way the game played, this was the best and scariest one. Seeing the old mansion redone in gorgeous graphics that still shine today is awesome! Do not believe the reviews that say there isnt enough new content. There are SEVERAL new areas and enemies in this installment! New mechanics such as self defense weapons should you be grabbed by a zombie and need to escape fast. Corpse burning to keep the zombies from coming back even stronger(which leaves you keeping an eye out for gasoline) it's not a pain either, it just adds that extra element of cool. Hands down this is the best looking Resident Evil on the old consoles, Veterans and newbies alike OWE it to themselves to play this! In fact i just ordered my second copy! Time took it's toll on my first one. get this and Zero turn off the lights and relive the original nightmare! Now if only we could get a remake of RE 2!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay title The controls are strange since forward on the control stick is always the character's forward. Which means the character could be walking down, up, right or left depending on which way they're facing. Which is VERY counter intuitive. Also to save your game you need to find two items. Not just a save point, in this case a typewriter, but you also need to find ink for it. There's a good game in there somewhere and if you can get past the controls you'll find it, I couldn't get past the weird controls.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Resident Evil is REborn :P This is basically the original Resident Evil game but remastered with new storylines, character concepts, and rooms about the mansion! I think the graphics are amazing for the Nintendo Wii console! The only disadvantage I found in the game is that Chris has less inventory slots than Jill... But gamers can easily work around that! This is a super awesome game and I reccomend it to people who love zombies, action, and horror type games!
