Call Your Shot Makes it Worthwhile
Mixed Reviews from me on this one. I was really looking forward to the Call Your Shot feature so I ignored some of the other complaints and bought the game. Some specific points: 1. Call Your Shot is an AMAZING new development. The ability to draw custom pass routes while at the line of scrimmage is probably the best new thing in Madden in years. REALLY COOL! 2. Graphics. I paid little attention to other comments about graphics thinking - "HEY - it's the Wii - it's about gameplay, not graphics". Well - I'm still disappointed. I have Madden07 for the Wii and I think the graphics were much better in 07. The resolution is probably improved a bit this year, but almost all realism has been taken away. The fans in the stadium look like dots and the field - OH HOW UGLY IS THE FIELD?? There used to be detail and shadows. Now it is just Nintendo Green. Even if you add snow the field just changes color slightly. The falling snow or rain used to make the game feel more real. The field looks as though Mario, Boo, and Bowser should be playing (which would be ultra cool, mind you - BUT THEY'RE NOT!!!). It is way too "cartoonie" for an NFL game. 3. Controls. I LOVE THE Wii CONTROLS. I'm still getting used to the changes from 07, but I think it is way more fun than just pushing buttons, particularly the running moves and the tackling. 4. Other games. I'm actually having a lot of fun with the 5 on 5 Big Head game. The play options are limited, but with Call Your Shot, you can make any pass patterns you want. This game feels just right with the cartoon field, since it is a FUN mini-game. 5. Why no more Madden Cards or Unlockables? And maybe these were gone in 08 - I'm comparing to 07. I never used the cards themselves much, but I enjoyed earning points and collecting the cards. And it was cool unlocking new stadiums and historic teams. It gave me incentive to try to get 200 yards rushing with a player or to beat the CPU 42-0. I will miss that. And - I mean - there's not even a Super Bowl stadium. Why not? This is a bummer for me... Combine the lack of alternate stadiums and the fact that even snow and rain doesn't change the look of the field and it just feels like you're always playing on a green screen - very 1990's.... 6. All Play and Celebrations. For heaven's sake - just turn them off right away if you have played Madden before and are looking for a serious game. If you're just looking for some Wii party fun, then by all means shake your Wimote and nunchuck to your heart's content after you score. I HATE BOTH OF THESE. (it did take me a few minutes the first time I played to figure out that the game defaults to ALL PLAY and I had to learn how to turn it off - you can't even select your receiver!). Overall - Once you turn off ALL PLAY and the celebrations (and some of the other cute graphics for that matter) it is a solid version of Madden with really great controls and a unique feature that no other version offers. I will PROBABLY keep playing this year's game because of the Call Your Shot feature. And I will play the 5 on 5 for quick fun. But, there's still a chance that I will miss the realism of the older versions and just manually update my 07 roster for this year and trade Madden09 in.

This Game SUCKS!!!!
This game is stupid. when you have a fantasy draft on franchise and when you go to play in play now the roster from franchise is on the teams roster. The only good part about this game is that you can challenge your friends in a trivia challenge. This game sucks on the Wii. The Wii plain out sucks too.

this could be better but it's fine
The madden 09 for the wiii was the third madden game for wii. The controls take a little bit of time to get down. Something i like in video games is the ability to make a team/person/whatever, but in this game, the only thing you can make is a rookie for the "Superstar" game. Even there, you can't choose what his hair or skin color, just his face. Also in "Superstar", my guy is a quarterback, and you can't be anyone but the quarterback (or whatever position your guy is in) unless your guy is injured or not playing. Also, you don't get to pick the play, and if your a quarterback, the coach seems to pick running plays a lot. The gameplay is okay, I can't see anything wrong with it, except that there a bunch of controls, (but you don't have to use all of them.) the sound is fine, i mean you hear grunts when you get hit or yelling plays out before the snap.Graphics are surprisingly good, not cartoonish like on newer versions, but not blocky like some of the older ones. I gave the lasting appeal a seven because there aren't many things to do, and the games get a little boring.I'd say though, if you get everything down, the game is fun. if you have a wii and like the NFL, get this game!

Stick with madden PS3/360
Ok, heres some reasons why this game is not good. 1:The controls are bad. If you move the wii remote a little, then the QB passes it. 2:You really cant choose who to throw it, it just shows lights on whos open. Green light means open. Red light means covered. So you have to aim with your wii remote to throw it to. So if i move my remote to throw to the right, then sometimes it will go to the left. Making controls harder. 3:You really cant decide how high or low you wanna throw it. 4:The graphics are horrible. The PS2 graphics are better then this! This game is nothing to realstic! 5:When ever you get a Touchdown (TD), or Interception (INT), you have to shake your Wii remote to make your player dance. Which is really anoying and bad. 6:If your the away team and score a TD, or INT, the crowd will cheer for you which really poor. 7:On 5 on 5 mode, theres no pens. So you can knock the reciever down before the ball even gets near them everytime! So i dont reccomend this game for real NFL fans. This is really more of kids game, and bad. So, dont waste your money.

Waaaaaaaaaaay too Easy, gets boring in a day
Too easy. I get the game, and win 112-3 my first game. As much as i looove to win , this was just terrible. Plus, horrible graphics, even for wii, and it gets boring.

Hard to control, not quite worth the money
'Madden NFL 09' is really just in with all of those games that are hard to control and are a bit overpriced. The controls are confusing until you play for a few days, although you can play as all the the football teams (go chiefs!) and all the players. There are also minigames you can play that are pretty fun too. All and all this is a OK game, just don't buy it if you don't usually watch and/or play football.

great game
this is a great madden game. it has a mode where you can make a team be its old style. over all it is a great game. it is better than madden 10 also. their is a couple glitches that will show up.

I was surprised how good this game was.
Madden NFL 09 for the wii was a surprising game.It was a lot a fun.Two of my favorite things was the call your shots when you wanted a specific route, you could change it and my second thing is the celebration after you score a touchdown or get a big sack. This was a pretty good game. For the football fan in you, this is the game. One through ten, this game is a 7.
