Rated 10 out of 10 by Linkfan06 SETTLE IT IN SMASH!
There is nothing quite like Smash Brothers. Its a party game. Its a fighting game. Its for casuals and hardcore players alike. Its evolution into one of the fighting genres premier competitive titles was a bit of a happy accident.
Now we have been treated to yet one more game in the series that builds on what made the others so great. Its fighting strikes a happy balance between Melee's fast speed and Brawl's slower defensive game.
The amount of content packed into Smash for the WiiU is extensive. It could take you quite a long time to get all the trophies, unlock all the characters (50+ in total), complete crazy challenges and events. And if that should ever tire you? There is a robust online offering. Support for tourney's is coming too. Eight player smash elevates the game to a whole new level of crazy fun. Design your own stages and share them with friends. The game now has DLC characters in the form of Mewtwo, Lucas and Roy from Smash's past. Now we also have Ryu of Street Fighter fame. This is a game that will keep on giving.

With over 50 characters in the fighting roster, and currently four DLC characters and four DLC stages. Also, Nintendo integrated Mii Fighters, making it so anyone can join the battle! Play solo, Co-op, or play online! There are also MANY controller options: Wii U Gamepad, Wii Remote, Wii Remote + Nunchuck, Wii Classic Controller/Pro, Wii U Pro Controller, and the GameCube Controller! This is one of the best games on the Wii U!

So, i've been entranced with the smash series since the n64 release, they're really great games, but this one is fairly disappointing. i was watching all the videos that were coming out for this game, and the one thing that caught my attention was the online play. but once i got my hands on it i found out its good smashing fun... for offline. this online mode feels like trash, even with a wired connection and 50mbps down/upload, the mechanics are drastically different online, character hit boxes suck, countering doesnt do any good. i've seen my counter successfully poise through an attack without hitting the opponent, meaning, i didnt even swing my sword. overall, it's great for local play, not so great for online. I also have gripes with what they did to classic mode, there isnt a damned thing 'classic' about it. also, why is wii fit trainer even in this game? i seriously can't even... thats literally the worst character i've ever played. anyways, this turned out just like brawl, so many promises, nearly none delivered.

I bought this game for my son and times I find myself playing it as well this is a cool fighting game. Nintendo out did their selves on this one. Job well done.
Rated 10 out of 10 by BobBulb My Personal Favorite Smash Bros. Game
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is in my opinion by far the best in the series. Melee would always seem unappealing to more casual players or those with less skills, while Brawl felt WAY too floaty, slow, etc. you've probably heard it all before. This game manages to appeal to both casual players by being very accessible with a variety of stages, modes, and items, (and of course about 50 characters) while it appeals to hardcore fans by doing away with much of Brawl's problems. It even has specific modes online (For Fun, For Glory) meant to allow both types of players to have fun. The pace feels perfect to me, and I always choose to play this game over any other Smash game. The game looks great in HD, and the game has a soundtrack of hundreds of songs. With all of the characters and game modes to choose from, you'll almost never run out of things to do. There are very few downsides to this game (RIP Ice Climbers, Squirtle, Ivysaur, Snake, and so on) and I definitely recommend you at the very least try it out. It has been said many times no game could ever beat Melee, but for me, this game has done just that.

Super smash bros for Wii u/3DS is shaping up to be the best and most innovative game in the entire series. The stages look amazing and seem to be the best in the series. from skyloft and wuhu island to mario galaxy and the fan favorites final destination and battlefield. the character roster looks to be the best. newcomers like greninja mega man and the villager from animal crossing are welcome additions. and old favorites like mario, kirby, link and others are welcomed back. Online will have 2 modes. for fun mode is just a standard game with different stages, items and only your wins are recorded . For glory is final destination only, no items and 1v1 matches can happen. Another cool thing about the stages is that each stage has a final destination form with no obstacles, so if you play for glory mode all the time you don't have to see the same background or hear the same music. so overall smash bros for wii u looks amazing and is set to be released this winter.

Rated 7 out of 10 by Lucipher Great game but only if...
its a great game if you have the right controllers. playing with the wii or wii u gamepad is frustrating thus takes the joy out of the game. if you already own the wii u system and have at least two pro controllers then this is a must have game. if you are just purchasing the system and have gamecube controllers then you should hold off on buying the system until nintendo restocks the gamecube controller adapter. Why? because using the wii nunchucks or wii u gamepad are not really made for fighting games and purchasing a few pro controllers get VERY pricey. it has been a month and nintendo has yet to restock the controller adapters, clearly showing that they are more focused on existing customers and not on new customers like myself who has spent close to $400 on just the system and the smash bros game. there is no way i will be spending more money on a third place system, my primary is Xbox One and secondary is the PC.

I have been looking forward to this game ever since the WiiU was first announced, and it does not disappoint. The gameplay keeps you entertained and engaged while being a continual challenge to even the most experienced players. This Super Smash Bros is suitable for both previous and newcomers to the series.
