Contrary to what everyone says, this is not exactly the same as the original GC controller. It is functionally the same, but there is some minor differences in plastic. The controller as a whole uses a more "rough" plastic, which is IMO much less comfortable than the original. The C-Stick is also more rough than the original, but my original controller is a bit worn, and that may be why it's less rough. Other than this, it's the same controller we know and love. If you already own a GC controller which is in good condition, I wouldn't recommend buying this unless you need the extra cord length. (3 feet longer)

For all of you who grew up in the 2000's and played the GameCube growing up, this controller is everything you remember it to be. For some it's awkward, others nostalgia, and for a few it's a way of life (Smash). However it's no denying this is a quality GameCube controller that is OEM/first party. The controller is a reprint essentially with a Smash Logo instead of the Nintendo GameCube brand, and was released for returning Smash players who grew up on Melee/Brawl/Project M with the GameCube controller along side the ever popular GameCube controller adapter for the Wii U. The controller is arguably one of the most preferred way to play smash (Face buttons fit well for the game, C-Stick/Smash Stick, 3 Shoulder buttons, and Wired), however other ways are viable as well. It's all preference in the end. The cord is also actually longer than US original GameCube controllers (Around 6') and similar to Japan GameCube controller length (Around 9'~10'). The controller WILL work on a First Generation Wii (One with built in GameCube controller ports) and GameCube system as well. I was able to play Melee just fine on my Wii with my tests. Yes $30 is a bit for a 10+ year old controller, but it beats second hand/used due to the risk of possible faults. So if you need a new GameCube controller, don't hesitate.
Rated 4 out of 10 by iktos *Requires Wii U GameCube Adapter for use on Wii U
For anyone considering buying this, please note the above. Yes, it's marked in the product description. Unfortunately, the Wii U to gamecube controller adapters are extremely difficult to get right now, and this controller does not work at all for the Wii U without one, despite having Wii U marked on the box. Other than this inconvenience, the product's design is great; it's a quality gamecube controller. It's just not a Wii U controller, despite the labeling.

I have an original gamecube controller my friend gave me, and I must say, I love the gamecube controller. It was very well designed. I bough a GameStop controller when the real one broke, and it's gotten lots of use for ssbb, and MarioKart Wii. I am thinking about getting this one. If I had to pick a favorite controller, it would be a gamecube controller.

The Gamecube controller is still my favorite of all time in terms of comfort. I still have mine, but I've been wanting to get a new one. Only the ones actually made by Nintendo are any good though, and to get one new now is a fortune. Most likely will be picking this up as it is not that expensive and has Nintendo level quality!

I guess the only question is: how long the cord is going to be? Cause ai remember the game cube controller cord was really short and I had to purchase an extension.

Nintendo is bringing back the GC controller for the launch of SSB4. I still have a GC controller but It's not exactly in perfect condition so I'm probably gonna get one of these!
