NPPL Championship Paintball 2009
Great but 2 flaws
If you are a paintball fan and you like the wii, this is the game I totally recommend you start with. It gives you a different assortment of markers, barrels, jerseys and everything you need to get your paintball season started. The 1st flaw I must point out is that the game only gives you very few KNOWN pro paintball teams. They're missing the most dominant team in my book, Sacramento XSV, home of Greg Hastings, Thomas Taylor and all of those players. I think they're missing the Ironmen in the pro league as well. I'm not sure because there's one Ironmen team in there. And the 2nd flaw, NO WI-FI CONNECTION!!!! This game would be the greatest paintball game if it had online play! Come on! But other than those flaws, i like the fact that you can play woodsball, the custom markers in the game are great, i wish you could change the colors though and last thing.....GET THE GAME!!!! You'll love it!
A very very good game
This was an excellent game.I first played and i hated it.I didnt touch again for two months. But when decided to give it a try one more time i loved it!I loved how you could do career where you got to get new people on your team or to upgrade your gun to something amazing. The exhibition was my favourite by far. I loved to go to some forest with seven people and have and all out war it was fun because id book it into the enemys base and either take out everyone or get sniped in the face.I also really like the quick play because i could either do capture the flag which you have to either book it into the teams base or kill everyone then get the flag. You could also do center flag where you have to kill everyone then take the flag to the enemys base. but now onto my favourite part of quick play and was elimitation its so much fun when your whole team dies and its just you in a corner against seven enemies! So overall this was a very very great game and anyone could have fun with this game and i mean anyone.
Okay starting off. This game is the evolution for paintball video games. The wii version is pound for pound THE best version. The zapper fell a bit more like a crossbow but, the zapper still feels like a real marker. Unfortunately I haven't found a way to play as my favorite paintball team ( San Diego Dynasty) but i can play against them which is pretty fun. The controls are awesome, they work great on shooting like actual paintball walking the trigger. You can buy authentic gear like Markers, Loaders, Barrels/ barrel tips, masks, tactical guns... There isn't much like a "Story line" to this game while you start in division 2 rising up through tournament to div. 1 then semi pro and finally PRO. Each time you beat a section like semi pro you unlock something big and you watch a little cool movie. WARNING PAST THIS IS SPOILERS when you beat the game you will unlock the planet eclipse SL8R pronounced slater not es el aight are. The big deal about this marker is that it was a limitid edition gun so it's not in production anymore and it's a beautiful and very expensive and fast gun.
It's on Wii for a reason
I can't say much for the game on other systems, but I do feel this game would play much better with a 360 or PS3 controller in your hand. I will say having Z and C buttons for shooting does make it possible to walk the trigger but then it's difficult to move with some sense of control. Snapping is possible but I can't seem to snap to my left, and I can't find out how to switch shooting hands to make snapping to the left more appropriate. Cover is nearly useless unless you just stand a foot or so behind it. Better off just running with some spray and pray - your teammates are better and smarter, if you start flanking the opponent faces you and your teammates usually take them out easily. No real strategy is needed, not anything like real paintball. I may not be pro, or semi-pro but I've played for quite a few years and this game doesn't give you a feel anything like you're actually paint-balling. If you're looking for some cheap paint-balling game to get you through what is too cold of weather to paintball in where I'm from it'll do, just try to get it on something more user friendly control wise than Wii.
When I first saw this game online I thought it sounded too good to be true. There hasn't really been any good paintball games so I thought it was gonna be a repeat. But when I saw all of the amazing features that were in it to give the most real paintball experience yet I gave it a chance and pre-ordered it. When it finally came I started to play it and within about 10 minutes I was hooked on this game. It felt so real and like I was actually playing paintball. After playing a few games in regular mode I went to online and it was even better once I did. Now I could play against other people and kick some ass. So give it a chance and dont jump to the conclusion that it was way too cool-sounding to be any good of a game. This is a really good game that puts you in the paintball drivers seat.
Finally a GHTP killer
As a d3 speedball player this is the best paintball game I've played. I've played ghtp and ghtp max'd on ps2 and xbox. For a nintendo system the graphics in this game are above par in my mind. The spray and ball break effects are some of the truest to the sport I've seen in any game. The sound effects are as well pretty close to the real game. I do have one recommendation to anyone who wants to get as close to paintball without playing it (cause anyone who plays knows tourneys and high end gear are overpriced unless you got help) is to play with the zapper. Using the zapper will give you pretty much the most immersive gameplay of any system. The only thing this game is lacking though is wifi play. Anyway all n all this a really great shooter for anyone who plays paintball or just likes shooters. Highly recommended!
This game was ok at first but the matches are seriously like 30 sec long and it takes more time to load then the match time. it also got old relly fast didnt wanna play it after a week. but if u can get past that it is an okayy game i guess
not to good
this game is not to good. the graphics are very good and the woods ball is awesome but that is like the only good thing about this game. i would recommend this game to people who are very good at paint ball and catch controls easily.
Better than GHTP Max'd
I'm a speedballer that loved GHTP Max'd, and was hoping for the new GHTP to be out soon, but as we all know we have been dragged along for over a year with promises of it coming out in a month or so. This review is basically gonna have a ton of comparisons with GHTP. I have only had NPPL for Wii so I can't vouch for any other system. The thing I hated more than anything about GHTP was when you started out you have incompetent teammates and a gun that was better off a paper weight. I found myself beating my head against the wall trying to eliminate opponents five feet away with no luck. Well, Nppl is better, much better. You start off with an Auto cocker SR and some decent equipment to get you on the field. Your teammates aren't the best, but they give you cover fire when needed. Another thing that I liked about the game is that it is more realistic than pretty much any other paintball game on the market. In previous games I would just shut down lanes from the break not even moving to a bunker and take out almost all the opponents. In NPPL you better find cover and find it fast. Once the enemy's find you they throw ropes of paint at your bunker and send their teammates to flank you. Controls: I heard lots of questions about the firing set up for this game, and people asking if there is snap shooting, diving, and other stuff that is a must for a decent game. The answer is yes, there is all the key features needed. You can run full speed and drop to your knees and slide into a bunker 5 feet away while shooting at your opponents until your stopped behind your bunker. You can also dive and slide into bunkers as well. To snap shoot you simply rotate the controller in the direction you want to lean out. You can also toggle between "lean" and "snap shoot". The firing buttons are the c and z buttons, so if you can work it right you can walk the trigger, however if you have huge hands like me its pretty much impossible. However, you can build your character up and be able to ramp. I know after the promotional videos came out people were disgusted with the horrible announcer on the practice section. The reason for the bad announcer is that Dynasty did the voice over work, and that's Yosh Rau teaching you accuracy drills. I also recognized Greenspan, and Fraige's voices. Overall: The game is great if you loved GHTP, but it is not an amazing game overall. If your like me and live in a state that paintball isn't possible 7 months out of the year, this game should get you through the long stretches of -30 degree weather. If you're not a paintballer, I'm not sure if you will enjoy this game much. Rent it and give it a try. I definitely think its worth the what I spent on it.
I really, really, REALLY hope this will be a good game. Ive seen the ps3 videos and blows me away. Obviously wii doesn't have those kind of graphics... but WHAT THE HELL seems fun 2 me. ALSO, i am pretty sure this will NOT have multiplayer for WII. I HOPE IT DOES THOUGH...
