Graphics great, Controling sucks
that graphics and gameplay were great but i didnt like the way you controled the main person, it sucked, you couldnt see hime when you were walking around and it was kinda hard to move him, when he was in the towns, and you could only move him with the use of the wii remote and you couldnt use the numchuck at all, over all it liked the game but hated the way you controled the main charater

dull
If you are hardcore RPG this game is not for you. It is extremely short and while it possesses descent graphical capabilities it just doesn't draw the player into the storyline like other games of its Genre..shall we say kingdom hearts...Final Fantasy (you might note that all three of these games are created by square enix). It has a very monotone battle system to it of hack and slash, no random roaming of a larger map searching for items. After a couple times of playing you can beat= this game in absolutely no time at all. Each play time gets shorter and shorter.

Good, but once it's beat, it's over.
This game is honestly very good. The hack and slash concept is really good for the Wii console, and, as a RPG gamer, it is hard to find games for the Wii. This game satisfies that fully, as well as adding in a decent storyline, and a small challenge after completing that. The replay value stinks once you get the best sword, as most games are once you get the best equipment. This game is definitely worth the rent or purchase, just don't expect it to last forever.

Worst Dragon Quest Game Ever!!!!
When i first saw the this game i really expected alot out this game, but was very dissapointed on how short this game really is. The first problem i had with this game is the first person view. I pesonally like a rpg that i can roam around a huge area, and look for mysteries, and they made this game like etrian oddessy, which is bad. You can probably beat this game maybe 8 - 9 hours, and thats ridiculous for this genre. I dont recommend this game at all.

Ummm...
I got this game, played it, and thought "Why did they make it?" It has good playabillity and storyline, but it just doesn't last! I would reccomend the turn-based DQ and ALL FF games instead of this. BTW Square, you need to make a turn-based Wii game, that way I'll buy it :P

Worse then expected
I have played a few games in the Dragon Quest series and this game was nothing compared to the rest. This game only has a few good points but it has many bad points. The only good points about this game are the music, the easy to understand controls, and the graphics. The bad points are that it is a short game, you can't explore the levels, on the levels you have 2 directions you can go, and there is very little deviation from the story line. The game is so short that even with spending 3 hours tempering swords I still beat the game in just over 11 hours (no game has taken so short a time before this 1). All you can do is go forwards and backwards and turn at preselected spots there are areas that even with switching characters each run I could not access them. Once you select the level that you want to do all you can do is go forwards and backwards you cannot turn around at all. And the only deviation I found away from the story line came after I beat the game and in the refectory you can challenge monsters stuck in 4 mirrors otherwise all you can do is follow the story line to advance in the game.

Dragon quest?
Five minutes into this game I had to pause and check the wording on the case. Was this really dragon quest? (The last taste of which I had gotten with the PS2 version VIII) The answer I came up with is that despite what the box says, this is not a dragon quest game. I enjoyed the length, the story of dragon quest 8, both things are missing here. You get to explore slapped together "zones," that all appear similar to one another. The ability to swing the sword to attack enemies loses it's novelty shortly, and when faced with the characters. You want to mute the television. Some of the most annoying, uninventive character concepts yet. It seems to me the point of having new games, on new consoles, is that they are suppose to be better than those before it. This is by no means, better, than the last dragon quest game. It is a waste of money, and time. One can only hope this is not a mark of the future of Wii RPGs.

Waste of time
This game was such a huge disappointment for me. I am a fan of the series and have played all of the games minus the DS ones. If you’re a fan of the series then do yourself a favor and don’t get this game. This game was designed for the average Wii user and not the hardcore RPG fan. This game offers very little with its basic controls, a boring story line, and cheap quests in cheap slapped together zones. You don’t even get any free will when it comes to exploring the map. You can’t leave the tiny town unless you’re in the middle of a quest. Once you engage on a mission you’re stuck walking down the road in a “rail” like setting where you can’t go left or right. You just hold up and you ride the rail where the game makes every little turn for you. I even walked back to town backwards by holding down… The only half fun part of the game was swinging the controller to slash your sword at the monsters. Even that got old really fast. You do get to team up with really lame NPC’s in 2 man parties but they don’t attack and barely do anything useful. I hated this game… RAWR!!!

Not quite what I had hoped for...
I found the game overall not as good as I expected. I have played the Playstation version Dragon Quest 8, and enjoyed the fact that the game actually took some time to complete. I was a bit disappointed that this game only had a limited number of quests, and although the story line was decent, it wasn't nearly as challenging. I found some of the characters to be a bit annoying, especially during fight scenes, it might have been better if they didn't even talk at all. I did like the way you could level up your swords and the options that came with it, and some of the "practice" games were fun for a bit. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys the action/adventure game, but might not have a lot of time to dedicate to long game play.
