Rated 9 out of 10 by Dunman1244 An original type of gameplay that is plain FUN.
Valkyria Chronicles II is unlike any game experience on any system that i have ever had (beside the first game). Not only is the gameplay so original and fun, but the graphics have a kind of fun feel to them. Let us start with the gameplay, so, if your not familiar with how the series plays i will break it down. You start with pretty much a map, which gives you a complete overview of the battle. Then you choose a unit, after choosing a unit you jump into their body and it turns into a kind of turn based third person shooter. This combination of genres is awesome because it makes it unlike any strategy game, or any JRPG, or even any third person shooter. Unfortunetley this game can get absoulutley punishingly difficult. Sometimes it seems that a level is impossible, so the way you end up going about things is grinding to level up everybody, until eventually it seems that you are strong enough. Due to this grinding,a touch of monotony may begin to set in but is soon warded off by the sheer awesomeness of the assortment of enviroments and enimies. Though there may be better games on the market to spend your money on, there are very few of those games. Valkyria chronicles II blends fun combat and cool graphics together to make a little masterpiece.

I've played the first game and watched the anime, I love the story. I've seen screenshots and short gameplays of VC2 on youtube and they improved the custumization part of the game by a lot. There's three different tanks you can use and each cost different amount of CP, 1-3. You can even change the color of the tanks and add a logo on there! Since it is on PSP the graphics won't be as nice as the PS3 version but it still looks pretty good. A lot of people complain about how they turned it into a partial dating sim but that's a matter of opinion. I actually like it that way. I heard they the gamemakers did that after the success of Persona 4 and I'm a big fan of the Persona series too. There also seems to be a versus feature now. Me and my friend have always wished they made a versus feature on the first game. It would be fun to play against your friends. I am confused about something though. Don't we get Selvaria as a playable character for pre-order? Or did they make it so everyone can get her now? I saw screenshots of her in play in a video along with Welkin and Alicia. She's also a scout, I thought she'd be a shocktrooper or assault trooper, whatever the name for them is VC2. How are these hidden characters recruited? The same way as VC1? If anyone knows, do tell.
Rated 10 out of 10 by Raine Better than expected
I thoroughly enjoyed this game, which I did not expect. The fact that it was on a portable system made me lower my expectations and I felt that I was slapped in the face for even lowering them one bit. If you enjoyed the first Valkyria Chronicles there is no doubt you will also enjoy the second.
The character customization in this game is also fantastic. It's nice to mold the characters into what you want rather than just what the game defaults them as. Also being able to customize your tank made some missions so much easier and how you tank is customized could dramatically change your strategy for any mission.
My only qualm with this game is that story seemed poorly paced and the climax, to me, occurs in the middle of the game rather than at the end. However, the gameplay and the fun characters mask that a little bit.
The gameplay is almost identical to the first game. The main difference is that if you lost your leader, you could still go on and also if your tank was blown up, you could still move on. A morale meter was added instead. Defeating enemies and capturing base camps would boost the moral, and allies being defeated and allied base camps captured would lower it. If this meter reached zero, it would result in a mission failure (which only happened to me once).
All in all, this game was fantastic and I'm still playing it now that I've beaten it and got all the new game + features.

The amount of new stuff they added for the second game is amazing. There is light tank, armor troop transport , med tank, heavy tank and can swap parts like flamethrower, Gatling gun, mortar, anti-armor gun mount. And parts like back armor, work part to make bridge, different camo for forest, snow... There is different path for every class too, with a lot of customization, all the sub-character have their own mini-story now. This is definitely an increase game-play, although the graphic are less than the PS3, it still really nice for a PSP game.
Rated 10 out of 10 by HaloCombatEvolveddude best game on the psp system PERIOD
Okay first off this game is three genders combined: Shooting, RPG and Strategy. The results are EXPLOSIVE!!!! I love the way you get to level up each character into over fifteen different types of classes, Shocktrooper, Armored Tech, engineer (medic), lancer and Scout. there is also a very good story line(though the reason the main character is in the army is lame). overall i would reccamend this book to everyone who owns a PSP(unless of course under 13)! This is the single best game for the PSP. PERIOD!!!!!

Rated 0 out of 10 by Lord Alchemy Great Choice Sony
I was actually looking into buying a PS3 once the first one came out as I already own a 360. I'm one of those gamers that picked up a PSP when it first came out. Owning one has been nothing but disappointing in the amount of great games that are available except for a few standout titles. Adding an awesome RPG game that players can take on the go is a great move for Sony as it will now hopefully sell more PSP's and thus Sony will feel the need to actually start supporting it more.
Rated 0 out of 10 by UNSC Dragonfire Haven't played the first game? Don't fret
Valkyria Chronicles, while a great game, was largely unnoticed during it's release month due to low popularity of the PS3 at the time. If you're confused as to what's going on, and don't have a PS3 to play the original, don't worry. Valkyria Chronicles was also made into an anime. If you need to catch up on what's going on, look up the anime online (also titled "Valkyria Chronicles").

If you've played VCbefore, this will be familiar. The battle system is similar, with a few improvements -- morale points are the first to mind -- and the story is on par with the previous game. The addition of a new class with very high frontal defense adds something to the strategy, and the game is incredibly solid in terms of the tactical side, just as VC1 was.

If you loved the first one you will love this one as well. And if you don't have a PSP get one or buy this title anyways. In order to get a "True" sequel to VC sega needs backing. I know I am gonna buy this and all the DLC they put out to show them I want another VC game on the PS3. Do your part and buy this game to support VC.
