Rated 8 out of 10 by KooKoo4Games Great game, but the AI party needs better command.
Like I said, "Great game" Yeah I know, what a generic statement! I've been waiting a long time since Ys:The Ark of Napishtim. That game was a let down because of the load times. I found it to the point of unplayability! (Sad) But the game itself was good... but those horrible load times! AAh! Anyway, that's in the past and now we have Ys:Seven. No longer solo play with just Adol. Now he is accompanied by a party of two (including him would make a total of three). Which is good, but what bothered me is the lack of party command customization. The party will never let you attack an enemy single handedly. They always disrupt your attack right after they are done fighting with a different enemy! I found this very annoying. But at the same time it still keeps that hyper actionRPG feel that the series is known for and I think in this game, it carries on that hyperness with the three characters serving as a single attacking unit. So in those terms, I guess it's not so bad. But It would've been nice to have some solo attacking play with out the party having to interfere by throwing a last second melee. Ys Seven is way better than Ys 6(The Ark of Napishtim); especially having improved on the load times. So I was a bit disappointed with the party annoyance and having to wait so long for a new Ys game to come out didn't help either. But for now this will more than do, atleast til Ys The Oath in Felghana comes out. Now that game will be really good and should definetly make up for Ys The Ark Of Napishtim being that it's more in line with the Ys solo play style. I should also mention that Ys The Oath in Felghana is a remake but not JUST a remake it's a really, really, really great remake! Looking forward to it! So til then, I would recommend Ys Seven to tie you over for now.
