With the Pro Evolution Soccer series renowned for its fluid, realistic gameplay, the new game builds on the implementation of Teamvision with additional key advances. As with previous releases since its inception in 1996, the ball is again treated as a separate entity, with the timing of shots entirely down to the player, while the new AI ensures that defenders work to close down space and block efforts on goal. Similarly, distribution of passes works along the same lines, with players using the space available to them to switch the ball. Close control has also been enhanced with more control when dribbling the ball, and a number of subtle moves added to bypass defenders and move the ball into space.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best soccer game ever I am no soccer expert but what I can tell you is this is one of the fun sports games on the Wii. The gameplay I was skeptical at first upon purchasing as with most Wii games I have low expectations. But, Konami did a really good job with gameplay and the controls are about the most unique layout and mapping job I have experienced in the 22 years I have been gaming. One thing I am happy to say also and it was a surprise to me as the instruction manual is very in depth which todays sports games are usually a few pages but nope not with this one Konami made it to where you will be able to learn the new control schemes. Graphically I have to be honest this is the weakest part of the game. Its not that the graphics are horrendous its just there very PS2 esque. Heres the deal the Wii is graphically more powerful than the PS2 and it would have been nice to have nicer graphics. But, in the long run once you start playing you can look past this aspect as the gameplay will engross you. Also there is a nice selection of modes to boot. Even the menus are very Wii friendly. Just point with the remote and press the A button to select. Load times are negligible and you barely notice them. Also the save feature is nicely incorporated. The sound is above average but not great. As not being a soccer fan I am assuming the announcers are doing a good job. I know I enjoy there commentary. The only part this game seemed to disappoint me was the WiFi as I could find could not find anyone to play against. Granted thats not Konami's fault it just makes me miss a mode and its probably my fault for waiting so long to make the purchase so I do not hold that against the game. Pros - great controls and easy to pick up and play, the game is pure fun, there are enough modes to keep you busy, fast loading times Cons - could use a graphical overhaul but other than that I would not change a thing Verdict - If you are a sports fan and looking for a good sports game on the Wii you cannot go wrong with Pro Evo 2008. Final Score 9 out of 10

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phenomenal Soccer Game! I just bought my Wii a few days ago used, and this game came with it, among about 8 others. This is by far the best game I have for the Wii. It is a BLAST! The controls can be as easy as you want, or as you learn more you can do anything with them! I am still playing beginner, and winning every game, but I will be bumping up to advanced soon and we will see how I far. This is the first game that I have actually enjoyed watching the play back after a goal! The graphics are terrific. The only confusing part so far has been player acquisitions and ability points. They are complicated and deal a lot with icons that I haven't figured out yet. But I keep taking guesses on trading players and I'm still winning usually. The pace of the game is perfect. It's fast enough to be exciting, but slow enough that you can keep up and utilize the controller options while playing. Go get it...and ENJOY!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loyal to FIFA games I have been loyal to EA Sports' FIFA series basically since it's inception and was very cautious when considering getting PES 2008 for the Wii. After playing it for maybe a matter of 4 days, I can honestly say that EA Sports will need a miracle to separate me from my hard earned $50 for the next installment of FIFA. PES doesn't have the licensing for all the teams, but they have used recognizable team names as well as players. It's a little disppointing cheering for "Man Red" instead of a licensed team, but once the match kicks off, that small item is forgotten. The ease in which you can storm down field setting up overlaps, free runs into space and eventually either zipping or lobbing in the final crucial ball is amazing! That's not to say that it's overly easy, the timing is critical and it's not like EA in you basically hit the pass button and a direction to get the ball straight to that player. If they are on the move you can overhit the pass or put the ball behind the player, but for me that added challenge is what's making this the best soccer game I've ever played.
