Product Details:

Based on The Lord of the Rings motion picture trilogy, LEGO® The Lord of the Rings follows the original storylines of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, taking players through the epic story events reimagined with the humor and endless variety of LEGO play. Trusted with the dangerous task to destroy an ancient magical ring that threatens all that is good, Frodo is forced to leave his peaceful home. But the ring wants to be found and the road to Mount Doom, the only place where it can be destroyed, will be perilous and riddled with Orcs and fouler things. To help Frodo, a Fellowship is formed - Aragorn the Ranger, Gandalf the Wizard, Legolas the Elf, Gimli the Dwarf, Boromir a Man of Gondor, and Frodo's Hobbit friends Sam, Merry and Pippin. Players relive the legend through the LEGO minifigures, as they explore wonders, solve timeless riddles, and overcome endless foes in their quest to destroy the Ring.

  • Explore all of the open-world of Middle-earth and experience epic battles with Orcs, Uruk-hai, the Balrog, the Witch-king, and other fearsome creatures.
  • Wield the power of the Palantír or Seeing-stone (one that looks far-away'), and jump between multiple storylines.
  • Experience the LEGO The Lord of the Rings heroes come to life in an all new way with the minifig characters delivering the dialogue from the films.
  • Collect, combine and forge new items in the Blacksmith Shop using Mithril, the most precious metal in Middle-earth.
  • Discover and unlock over more than 60 playable characters, including Frodo, Aragorn, Gandalf, and many others.
  • Collect and use a variety of weaponry and magical items, including the Light of Earendil, Elven rope, swords, and bows.
  • Play with family and friends with easy access drop-in, drop-out gameplay option.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a great game, not a single flaw! I like this game SO much I can't explain it in words. The entire game typically runs smoothly, unless you have problems with your console or something. The specific abilities and creative appearances make each character feel unique, although the Uruk-hai character should at least have its handprint helmet and chestplate on. Each level is different, with enemies like the Balrog, Sauron, Saruman, the Nazgul, Boromir, and even Gollum and the Mumakil (Oliphants)! I would actually describe this as being perfect for any gamers, not just casual ones. Each Mithril object has different, one-of-a-kind abilities, from shooting three arrows, pulling orange handles, swinging around arrow-pegs, turning your enemy into a skeleton, or lighting logs on fire. Each treasure is very well thought-out and mainly in appropriate places, though putting an Artist's Cap in Moria and stuff seems a bit... awkward, you could put it. Even if you've finished all the levels in Free Play and Story Mode, the Free Roam isn't bad. You can explore the world of Middle-earth and unlock characters like Gloin, Elrond, the Nazgul, Moria Orcs, Lurtz, the Uruk-hai, Rosie Cotton, Tom Bombadil, and even the Berserker. The levels' story is probably more connected to the movies than the book, because they skipped parts like meeting Tom Bombadil. They also added parts like the Dead Marshes. I think that some levels were a bit hard, like Weathertop and partly the Mines of Moria and Osgiliath. Weathertop was hard because after the Nazgul attack, it's really complicated to find all the parts and build all the fires and stuff. When you reach the part where you have to burn the Nazgul, it's hard to be able to aim and throw the stone and pick up the torch and stuff without the Nazgul killing you. The Mines of Moria was hard because there were simply too many orcs when you're fighting the cave troll. Otherwise, it would be fine. Osgiliath was hard because you have to keep switching between Faramir, Sam, Frodo, and Gollum, which is very burdensome. Plus the orcs that constantly attack Faramir get very irritating, because I have no chance to defend myself because the game lets them get very close before returning my control over Faramir again. Other then those flaws, it's the best game in the world.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy it Great game, would even make a great Lego movie. Better than TT Pirates. It would be better to make it a four player game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It was very fun, but don't play with a dark screen This game was AWESOME!!!! I'd say it was just like the movie and it had a lego twist to it. Note: I have not seen the movie but my dad could not stop watching me play it because he loves lord of the rings and he told me it was the same. I must say, stay on your toes when you get to the part with the cave troll because he is deadly. I loved the game, and I believe you will to [except it goes in dark areas sometimes so don't have a dark screen while playing].
