Rated 9 out of 10 by mitoz Great Wii Game
Baroque is an amazing game. It is a dungeon crawling game with a variety of different monsters, weapons, clothes, wings and items useful in beating the other monsters. The storyline is very original and the battle system is very unique and fun. The characters are very hard to comprehend at parts. The graphics aren't as amazing as other games, but they have a sort of cartoony style to them that makes the game look great. The monsters are very original. The game is very hard even on normal mode so it will take you a while to beat unless you go on easy mode. The characters that you meet in the game are very depressing and you won't know anything about what's going on in the game until you start advancing more and more into the game. The game is very addictive when you start playing it and even if you die more than 10 times you still want to play. The game overall is amazing. This game has to be the best game I have played so far and I would recommend it to people who like challenging games with a lot of action.
Rated 10 out of 10 by Baroque LOVE IT!
Ok, so I had this game preordered, and I'm glad I did. It is an amazing game, it's difficult and the way the story is presented is very unique. You get pieces of the story in ten second intervals, randomly through the dungeon, as your characters memory begins to come back. Some will not like it, due to the difficulty and being put back to level one and losing your items when you die. The enemies are very original, creepy and fun to fight. There are many different weapons and types of armor, along with "wings" that bump up your attributes. One of the best parts is the music, I LOVE the music in this game, it adds even more to the paranoia you'll experience as you're going through the dungeon. This game has been in Japan since Dreamcast days (I believe) and it has at last been brought here, and it is terrific. Amazing, if you like Atlas and this type of game, I would buy it.
Rated 10 out of 10 by blakepainter AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok first off this game is not a mindless dungeon crawler like people make it out to be true it is a dungeon crawler but its randomized so its not the same stuff its almost like a mix of the dot hack series and devil may cry 3 most people dont like thios game cuz when you die you lose everything and go back to level one but thats actually a fun part for me cuz it makes it seem like you actually die i absolutewly love this game i had it on ps2 and my friend said it was better on wii i was hesatent to get it cuz wii controls are confusing at first but now im glad i id most games i beat in a day maybe two or three this one ive had it for about three weeks and havent beat it mainly cuz my cuzon scratched it up im going today to get another coppy and my cuzon erased my data but thats fine the game is so great i dont mind restarting for the first like hour the game makes no sence all you know is that the angel guy is guiding you and you have guilt of sins that you cant remember the game can get pretty irritating like it sets you up for failure the easy mode not to hard but normal is like other games on hard i love the game!!!!!!!1
Rated 9 out of 10 by Heather <3 Confusing but commendable
When I first started to play the game I thought the controls were awkward. Let's be honest people, every Wii games controls are awkward at first. It's not some repetitive dungeon game like people make it out to be. But it's not very customizable like the game itself tried to say it is. For the first hour of the game I promise you won't understand ANYTHING. From storyline to item use. But, in all fairness that's the point. You're meant to have lost your memory. No, that's NOT a spoiler. So the game really tried to make you feel like the character is you by throwing you into this world where you have no idea what's going on. The game can be really creepy at times and it seems like it sets you up for failure. A lot. Overall I thought the game was refreshing. A few more cut scenes and a bit of more info probably would have made it more enjoyable I wont lie but its not a game you can just breeze through. And that's what really made it excellent. And to anyone who reads this before they play the game: -Read the game manual. Yeah it sounds silly and never seems to help but a few pages of it are basically definitions of what some of the words mean. The game itself won't tell you till' it's to late and you feel like you missed out on a lot.
Rated 1 out of 10 by Altair This can't be the work of Atlus????
I'm a fan of the work that Atlus has made. I love the Shin Megami Tense series so much that I have them like trophies in my home. When I saw Baroque I wasn't amazed at the graphics but hey it's Atlus & I know they can't do wrong. I WAS SO FREAKIN' WRONG. OK it's a mindless dungeon crawler but some people like that & thats ok. Question would you like it if you're playing a game & your little brother or sister hits the reset while you're playing, well that's what you get. You level up by killing enemies but you have something called a vitality meter or VT that goes down while you walk around & fight. When you get hurt the VT will start fillin you're health. When your VT is gone so goes your health then when you die not only do all your items & weapons disappear but your level goes back to 1. So I fought & I'm on level 8 & I die, not only do you take my weapons & anything else I have but you take the levels, & I have to start over again. Why don't you take my manhood while you're at it. It doesn't matter if it's the PS2 or Wii, but this game isn't worth *** or ***. Here's what you do. Wait another week & pick up Persona 3 FES & see what a true Atlus tile is if you haven't played Persona 3 yet. If you want your eyes to bleed then Baroque is for you.
Rated 9 out of 10 by Slasher Rogue-like Dungeon Crawler
This game is NOT for everyone. Repeat NOT for everyone. Anyone that is a fan of Rogue-like RPGs will love this game, more than likely. The game is very hardcore and does not hold your hand whatsoever. You are on your own. I would suggest that you at least read the instructions and do the training dungeon once you have completed the beginning moments. Your character levels up rather quickly. Dying or getting to the bottom of the dungeon always restarts you back to the beginning of the game BUT there are new storyline elements that spring things up and add to the story. There are also these conscious orbs you will come across in the dungeons. Take your best item/equipment and throw it in there to use it in the next play through when you die or complete the dungeon. You can only throw one item per orb so make it count. The game has tons of items and equipment to find and use. Your character’s appearance changes with each different thing equipped. There is always some sort of new item you can come up upon and discover what it does. The levels in the dungeon are always randomly made so never expected the same layout twice. Overall the game has an addicting feeling towards it but really will only appeal to a certain crowd. If you fall in line with this crowd, its a must play, otherwise, stay away.
Rated 9 out of 10 by Drakato Good game if you know who you are.
If your looking for something to pass the time this game probably isnt what you want. This game is for hardcore dungeon crawling lovers. It isnt the easiest game and its complex as to advance it. You cant get to fond of your equips, and sadly you dont get any magic spells like it seems like you do. But this game is really in depth and you can lose yourself for hours, so long as this is your kind of genre. With a confusing story that maps itself out as you play onwards, and the difficulty you get when you pick normal is above what youd expect. If you love dungeon crawlers and dont give up easy, then pick this game up cause your in for a treat, especially with such a low cost.
Rated 7 out of 10 by JuliPixie83 Good Game For Completionist
If you RE pro gamer who likes the unusual, likes a challenge, and is sick of long, in depth story lines and linear game play (I DO!), then this game is for you. You die and lose al your equipment and everything when you die. That makes everything unique, and it separates this game from all those games where you just die and start from where you died. Too easy. I like long, story rich, rpgs, and jrpgs, so I did not fall in love with this game. Though many friends did:) In summary, great game if you do your research first! I love Atlus!
Rated 0 out of 10 by Altair I will still buy it.
I'm a huge fan of Atlus & its games. I love & own Nocturne, Digital Devil Saga 1&2, Devil Summoner & Persona 1,2 & 3. I will still buy this game & I'm excited cause Atlus has a new game out. I don't know if I should get the wii or the PS2 version but I do hope Atlus doesn't let me down on this game. The story is great so fans will be happy but I'm worred about gameplay. Please be as great as past Atlus titles.
Rated 0 out of 10 by Comchachkas Not so sure this is going to be good
well from what i saw in the previews. this looks like basically any other hack and slash game out there obviously people enjoy this but I believe it will get repetitive and boring very early after starting it and for it to be on the wii not the best systems to compliment this style of game I would suggest 360 or ps3 to get better graphics that would probably make the game more tolerable.
