Pokemon Battle Revolution
Not as fun as I thought it would be.
Overall gameplay is somewhat decent for a Pokemon game. The game starts out with 11 Colosseums to visit, and seems fairly expansive at first, but expansive doesn't always mean great. While you can play this game without having any of the Pokemon DS games, you do need at least one and a DS to be able to make use of some things that can be obtained in here. The customization options that are given so you can make your own "custom" character seems more like a mini dress up game more than anything, and it could have been so much better had you been able to change a lot more things.
The actual gameplay, while visually stunning, seems to be destroyed by major repetitiveness (which literally had me falling asleep sometimes) and the lack of things such as a "real" story mode. One thing this game does do good at (assuming that you don't have EV/IV trained Pokemon from a DS game) is challenge you, especially the later battles, with some cool combos and the like.
Nothing to really complain about here. The graphics are pretty awesome for a Wii game, outdoing many other Wii games graphically-wise. While not as realistic as a good PS3/X-box360 game, they still manage to be rendered beautifully in their own cartoon-ish way. Each of the 11 Colosseums has their own scenery and each usually look really different from the last.
Well, the sound is somewhat enjoyable I'd say. There's a mixture of good and not so good songs in the mix, but most of the Colosseum's music seems to fit with the atmosphere of the stages pretty well. While there is not a single piece of music that I would personally buy an entire soundtrack for, (if there even is a soundtrack to buy) the music at least isn't ear piercing or not well made.
This is all a matter of opinion of course, but I don't feel that this game will personally draw you in for very long after you beat all the colosseums and have collected all the little accessories for custom characters. Wifi mode seems to be the only reason why most people I have talked to have even kept this game, since most people who still have this game own the handheld Pokemon games and are unable to use the DS' WIFI due to the DS only accepting WEP security type connections.
Thus, they transfer their DS team over to Pokemon Battle Revolution, and battle people from there.
Its not as Bad as most say
Now I've read many reveiws of this game, Most say the game is horrible and you should never buy it, now thats others opinion isn't it? This game is actually pretty fun, I only recomend it to someone who has a Gen 4 game, ie. Heart Gold, Soul Silver, Diamond, Pearl, Plantium. Without one its not as fun because you have to use unevolved pokemon, ( even if one is a psuedo legendary), I will say this game doesn't deserve a perfect score, it does deserve more than ones across the board. The gameplay is smooth, graphics are good, the sound is alright, one of the main reasons people hate on it is the MC, but come on, its not enough to call it horrible. It would be nice if they made a remake for Gen 5, (similar to Pokepark 2) Overall it deserves a Good solid 8.
Contrary to what many people say about this game, this game is actually pretty engaging. While it is true that the storyline of this game sucks, or rather it has no storyline, it's got things that make it pretty worthwhile. You can battle in Colosseums and then get currency after u win, which u then use to purchase stuff for ur character or items that can be sent over to Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, as well as the upcoming HeartGold and SoulSilver. (Which are gonna be awesome). The coloseums get harder each time, so the more u battle the more of a challenge there will be. But if you want a true challenge, u have to fight on Wi-Fi. Many people are online, and most of them can give u a run for their money. So if u want to see ur well trained Pokemon on the big screen and in 3-D, u should buy this. Overall, if you don't have a DS or Diamond/Pearl/Platinum/HeartGold/SouSilver DON'T buy this game. If you do, I'd recommend it/
A good game.
Now, this game is decent. I cant really say its great because, well its not. When comparing battle revolution to the pokemon stadium games and the two gamecube titles, it kind of falls flat. I mean, when you have a title with the word revolution, you expect a game thats at least better than the previous games. The graphics, for the wii, look pretty good, but if it were on PS3, this wouldn't look too great. The AI could be better. The battles range from too easy to too hard! Like all pokemon home console games, the soundtrack is epic. The story? What story? Your just battling in a theme park. Now this isn't that much of a problem because the stadium games didn't have a concrete story line either, but after pokemon xd, I expected more epic stories. Now, one huge complaint about this game is that more than half of the features are only usable if you have a ds pokemon game. Now, the stadium games had almost all the pokemon in RENTALS! I dont see why pkmn battle revolution has only about 42 rental pokemon (technically more). Overall, its a pretty good game if you have one of the ds games, but if you dont, there is no point in buying this game.
Good if you have a DS.
