Developers at Nintendo have dreamed of creating a simultaneous multiplayer Super Mario Bros. game for decades. The Wii console finally makes that dream come true for everyone this holiday season. Now players can navigate the side-scrolling worlds alone as before or invite up to three others to join them at the same time on the same level at any point in the game for competitive and cooperative multiplayer fun. With the multiplayer mode, the newest installment of the most popular video game franchise is designed to bring yet another type of family entertainment into living rooms and engage groups of friends in fast-paced Super Mario Bros. fun.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii offers a combination of cooperation and competition. Players can pick each other up to save them from danger or toss them into it.
Mario, Luigi and two Toads are all playable characters, while many others from the Mushroom Kingdom make appearances throughout the game. Players can even ride different Yoshi characters and use their tongues to swallow enemies - or their fellow players.
In some areas, players use the motion abilities of the Wii Remote controller. The first player to reach a seesaw might make it tilt to help his or her character reach a higher platform - and then tilt it incorrectly just to mess with other players.
New items include the propeller suit, which will shoot players high into the sky with just a shake of the Wii Remote and Mario's new ability to transform into Penguin Mario.
At the end of each stage during the simultaneous multiplayer mode, players are ranked based on their score, the coins collected and the number of enemies defeated.

This game is perfect for: casual gamers

New Super Mario Bros. Wii melds the side-scrolling gameplay of the classic Mario games with slick 3D graphics--and the result is pure platforming bliss. There's a little of everything here that made the NES and SNES Mario games great, including a few surprises. Along with the standard assortment of power-ups, there's also the Ice Flower, Propeller Helmet, and Penguin Suit to add a fresh twist (and yes, Yoshi does make an appearance in this game, albeit a brief one). Also new is 2-4 player co-op: Players 1-2 assume the roles of Mario and Luigi, while players 3-4 play as yellow and blue Toads. Things can get pretty hectic in co-op if you can't get everyone to coordinate their efforts--but it's still a blast, and less experienced players can always enter a bubble by pressing A to let others do the tougher portions for them. Aside from the main game, there's also the Coin Battle and Free-For-All modes to extend the multiplayer fun.

The controls are tight and play just like a Mario game should. You'll hold the remote sideways like an NES controller, with buttons 1 and 2 for jumping and actions. You can shake the controller to do a spin jump, as well as pick up items when next to them. Tilting it allows you to manipulate certain platforms, ect. It WILL take some getting used to, but the motion controls are never overused...so it's not an issue.

If you haven't played a Mario game in a while, fear not. Even though the later levels are filled with perils, checkpoints and extra lives are plentiful. If you die several times in any level, a Super Guide block appears in it. Hit it and you can watch as Luigi runs the course and shows you how to do it--an ingenius way to give beginners a boost. And if that isn't enough, you can also spend Star Coins you collect to watch gameplay videos that demonstrate how to farm for 1-ups, ect.

There's a lot to love about New Super Mario Bros. Wii, but Nintendo did drop the ball on a couple of things. There's no online support, which is strange for a multiplayer game in this day and age. Plus, Yoshi is only present is a select few levels. I'm not sure why Nintendo decided to do this; perhaps they wanted the new power-ups to take precedent.

Nevertheless, New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a stellar platforming game suitable for all ages. If you grew up in the 8-16 bit era, you may enjoy it even more than the Galaxy games.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a good game another Mario side scrolling game realy injoyed playing this and wining it but it does get boaring awile after you win the game but i havent been playing for a long time so i havent got all of the star coins yet to unlcock more levels so im not 100% threw it yet but its a great game you should buy it.

This game is perfect for: casual gamers

New Super Mario Bros. Wii is truly one of the best Mario games ever made. I've been playing Mario since the original so I was a bit worried about the new power ups and motion controls however after playing those worries are cast aside. The Drop-In/Drop-Out Co-Op is amazing and doubles the fun, however, playing single player is just as awesome. The game looks great, sounds great, and plays great. If you are a Mario or platformer fan this game is for you, and even if you aren't I recommend picking this title up anyway. Overall I decided to give this game a 10 for its excellence.

This game is perfect for: casual gamers

This mario game is well, really fun. Its one of the reasons I stay on my wii for more than an hour. Its addicting, yet frustrating, especially in world 3 where there is alot of snow and ice and you slip alot. But that can be helped with the penguin suit which shoots ice along with the blue ice flower. The powers are great and fun, but my favorite is the orange mushroom hellicopter hat. This game is worth buying but beware getting annoyed alot, at least thats what I do when I cant stay alive in this game, but if you are going to buy a Mario game for wii, and dont know which one, I recommend Super Mario Galaxy, thats the most fun Mario game in my opinion.

This game is perfect for: party gamers

This game is great for casual gamers and parties. It's a good game to just pick back up when you're bored and play a couple levels. Obviously not for hardcore gamers, due to it's lack of both call and duty. However, it's fun for all ages and I enjoy playing it every now and again. I would recommend you to pick this game up at your local game stop!

New super mario bros wii is an excellent game, its multiplayer mode is awsome, the graphics are great, the sounds pretty good, but the only flaw is the lasting appeal, dont get me wrong, when I played multi player mode with my friends it was a great fun game, but when you play alone the game isnt a fun, this is a great party game and for when you have friends over or a familey game night, so if your a party gamer I recomend new super mario bros to you.

This game is perfect for: casual gamers

Mario games are always great and they really grabbed the golden star with this one. Nintendo created a classic Mario game that you can play any time, and be entertained every time with it's level designs and bonus items to use during a level. If you are a fan of good old Mario or just looking for a new, fun game for Wii, I highly recommend this one. What will be Mario's next appearance? Yoshi fans anyone?

New super mario bros wii is one of the best games on wii. the stroy begins with princess peach's birthday party. she is then ambushed by bowser jr's minions that where hiding in her cake. she is kidnapped as usual and is taken to bowser. along the way you go through some crazy and colorful environments. from ice worlds and the mushroom kingdom to jungles and a desert plus a mountain. there are many new and old power ups in this game as well. there is fire mario that power up allows you to throw fireballs. and there are 4 new power ups. my favorite power up in the game is propeller mario. this suit allows you to fly into the air and hover down. ice mario is the same thing as fire mario but instead he throws ice balls which freeze enemies instantly allowing them to be thrown. penguin mario allows you to slide on your belly like a penguin and hurl ice balls. and finally there is mini mario. this allows you to shrink and you can run on water and jump farther. this game also supports a really fun multiplayer mode. up to 4 players can play. they can choose from luigi, yellow toad and blue toad. and you can either do a co-op stroy mode or do battle mode which include mini games. the game has excellant replay value because of the star coins and cannom challenges plus helping toads. and the remixed music is awesome. so overall new super mario bros wii is 2d mario gameplay at it's best. next to the galaxy series of course.
