Can you brave it? YEEEAAAAH!
Phantom brave is a tactical RPG, a rare treat for wii owners. The game plays similar to Disgaea (it is a spinoff afterall) except that you only control Marona, who in turn is able to summon up to 8 phantoms on the field at a time. This number changes depending on equipment, as each weop takes up a phantom slot on the field. Confining phantoms to different items or weopons enhances, or decreases there stats. There are various kinds, such as tanks, mages, dungeon monks, and merchants. The story is pretty unique and int5eresting and the voice acting is good for the most part, but the graphics may turn some people away. This is a port of a PSP title, and it definitely shows. there is a somewhat steep learning curve, and the game can get pretty brutal at times, but as you learn you realize easy ways to level up quickly. There is only one hub world and the only equipment you have are weopons, but there are some great times to be had here.

Bad battle system with a good storyline
This is an overalll good game storyline wise, but why does it take Marona about three billion battles just to level up once? Also I find it funny that Ash can be at level100 and everyone else is at level 3. The battle sysytem isn't good (although I can't complain since I haven't played the game 'til now) and about the only way I could win starting out is the out of bounds tactic. Other than these flaws, the game has good storylines (if you're willing to torture yourself through the horrible battle system) Have fun, or go run XD

Great Game Made Better!
This game is great. I had the original game on the PS2. The gameplay system and storyline is wonderful. Whoever said it was dumb, didn't play long enough. Yes Marona is not the strongest of characters, that is part of the challenge. Like any RPG game you have to choose which characters to buff up by using them most and which get left off. You have to find that balance between having a really strong character that can't be beat and yet making sure you have enough strongish characters to defeat all of the bullies. One great part of the game is that you can replay levels. So if you unlock a new type of player you want to use you can take that player to the old levels where he actually has a chance to earn experience. The story follows a pattern and introduces you to many great characters. The new chapters adds length to an already full game. It's just great! .

Fun,Creative RPG
A Tale to be told, The game starts off somewhere in the past with a meaningless battle that show you how to do basic commands. The tutorials are dragged out...but once your past them the game gets going at a steady pace.So you start off on an island and befriend a girl named marona btw your a ghost "phantom" you were previously killed by a monster. So you team up with this girl who has the powers to talk to ghosts and summon them hence the title "phantom brave". The story is sort of strange and all sorts of confusing but its creative so what the heck. The controls in this game arent so bad but the camera and clustered land developement can't get annoying. The graphics are'nt an improvement at all but graphics don't make a game alone. The music is your typical music, repetitive and simple nothing wrong there. The voice acting is sort of bad but you can turn it off.The battle system is were it gets really good. Its a strange unique battle system where you have to summon ghosts to fight along side you.You can even create ghosts using the main girl on her home island in between battles. There is alot of customization for stats, name, race, type of fighter in the game you can even get monsters. To summon things you need to use objects/mostly plants and such on a map once again a unique battle system that gets you thinking. The game isn't very hard in the begining but it jumps around some parts are harder then others but theres wayst o make it easy if your having a hard time.Overall its a solid game, a little strange but if your an rpg/tactic game fan you should definatly pick this one up for some fun.The price is also a plus only ** bucks new and ** used you can get some bonus material like an audio/art cd i think.

Nippon Ichi never fails
This game has so much to offer. It has the best storyline and graphics aside from Disgaea and the tales series. There is so much you can do, customize and etc. Making characters is where you choose an character distribute points and give him/her a name for them self. Disgaea and this game have so much in common. All except this is working on traditional tactical rpg gameplay but with turn based gameplay to offer more of a challenge to the player. There is no grid and characters can move freely with restrictions of how far but none of the less you have to plan out your strategy before jumping into it. Much like Disgaea you will be level grinding alot. It could be to pass a boss or to just become the strongest character with the best equipment. Do if yooure a fan of disgaea then definetely pick this up.

I underestimated this game
This is by far the worst RPG game ever! This game is not worth buying at all. The main character only has powers to change plants or trees into characters and they have 5 turns till they disappear and you can't pick them again. I shouldn't of bought this game and no one else should. I played this for like an hour and I didn't like it. Don't let the video fool you. I guess it fooled me because of all the cool attacks and what not, but it never discussed that the main character has to "confine" plants or trees to transform to the main characters that is provided for you. It has that 3-D look like street fighter with a 2-D characters. The attacks that the characters can do on this is cool and the graphics is nice, but the only thing that killed this game is bringing your characters to life. If they took that out, this game would of been a "must buy." If anyone wants a real rpg game, I suggest you wait in the near future because there is a game that will come out sometime around September and it has online wi-fi. So you basically have a teammate on your side. NIS America company, at least create a good rpg game because the main character can't do any damage to anyone, which is an embarrassment for the main character. If she's out numbered and with low health, how can she revive?

Ignore Other Posters
This game is a REMAKE of the original Phantom Brave with improved battle system, improved and expanded plot, etc. Pointing out the flaws in the PS2 version is like pointing out control flaws in Metroid Prime when discussing MP:Trilogy. They've been altered, fixed, and updated. The original Phantom Brave received excellent reviews, and thus an updated remix can be expected to be even better than the original.

NIS's best
I enjoyed this game more than any of the other Disgaea style NIS games (and I've played them all). This game had great characters (not better than Disgaea, but better than the others) and a fun story. The humor is there but it's not as prominant as in NIS's other games, but oddly enough I enjoyed the humor in this game the most. The battle system is fun the fact that you can choose what item you want to make uber is unique. Yes, as someone else said, you can power up a tree (or almost anything else) to insane levels and pwn with it.. I think that's cool, not a problem. I'll definitally be checking this game out and I recommend anyone interested in it do so too.

Don't bother with this...
The battle system in this is very innovative and very fun... But, you will hate yourself later for all the effort you put into leveling up a tree or a rock... that's right, you use trees and rocks as weapons. Also, the plot contains none of the humor of Disgaea. In fact, the plot is very dry and boring, and needlessly sad. I got very far with this one, but in the end, I was angry at myself for spending all this time leveling up rocks and bushes and anything but traditional weapons. The plot never gets better, either. Just don't bother with this one.