I would not recommend this game to someone without Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heartgold or Soulsilver. Without these games you have to battle with a rental pass, which isn't terrible but then your stuck using pokemon that the game picked for you and come on wheres the fun in that. With the games I've listed you can use the pokemon on those games to create a custom pass using guys you want and a character you want to be which is what really makes this game so great. Also with these games you can battle against your friends using your DS/Wii connection and see your pokemon on the big screen.
Pokemon Colusseum for the WII
I LOVE THIS GAME!! I am a big fan of Pokemon anyway, so I would not care if it was the worst game ever, but in this case it is not!!
Pokemon Battle revolution was a very good game despite a few minor flaws. to start off i would deffinatley not recommend this game to anyone who does not have pokemon diamond, pearl, or platinum because u will be stuck with the same 6 useless pokemon the whole game. this game is far from any of the handheld pokemon games or games on the gamecube. the graphics are amazing and seeing your pokemon on a 3D aspect is really cool, however a big letdown is the fact that when a move missess or fails there is no animation for it. your pokemon just stands there and staring blankly. the sound was okay but the announcer got really annoying and u really will want to turn him off in the options menu. you will see when you first get the game every trainer you fight is really awful. you wont have any trouble if you are good at pokemon games and you have trained your pokemon. after all of your boring fights you will finnally beat the game and realize that after you beat the game your next battles get very challenging. so the game doesnt get hard until after you beat it. the story line is just weak, however because it is just some kid who wants to beat all of the colluseums and all you do the whole time is battle weak trainors. the wifi however is amazing. you can battle random people or your friends which is good so you dont have to find a bunch of peoples friend codes and you can just play whenever you feel like it. i have had a lot of fun with this game and it wa deffinatley worth $50
could have and should have been better
pokemon battle revolyution is an average game for the wii. you start by choosing a battle bass from either sinnoh or johoto and you go to collosieum mode to battle your way through the region known as poketopia. the collosieums for this game are very unique and fun to play on. from waterfalls and crystal caverns to gardens and downtown skylines. but this game isn't as good as it looks. when you get a battle pass your pokemon are level 50 and they will stay at level 50. but one cool thing is that if you own pokemon diamond, pearl, or platnium you can transfer all your pokemon from the pc to pokemon battle revolution. if you have 2 players you can choose free battle. this is where you choose rules, battle pass and location and you duel it out until a winner is determined. this game also supports wi fi to battle people across the world. the online isn't bad but it lags to much and it takes forever to wait for the trainer to choose a move. but still this game is good and you should buy it if you're a pokemon fan. especially if you own those diamond and pearl games.
Waste of money!
I bought this game and I really regret it now. I am a fan of Pokemon, but I would rather play Pokemon stadium than this game. 1. This game has the worst music 2. Not much effort was put into this game 3. You basically go from colluseum to colluseum and after about 10 of them or so, you beat the game. I beat this game on the first day that I got it. (And Im not talking about staying in my room in the dark and playing all nightand playing this game hours on end, I'm talking about a couple of hours) 4. In this game, you get rental passes that choose the Pokemon for you, and you only get about 6 passes, with 6 Pokemon on them so thats all you get 5. There is not a wide veriety of Pokemon that you can see 6. The game does not tell you AT ALL that you need a Nintendo DS AND either the game pearl or diamond to transfer Pokemon to and from Revolution to make your own pass and see other Pokemon. I would have liked this game if it werent for the needing a DS to do all the fun things.
Back to the stadium style, for better or worse
I don't know what to say about this game. I'll start by saying, don't pick this up unless your have a 4th gen pokemon game. Your exp. will not be too good. With that said, I will also say that i'm one of the few that loves the gamecube pokemon games. This game, however, isn't like those, but rather, like the N64 games. You only fight, that's it. There's no feeling of acomplishment you get when you finish the game, just more fighting. If you don't use your pokemon, you have two choose from 2 sets of bad pokemon. The graphics are nice, however, very nice! It's quite amazing for a wii game in the same way MH3 and Sonic Colors amazes you. The sound is very nice too. Despite those, however, I would say skip it. Its ok in its own right, but there's no adventure to it. And its does't even do the stadium thing right. In pokemon stadium, at least you had gyms to beat, so there was something to work for. If you are a pokenut like I was, go ahead, but if you want a pokemon ADVENTURE, get the gamecube games, or the GBA games.
