House of the Dead 2 and 3 Returns
Because Zombie Blasting Never Gets Old
House Of The Dead 2 and 3 were released on the Dreamcast and Xbox long ago, but these arcade classics never seem to get old. The premise is simple: Blast zombies in a first-person perspective as the screen guides you along the level. Save hostages, shoot power-ups, and try to survive. There IS a story hidden somewhere in here, but due to the laughable voice acting you'll probably never care what it is.
Since these games came out from 1998-2002, don't expect killer graphics or complex gameplay. In HOTD 2 you use a pistol, and in HOTD 3 you use a shotgun (keep shooting and reload, that's all there is to it). There are a few extras to unlock, but for the most part these are strictly bare-bones ports.
Each of these titles can be beaten in 45 minutes or less, but they have stood the test of time as arcade classics--a testament that gimmicky light gun games can indeed be a blast, especially with more than one player. If you're looking for another mature-rated game on the Wii, don't pass this one up.
I first saw this game on this site before it came out, I thought "Hmm, these are my two favorite arcade games and 2nd and 3rd are my favorites in the house of the dead franchise." So I buy it and have a real fun time playing it. If you're a person who is a house of the dead fan like me, you would notice that there is some new training games and videos, and you can play extreme mode in the third after you beat the arcade in the third. It's a steal at like ** bucks. Of course, the graphics aren't the greatest in the 2nd, but the game play really makes up for that. Plus they have good story lines. If you get this game and you're at an arcade or something like that, you can just walk past the games because you get to play them for free later. Bottom line, mowing down flesh eating zombies is really fun when you don't have to spend any quarters. Enjoy this if you buy, have fun playing.
I played House of The dead at D&B so I wanted to see if I could play it on my wii. So I bought 2 & 3 return. It was pretty good . The grafics were pretty good. The bad part about it WAS VERY SHORT. I beat the game in a week. It has a mode that you can have unlimted lives. But besides that its pretty good.
House of the Dead ROCKS!!!!
This game is a true classic like many others have said before. I believe the House of the Dead 2&3 Returns is one of the best shooting games for the Wii. It doesn't matter if you play it with the remote or if use the zapper you're still going to have fun shooting those zombies lol.

An Awesome Package For A Great Price
Yes House of the Dead 2 and 3 have been out for a few years now but that doesnt make them any less fun, and if your new to the series or your just itching for some light gun arcade fun this is a great place to start, and if anything it'll hold you off until the newest addition (not to mention prequel) House of the Dead: Overkill. Veterans of the series will no doubt know exactly what there getting with this complilation. For those who are new to the series let me just say that the story really is inconsiquential as all you really have to know is that there are X amount of levels to go through and a HUGE number of zombies and monstrosities that have to be blown to bits. At the end of each level there is a boss battle, defeat it and move on to the next zombie filled infested level. Its made all the more better with 2 player co-op so you and a buddy can blast these monsters staight back to their graves. Graphics - while the games have definately shown their age (House of the Dead 2 more than 3), it still looks good. You'll see chunks of body parts get blown off, blood spraying out, you know...all the good stuff. Would it have been cool if Sega touch it the graphics a bit? Sure, but again, whats on display here is far from terrible. Sound/Music - EVERYONE who's played the HOD series knows that the voice work is EXTREMELY CAMPY so you'll either appreciate it for what it is or come to hate it. Music (when you can actually hear it when your not unloading round after round of ammo) is cool. It ranges from very "actiony" to morbid. Nothing that will make your ears bleed ('cept for the voice acting, though it IS intentionally suppose to be that way). Controls - Incredibley simple. B is to shoot, waggle to reload, and A to pick it. Does'nt get more complicated than that. Funfactor - Very high. I've been a big fan of Sega's light gun arcade games since I can remember and their House of the Dead series ranks amoung their best. Both games can be completed pretty fast though part 3 gives your much more replayability thanks to the branching paths that you can take. If your into blasting things to bits you'll have a great time here. 2 player co-op makes it even better. In terms of new content the only new addition would be the "Extreme Mode", which is sort of like a very hard mode that adds meele attacks and faster reload times (due in part to the faster zombies). Other than that, there the same (albiet fun) coin op games. This is a very sweet deal. The Wii has been getting a good share of light gun games and this complilation would probably be the best offering yet on the system. Gear up, lock and load, and blast these things back to hell.
i agree with the guy below me, sure H.O.T.D 2 and 3 was good, but you cannot beat the original, i mean i wish i could play it again without having to go to an old style arcade place. i want them to bring H.O.T.D 1 back, and gory-er then ever!
light gun games-wii
I remember playing house of the dead 2 on Dreamcast and part 3 on Xbox the story for both games is excellent. Both games are very challenging easy to play but hard to master graphics are good control options you can use the remote nunchuk or both the Wii zapper if you are looking for an authentic light gun action. Sound on these games is superb. Part twos dialog is still cheesy as ever. The interface ok responsiveness for this game does the job it was suppose too. I extremely recommend this game to any house of the dead fan or someone looking to have a blast with a Wii game on a weekend this will be a good way to spend some quality time during the week when there is nothing good to do. Give this game a whirl its one of my favorite games in my collections for my Wii!!!
A Worthy Additon to Your Wii Collection
Although the house of the dead 2 and 3 may not be new games, they are brought to the wii console in a way never experienced! The gameplay is the same in both games as in the arcade with new features such as setting the difficulty and other options. The House of the dead 2 has all of the options as previous ports (a.k.a. House of the dead 2 [Dreamcast]) with not much else added. Still due to the wii motion sensor it makes a great experience for a while since it is very short. Overall there's not much improved but this is one of the few House of the Dead games released for a console so it makes a worthy addition to your collection.
